The setting is nice. Paths to the river and the deck by the river were very nice. The house itself was a big disappointment. We knew it had two bedrooms and two bathrooms. We did not know that the bedrooms were upstairs, one bathroom on the main level and the other bathroom was in the basement. Too many stairs in the middle of the night! The whole house reeked of wood smoke. Very unpleasant! Basement was pretty much unusable due to the mustiness and wood smoke odor.
Extremely enjoyable weekend !
My family and I had a wonderful 4 day weekend getaway at The Knoll! The house was perfect for all 6 of us. Very relaxing and quiet. The kids loved exploring the woods and tree house. There was also plenty to do inside during the rain as the house was fully stocked with books, puzzles, and games. Fishing at the house was a little tough because the river was so high due to all the rain. But the local bait shop in Narrowsburg was extremely helpful in giving us locations that allowed everyone to have success. The evenings were filled with fire pits, s’mores, and family game nights. Looking forward to future vacations here!
A peaceful & beautiful getaway
We rented this cabin hoping to have a peaceful getaway experience with some good outdoorsy activities available, and that’s exactly what we got! The property was beautiful and we loved walking along the hiking trails, canoeing on the lake, and hanging out on the porch and just enjoying nature. It felt very private. The cabin was cozy, clean and well-maintained. Liz was very easy to work with, quick to respond and very flexible about accommodating a last-minute request to bring an additional dog. Check-in was super easy. We would definitely rent this place again!
A magical retreat!
We stayed here for the second half of our family vacation a few weeks ago. The owner was extremely responsive and easy to work with! We thoroughly enjoyed eating on the deck everyday, the beautiful firepit area, as well as the walk down to the river. I am 8 months pregnant, but adventurous, so the walk down to the river through the woods didn't bother me. LOVED the deck overlooking the river! The cabin is well-stocked with games and puzzles for ALL ages, as well as flotation devices and kayaks and a canoe.
The best part about it, was hearing our 6 and 3 year old boys play nonstop the whole time! They were eager to explore the woods and just play together! (They thought they might find dinosaurs in the woods!) I didn't once hear "I want to watch something", ask for their ipads, or even fight!!! There is a special spirit to the house and we are so grateful for getting to spend a few days there!
This cabin is set in a beautiful property that is full of nature and such a peaceful setting! The woods are full of ferns and moss, giving it an untouched look! I highly recommend it to anyone who wants to get away and find some rest and peace in the woods and on the river!
Our granddaughters first time up the mountains
This was our 5th time staying at The Knoll and we were lucky enough to bring our granddaughter with us. Was her first experience being deep in the woods and she couldn’t have loved it more. Was an amazing trip!! Looking forward to our next stay
Lovely sister getaway
My two sisters were visiting from England and we spent three nights at the Knoll with my dog. It's a beautiful place and we had a great time. The beds were comfortable and the house had everything we needed to cook for ourselves. We used the fire pit every night and cooked on the grill one night. We had a couple of good hikes at nearby Colby Pond (15 min drive) but there aren't a ton of great trails close by. Got a glimpse of a couple of eagles one day and after we saw a hummingbird we found feeders and nectar in the pantry so we put them out on the porch and the hummies were constant visitors after that. The best part of the trip was how completely peaceful this location is. There is a house in sight next door, but it was vacant while we were there and the only sounds we heard were nature. It was great! There's really not a ton to do in the area so I don't know if this would be a good place for an extended family vacation, but for a brief getaway it was perfect.
The Delaware River is right in front of you for fishing, kayaking and canoeing, swimming, bird watching hosting many bald eagles, seen especially well in winter! The river water is clean and wonderful to swim and fish. This is prime area for fishing and hunting! This part of the river boasts of some of the best trout/fly fishing in the world. There is a tandem kayak, a single kayak, and a canoe under the porch. Paddles and life jackets are in the pantry closet off the kitchen. There are hiking trails all through the woods surrounding the cabin.
Two miles north of the cabin lay the quaint town of Narrowsburg, NY. Browse the local art and antique galleries. Experience the Tusten Theatre. Relive history with a visit to Fort Delaware. There is an organic farm nearby that sells fantastic vegetables and fresh meats as well as providing the kids an opportunity to see chickens and lambs. Events like the Callicoon Tractor Parade, the Narrowsburg Eagle Fest, farmer's markets and celebrations for every major holiday provide local flavor. Down stream is the historic Zane Grey House. A 30 minute drive west will bring you into Honesdale. Stroll the streets or ride the Stourbridge Rail, a steam engine journey to the wild west. Bethel Woods Performing Arts Center, built on the site of the original Woodstock, has amazing concerts in an outdoor venue, www.bethelwoodscenter.org. On a rainy day visit their Woodstock museum that is state of the art. One of the top resorts/spas in the country is located 20 minutes from the cabin. Prime area for motorcycle enthusiasts.
