This is the perfect 'Home Away from Home' in Charleston. Located within the 'Historical District' of this river bound peninsula town, you will be able to easily walk to all its treasured sites. This 'Romantic Hideaway' is on the second floor of a traditional porch fronted Charleston home on a very quiet residential street, exactly across from one of the most beautiful and the most expensive Antebellum Mansion in all of Charleston. The 20'x 15' livingroom has two fireplaces and opens to the front porch (Piazza) with seating for dining, relaxing and a hammock for the occasional nap. The large kitchen is newly renovated with stainless steel appliances, marble floors, granite countertops and includes a washer and dryer. An oversized jetted soaking tub and separate glass block shower star in the bathroom reached through the charming bedroom. Chandeliers or plantation palm frond ceiling fans are everywhere. There is a double sized loft bed for extra sleeping. There is a second spacious bedroom with a queen sized bed and Sunny sitting area and a third bedroom with two twin beds for a total of five beds which could accommodate up to seven people.
We loved the property which is across the street from a historic home. We sat on the second-floor porch for hours each morning and then again at night. The house is in the historic section, so it was convenient to walk up and down streets looking at houses and gardens.
The negatives: Should have been cleaner. The sink trap had food scraps in it (which is one of the things that gross me out in my own sink). We had to retrieve something from under a bed and found lots of dust there. Now, I live in an older home and I know how dust accumulates, so this was not a deal breaker for me. The sink trap was probably an oversight from the housecleaner.
Second: I received the door code and instructions to get in the house by e-mail. I expected a packet of information at the house, but there was nothing. We spent an hour trying to find the Wi-Fi information and only located it by accident. The password was scribbled in ink on a brochure from Xfinity inside the tv cabinet. By scribbled I mean that we had to try it two ways before it worked. There were no instructions about what to do before we left. Usually there is information about trash, dishwasher and even linens.
I would stay again in the same house and hopefully the owner will provide an information sheet for guests.
We came to do are ARP program at MUSC. The house was with in walking distance of the medical center, downtown and restaurant. The apartement is very comfortable, well taken care off. Loved having the comforts of home. Best feature is the poach to set outside at night.
The veranda was where we spent most of our time while staying at this great historic 100 year old property. We are four women who love to travel and to stay in interesting and historical lodging when we can. This lovely apartment provided us each our own comfortable bed and sleeping area, two full baths, a well equipped kitchen and that nice veranda. We enjoyed our breakfast and happy hour/dinner on the veranda each day.
Be aware there are no close restaurants or grocery options. We had no vehicle but Uber served us well and cost less than a four day rental car would have with no parking worries.
Claudia was easy to work with and arranged for us to drop off our luggage before the 4:00 check in so we lost no time exploring Charleston.
We can recommend this property and would definitely stay there again when visiting the Holy City.
The apartment was perfect for a long weekend getaway with friends. Plenty of room to stretch out. Great location. Cumfy beds.
We are a family of 5 (3 teenagers) who visited Charleston for a wedding. This home was very large and charming! Everyone had their own space to escape to in addition to a large central living area to be together as well. The kitchen was stocked with everything that we needed even though we never cooked a complete dinner there. We loved the top floor porch and spent every morning drinking coffee and staring at a mansion across the street and watching people run/walk by. There is a good close coffee shop. The waterfront and restaurants are within walking distance (or an Uber ride) from the home. The private parking spot was a bonus. Overall, this home was comfortable, clean, large and perfect for our family to enjoy Charleston. I highly recommend this property if visiting Charleston SC.
The historic peninsula city of Charleston, South Carolina is without a doubt the most beautiful of all the towns and cities in the United States. Park your car in the driveway and start walking about - you will find no reason to drive anywhere
