I rented the home for Fathers Day and it was wonderful. The whole family loved the place, we had plenty of room and the view was breath taking!!!! I could sit on that porch all day. We arrived and the home was clean and VERY well stocked!! The owner was easy to work with and we never had any problems. My 2 year old twin granddaughters now want to go back each morning they wake up :) I hope to rent the house again !!

GREAT LOCATION, GREAT PORCH, House need work and to be professionally cleaned

Let me start by stating this house is in a GREAT location and SUPER CUTE and could be worthy of 5 stars with a little work (handyman and professional cleaning). The location did afford quick access to family, the porch and dock afforded some great family moments and a place to put the boat.


1. When we arrived air conditioning was not on and it was 86 degrees in the house. I could of lived with that however the overwhelming musty smell was so strong the house smelled of sewage in the main bathroom.

2. In the front room, the tank on the commode was leaking onto the floor.

3. The toilets were disgusting and had to be cleaned. The house was visually clean however the there was no signs that any cleaning had been done in awhile.

When I called the home owner, I asked if he had used the house in awhile, if he was aware of the sewage issue and the commode in the front room was leaking his response was "I was just in the house the day before and used that toilet and it was fine and was not leaking, the house did not smell. then he hung up on me on the third time calling him back "he stated my wife is beside me and the house is clean. " The home owner FINALLY agreed after getting defensive to send someone out. The guy he sent stated that no one had told them that a bowl had been placed under the toilet and there was no way I could of damaged it or fixed it because the tank bolts were rusted beyond repair which was causing the leak. He kindly fixed the bolts and all was good.

My mother aired out the house, cleaned the toilets, washed bed sheets etc so that we could at least feel like all was clean.

IF the homeowner had been in the house the day before, he should of turned the air on to at least 78 as most hotels rooms are set at, cleaned the toilets and aired out the house. The handyman confirmed the homeowner had not been in the house for awhile.

I have a very high tolerance for a lot of things but I cannot overlook the way in which this homeowner treated me given the amount of money I paid to rent this place in the condition that it was in. Had he of replied honestly and respectfully, he would of gotten at least 3/4 stars.

Owner's Response: I was at this property overnite and the same day the Milton's arrived.I also came by around ck in time Just to make sure everything was okay and turn on the ac it is not run when no one is there.They had arrived and had ac on i knocked and no one answered.I didn't enter i was on the road to spend a weekend with daughter in Nashville when i got the first call asking where was ironing board and iron and what was the WiFi password.Then a few minutes later i got a another call complaining of cleaning and commode tank leaking Evidently someone had noticed before and put a bowl there it was in a inconspicuous place and it had never been brought to my attention.It was defiantly not and issue to have someone drive up there to repair but i did so anyway on a holiday weekend.The house had been professionally cleaned and all linen's washed prior to their arrival.I have T mobile cell service and i was having reception issues and never hung up during our conversation the service drooped i told her that.She indicated if i had talked better she would have given me 3 out of 4 but the scale is on a 5 rating she gave this property a 2.Since VRBO has taken the rental process away from direct contact with the owner , this could allow for more future problems if i could have talked with her i could have possible determined that this wasn't the property for her.I went ahead and gave her a 5 star renter score even though she left beer and other items there a overflowing garbage can in carport with ants already making there trail to it.She choose this property on the second biggest lake holidays and said the rate was to much,This home isn't new but its defiantly worth that rate on memorial day weekend.Anyone in the future that wants to comment on the cleanliness,feel free to contact me to look at its condition anytime.

Perfect Getaway

This place was absolutely amazing! It fit our group of 6 people easy and everyone was comfortable! The kitchen had everything you needed even seasonings for cooking. It was stocked with all the sheets towels pots pans utensils etc.. The grocery store was only 10-15 minutes away and that made it very easy to go and get food. It was very peaceful. The boat dock was ground level so NO STAIRS. The dock was great for laying out and swimming we stayed out there all day! It was the perfect place to get away and bond with your family or friends. We will definitely be booking this place again and making it an every summer thing! We enjoyed every minute!

Great Time at Waterville!

We really enjoyed our stay at Waterville!

The home was very comfortable, sleeping our group of 7. The kitchen is very user friendly and stocked with pots, dished and utensils to suit our needs.

The east-facing porch was great for watching sunrises AND watching boats go by on Smith Lake.

There is a boat ramp 5 minutes away where we launched our fishing boat. Waterville's boat dock worked great for our boat and the occasional visitor. We used the swimming dock and the upper deck (above the boat dock) every day.

Stores are 15-20 minutes away for groceries, hitting the mall.

We will be back.
