Space 3,000 sq. ft.
Property type farmhouse
Minimum Stay 2 nights

About the property

5 BR plus loft, 3 BA, price is 4-8 occupants, sleeps 13 (max)

History, elegance, peaceful and quiet in a rural country setting, our 1833 log cabin has been restored and integrated with a new 2001 log cabin. The 4500 square foot, 5 room/ 9 bed- 3 bath cabin is situated on 55 acres of rolling hill farm country, conveniently located about 30 miles from Mount Vernon, Coshocton, Newark or Zanesville (65 mi NE of Columbus).

Relax in the hot tub on the back porch and watch the wild life, or sit before a cozy crackling fire in the large family room fireplace. This cabin is a place to relax and enjoy the beautiful scenery, the ultimate place to unplug from the world.

Rustic charm and country elegance all in one beautifully appointed cabin. Great for family reunions, small weddings, receptions, romantic getaways, women or men's retreats or just gathering with friends. The house offers a fully equipped, gorgeous country kitchen a wonderful place to cook while enjoying time with the family. The cabin is very spacious, plenty of room for up to 15 people. It has satellite TV and satellite wireless Internet.

Property is available for deer during hunting season and is near Woodbury Nature Preserve (public hunting) which is only 20 minutes away.

The Surrounding Area: Set in the heart of Ohio farm country, the cabin sits on it's own 55 acre farm. The area is rural, and scenery consists of rolling hills, woods, farms and farm land. We are about as far away from the hectic life as you can get in Ohio. There are miles of gravel roads in the area with low traffic, suitable for biking, walking or even horseback riding.

You are probably wondering what is there to do in this area? There are many activities from zip lines to wineries. We will be happy to put together a list of what to do, just let us know what you're interested in.

The owners, Frank and Lisa Stahl, live within 1.5 miles of the cabin and encourage guests to enjoy the farm sights at both locations. Our amount of interaction with you is controlled by you. You can have the peace and quiet at the cabin or spend time on the farm with us - it's up to you. We primarily keep the stock at our farm, and are doing hay at the Weston House. If you like animals, we'd be really happy to share some of our farming practices and let you visit with the sheep if they cooperate! Spring time is the best time to see young animals especially the lambs!! We are an authentic farming operation raising registered, grass fed shorthorn cattle and Katahdin Sheep. We also have horses, chickens, dogs, and cats. Typically we have around 25 cows and calves, and between 40 and 100 sheep.

About Frank and Lisa Stahl (Managers)

Our goal is to have a nice place for people to leave all the city hustle and bustle behind them, and enjoy the simpler life in the country. Frank and Lisa operate a working farm within walking distance of the cabin.

Frank and Lisa Stahl (Managers) purchased this farmhouse in 2005

Why Frank and Lisa Stahl (Managers) chose Ohio

We fell in love with the kitchen in this house when we saw it come up for sale. We wanted to provide a beautiful and relaxing property for people to unplug from their busy lives.

What makes this farmhouse unique

The house sits on 55 acres of farm and pasture ground, which is ideal for nature walks and watching livestock and wildlife. The old cabin of the house adds charm and history to the new, elegant log home. It's a great get away for groups of people who may be family or just friends. Built as a family home, it is a wonderful place to spend a holiday, or even a short weekend and just relax in the simpler way of country living.

Exceeded My Expectations!

  • 5 of 5

Absolutely beautiful home. Clean, modern, comfortable. The area was really "away from it all" and just the getaway my family needed. Soaking in the hot tub on the deck, watching the family roast marshmallows over the fire in the peaceful night was amazing. The kitchen afforded me everything I needed to cook amazing feasts. Our host stopped by with anything we asked for or needed so promptly. Better than my vacation to Las Vegas!

Owner's Response: We live near the rental home, and are only a phone call away. We manage the property ourselves, so want you to have everything you need when you need it. Additionally, we encourage people to stop by our farm where most of the livestock are, but mostly just want people to enjoy the countryside we love so much!

Nice large cabin in the country

  • 4 of 5

Enjoyed our stay. Hosts Frank and Lisa very accommodating and quick to address any concern. Kitchen and eating area huge and great to work in. Had all pans utensils dishes we needed. Outdoor grill great.

Beds comfortable. Large master on first floor has adjoining room (previously large walk in closet) with 2 bunk beds. Great for kids but doors need adjusted, hard to close. Second bedroom on first floor on opposite side of house. Small, very quiet. door would not stay closed, just put suitcase in front of it. Bathrooms all nice with all supplies needed. Upstairs is a loft over 1st floor master then large bedroom with a king and queen located in the middle of the house over kitchen/eating area. That is connected to the second loft over the family room with no door between spaces. Sounds from first floor travel easily upstairs. Plenty of places to sleep just not traditional closed rooms.

Outdoors very nice with ponds. Enjoyed the fire pit to roast marshmallows. They had the metal long forks needed for that. Hot tub in enclosed porch nice.

Had 3 couples and 2 toddlers. Space was perfect. Not childproof (did not expect it to be!) just had to be vigilant with stairs, fireplace etc. Also had dogs. Initially chose this site because it is pet friendly. great choice

Owner's Response: Susan, it was such a pleasure to host you and your family! Apologies for the wood doors- the humidity was the worst in years and the custom wood doors swelled so much they were scraping the floor in some rooms. It has not happened since you left, isn't that the way things go? The downstairs bedroom door is almost 200 years old with original hardware and seems at some point before your stay someone broke the pin on the hardware. Thank you for letting me know it wouldn't close, Frank has ordered replacement hardware! We hope to see you again next year, you were great guests!
