We enjoyed our stay overall. The location is good and had all the amenities worked properly, it would have earned 5 stars. Charleston is obviously quite warm in the summer and the a/c wasn’t able to keep the back side of the house cool. It reached 81 inside every day despite being set at 72. Only one of the threeTVs had working cable. The bathrooms were very clean, but other areas of the house could have used a bit more attention. Overall, despite those minor issues, it was an enjoyable stay.
we come back every year, that should say everything.
The property was in the ideal location for us - amidst the romantic and older homes of Charleston's Historic District - close to the Battery, French Quarter, Restaurants, Shops, etc. It was within walking distance for most locations as well as close to the beach highways. It is an older home, downstairs or upstairs rental. We stayed in the very quiet upper unit with a wonderful porch for relaxing, which overlooked an amazing antebellum house. The decor is fun and eclectic with a well-equipped kitchen that met our needs. There was no washer or dryer in the upstairs unit as advertised. There were also no sheets for the twin beds - only a corduroy cover which was hot and uncomfortable. A duvet served as the bottom sheet with a small lightweight blanket as the cover for one of us. All in all, it was a very enjoyable stay.
Thank you for your kind review but I do wish you had contacted me during your stay as there is indeed a full sized Maytag washer and dryer in the apartment. In the large back bedroom there is are mirrored doors that enclose both the washer & dryer as well as the hot water heater for the unit. Tide clothes washing pods and Clorox are provided as are dryer sheets.
The twin beds have a grey fitted corduroy daybed cover on the top which have to be removed and the beds are completely made up with fresh sheets and blankets. The grey corduroy cover is just that, the cover of the bed, and should have been removed. The light blanket you must have used is just a "throw cover" for additional warmth or sometimes people like to curl up in that room to read as there is so much light.
I deeply regret that you had this misunderstanding about the bedding and the washer and dryer. If in the future you visit us again and have any questions, please don't hesitate to contact me. I welcome your return whenever your travels bring you to Charleston.
great apartment, great location
Great apartment, great location. Loved our stay and enjoyed all of Charleston from this lovely, convenient and quiet apartment.
Just what we were looking for...
We wanted a nice place in a great location where our family could stay while attending a niece’s wedding. We loved the historic location and couldn’t have been more comfortable. Excellent communication with the owner, and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay.
Great place to stay in Charleston
It was the perfect place for a girls' trip, close to everything, clean and had plenty of space!
The historic peninsula city of Charleston, South Carolina is without a doubt the most beautiful of all the towns and cities in the United States. Cobbled Streets, Antebellum Mansions whispering charm, wide covered porches (called Piazza's in this Southern land), flowering fragrant gardens, sidewalks rimmed with jasmine, horse drawn carriages, a college campus draped in Spanish moss and the secrets of the past, ....Charleston has it all...and this home away from home for you is in the middle of it all...across the street from one of the most beautiful (and THE most expensive) mansion in town, an easy and delightful stroll to any and everything you might want to see: Downtown shopping, historical mansions, The Battery, White Point Gardens, Colonial Lake, The College of Charleston, The Medical University of South Carolina, some of the best restaurants in the entire nation.... Park your car in the driveway and start walking about - you will find no reason to drive anywhere
