Beautiful place to go. Relaxing, quiet, fun.

This unit functions well and a great location on the grounds. It suits the need as we like to be outside, but is starting to be a bit shabby compared to others we have been in or occupied previously for comparable price. Some upgrading is in order. We did not bring our own snorkeling gear as the unit was advertised as well stocked with beach equipment. But alas flippers with straps had broken Fins, the intact ones had no straps and they were different style so couldn't exchange from broken ones. Only one of the 7 snorkels had a way to attach to the mask strap. Neither beach umbrella was obviously previous renters were not careful. The boogey board and the surf board were beginning to delaminate. I did contact the owner who replied quickly, but that was that.

Pretty good lodging in amazing location

  • 4 of 5

Greg was good to deal with and everything was as advertised. Bed was comfy and condo was in a good location with a short walk through lovely manicured grounds to the ocean. The linens were clean as were the counters etc, however, the place could use a deep clean/fresh coat of paint i.e. there was toothpaste spatter on the walls, the light switches were a bit grimy, and the kitchen is out of date. That said I felt comfortable there and really how much time do you spend inside staring at the walls while in Kauai? It would have been nice if dishwasher tabs had been provided as we never thought to pack them, since I had to go buy some I left a few for the next guest. Staff at the resort/condo were always friendly and helpful and it was nice to be able to go to the beach hut and get fresh towels and book snorkeling trips etc. The barbecues were clean and we enjoyed grilling while looking out at the ocean. As there is no A/C you'll want to sleep with the windows open and while we found the area very quiet I'd suggest packing some earplugs just incase, one night the rain was pouring so hard it woke us up.

Local tips

The breakfast buffet at the Sheraton next door was pricey but worth it and if you download the "Yelp" app on your phone add them and tell them you get off your meal. If you need sunscreen go down to the beach hut where they sell "Reef Safe" biodegradable sunscreen for only $8, it saved my trip after I had an allergic reaction to "Banana Boat" (seems they changed their formula). Food is expensive in Kauai cheapest place is Costco.

Great stay

  • 4 of 5

The overal stay was very nice. The email correspondence was smooth and thorough. The location closer to the beach than the road was convenient. The furniture was new and clean. The garden view and second floor patio was beautiful. It might have had more little things like spices, Saran Wrap ,foil and bbq utensils but not really a problem. We had a great week and would stay here again. The athletic club across the street with a nice pool, yoga classes and weight room was a benefit.

Lovely getaway

  • 5 of 5

Thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The condo is well-equipped with standard kitchen items and beach gear. We found everything to be clean and comfortable. We were there during very hot and humid weather with a tropical storm passing nearby, and the fans kept the condo reasonably cool.

Kiahuna Plantation is a beautiful location steps from the beach. We don't have children but saw many families enjoying the beach and lawn areas. Seems like a great place for families. I would definitely choose to come back to this property again! We enjoyed visiting Kauai Island Brewery and Grill in Port Allen, and the Friday night art walk in Hanapepe.

You can't rent property out to the public and not take care of it. I was very disappointed when I saw an old tub in need of repair, furniture dirty and used and old and the lamps shade fell down to its base while I was there from rot. Read the review dates and " outrigger" is different than "castle" management...stick with "outrigger".

Owner's Response: Vanessa surely thought she was staying at the Four Seasons when she signed up. I had the resort mgmt look into to her cleanliness concerns the minute i heard from her and they found the unit clean but did what they could to placate her. Take a look at the many previous reviews on this website and others if you want an honest opinion. Simple, clean, comfortable, like a beach cottage and close to the beach for a great price....Aloha
