My husband and I have been to all the islands. We both love Maui 'hands down' above the other islands. That's why we chose to buy our condo on Maui. We searched in the Napili and Kaanapali areas but decided that part of the island was too windy and was wetter than the southern part of the west coast. Kihei was too crowded and dirtier than we liked. We both decided Wailea was the area for us. When we walked into our condo and saw the fabulous ocean views, we knew it was the place for us. It definitely is our home away from home.
Rich & Gayela Phillips purchased this condo in 2000
One of the things we enjoy the most while staying at our condo is being able to watch whales playing in the ocean. We also like watching the 'parade of boats' each morning heading out to Molokini while we enjoy our breakfast on the lanai. I would be very remiss if I didn't mention the beautiful sunsets from the lanai in the evening and the occasional fireworks display from the Grand Wailea.
This lovely condo was the perfect spot for our 9-day Maui vacation. We were 2 couples, so the 2-bedrooms/2-baths worked well for us. The living room, dining room, kitchen and balcony/deck areas are very spacious with great views of the ocean and sunsets. We could even see whales jumping off shore! The kitchen is new and very pretty. We cooked breakfasts and dinners at the condo. We really appreciated the high quality of the cookware, dishes, serving utensils, and appliances. The outdoor electric grill on the deck was especially easy to use and clean.
My husband and I have been to the Wailea area of Maui several times and felt that this condo was in the perfect location. Easy access to the shoreline as well as the road to the grocery store in Kihei and beyond to Lahaina. Our friends had not explored Maui before, so we took a lot of outings. We walked by the hotels, shopped at the Shops at Wailea, swam at Makena Beach, drove to Kaanapali and Kapalua, took the ferry to Lanai for golfing one day, and visited Paia, Makawao, and Haleakala, the volcano. We had great meals at the Hali'iMaile General Store, Joe's restaurant at the tennis complex across the street, the Kula Lodge (great pizza) and the Fishmarket restaurant in Paia (best fish sandwich ever!). Every day we were so happy to arrive, fairly exhausted, at 'our' condo, always just before sunset. We quickly made Hawaiian drinks of some kind and sat on the deck to enjoy the sunset. We were never disappointed by the display. We cooked fresh fish and enjoyed our wine and relaxation for the evening in the comfortable, homey living room.
The owners are very thoughtful about all the amenities at the condo. It is especially nice to have the Wi-Fi as well as a printer. The beach toys were a pleasant surprise. Very nice snorkels and fins and beach chairs. TV's in all rooms worked well and the beds were comfortable with pretty bedding. We would definitely recommend the Phillips' condo for your next vacation in Maui!
I have to admit I was skeptical. I didn't believe the pictures posted of the property were true. The panoramic view had to be photoshopped.
Happily, I was wrong. The pictures on the site do not do this property justice. The location is amazing with the most peaceful views from the Lanai. Early morning coffee, late afternoon sunning, evening sky watching it all happens here. The location is quite, I really did not expect the location to be this peaceful. We could have spent our entire vacation on the Lanai and been content.
The property is well maintained and the kitchen well stocked. Home made waffles were a pleasant surprise. We really enjoyed being able to make our own meals most days and the electric BBQ on the lanai was more than adequate for cooking.
Easy walk to the just about anything you need, but be prepared. We are flat landers and it took us a few days to get used to climbing the hills.
We plan on returning to Maui in the coming years and this property will be on the top of our list for accommodations.
The condo is clean, well kept, has so many more amenities than other condos in the same area. The decor is lovely, the view is spectacular, the bedroom separation is great. Communication with Rich and Gayela was excellent before, during our stay and after returning home. Tropical storm Darby was approaching during our stay and we received phone calls from both Rich and the island manager, Shannon regarding things we should do in preparation for the storm. Luckily the storm changed paths, we received some rain and wind but nothing that stopped us from enjoying our time on Maui, we just changed to "plan B" because there is so many choices of activities. Our group was a little concerned about the weather because of our son and his bride's upcoming nuptials the day following the storm. But as Shannon promised, the day was perfect, the island was refreshed and the flowers smelled even more lovely than before! Thanks Shannon! And thank you Rich and Gayela for sharing your wonderful condo with us. I will definitely recommend staying here to anyone visiting Maui!
We stayed two weeks in this spotless, well cared for condo. It is close to three golf courses, the Wailea Shopping Center with terrific restaurants, and is in a beautiful, quiet location. It is the perfect condo for two couples with two master bedroom suites. We also appreciated the well-equipped kitchen for meals in and the ceiling fans in bedrooms and living areas. The main lanai was a wonderful place for dining, relaxing, and appreciating the evening sunset. We are already planning to return again.
I just returned from my first trip to Maui and had the good fortune to stay in this wonderful condo. From the beautiful views to the wonderfully stocked condo, we could not have asked for more. The kitchen was stocked with everything you could possibly need. The beach gear from chairs, umbrella, coolers and snorkeling gear. The owners missed nothing. The condo is very comfortably furnished from living room to bedrooms. And then there are the views. I am already missing my morning coffee on the lanai and evening sunsets. I cannot wait to get back again! Thank you again Rich and Gayela for always responding immediately before my arrival. It was a pleasure dealing with you! Lisa J.
This was our second stay at this lovely condo. It is in a great location with wonderful ocean views off the spacious lanai. The two bedrooms, with their own ensuites, are perfect for two couples. The kitchen is very well equipped and the livingroom is very comfortable. We enjoyed the close proximity to the Wailea beaches and the easy walk to The Shops and to the ocean walk. But, most of all we loved the gorgeous sunsets on the lanai. The hosts are very accommodating and a delight to deal with. Communication and payment was smooth and we truly appreciate their thoughtfulness and the fact that they share their lovely condo with others. Thank you and we hope to be back very soon.
We have been in love with Maui since first finding our way to the Sheraton Kaanapali fifty years ago. Since then we have returned many times with our children and grandchildren, always hating to go home and always determined to come back. This was the first time we haven’t stayed on the beach, and we were hoping we wouldn’t be disappointed. We weren’t. It was absolutely delightful!
The condo is everything that others have commented on. It’s roomy, very well equipped, and the views are amazing. It is also much quieter than staying on the beach, which is a definite plus. If you want to get to the ocean, it’s a five minute walk.
We particularly appreciated some other touches. The internet Wi-Fi was fast, but when my computer kept dropping off the signal, they had thought to provide an Ethernet cable that was even faster. There was also a printer that came in handy when it came time to print our airline boarding passes on departure.
The few glitches we experienced over our four weeks were either handled immediately or almost comical in nature. When our coffee maker refused to make coffee on our first morning there, I feared it was a harbinger of bad things to come. But Rich was soon at the door with a brand new coffee maker. Later during the month when the four slice toaster became balky, there was already a replacement in the cabinet.
The comical moments came when we couldn’t find the source of a quiet beeping that occurred every evening at about the same time. It turned out to be a signal that the dishwasher cycle was complete in the new Bosch dishwasher, which is so quiet you can’t hear it. The other event was a very loud alarm that we couldn’t locate until two workers outside heard it and solved the mystery. It turns out every water line in the condo has an alarm near it to detect leaks, which makes sense. This alarm went off when it detected some dampness next to the clothes washer, which the workers assured us was inconsequential. I would only suggest that Rich and Gayela provide a heads up for those who might be suddenly mystified.
All in all, it was a marvelous four weeks. Our thanks to Rich and Gayela for their efforts in making our stay so delightful!!
Whale watching from November thru April right from the lanai.
