Arrowhead Community is great, the house could be better

  • 3 of 5

The arrowhead community is very nice. Quiet, beautiful lake and nice clean beaches. The pools are well staffed and very clean. Right outside the gates of the community is a deli to buy sandwiches, BBQ needs and beer. Everybody was very friendly.

The house:

Pros: 5 minute walk to pool (they are advertised as 'heated' but they are not heated pools), 2 bedrooms and 2 futons means you can fit at least 8 people if necessary, shower head is great, plenty of room and a big deck.

Needs work: When we arrived there was a broken chair missing a leg just sitting there on the floor. Cleanliness was lacking; we mopped the house twice before we let our son crawl around. The ceiling fan was so caked in dust, we had to climb on a chair and vacuum it before turning it on. 2 of the lamps did not work and I had to purchase light bulbs for the kitchen and one of the bedrooms. We purchased a doormat for the entrance because there wasn't one. Hot water runs out quickly so take quick showers.

My wife best described the house as "It needs a woman's touch". I also recommend if you're bringing an amazon fire stick or a video game system, the TV does not have an HDMI input...we had to order a converter on Amazon.

If you are a no frills group who plans on being out and about most of the time you're visiting, I would recommend this house to you. If you want a warm, welcoming comfortable place that you want to spend time in (like in the winter), I would probably look elsewhere. The host, Fred, communicated well and answered all of our questions. He even gave us an extended checkout time which is useful when you have a toddler.

Loved it!

  • 5 of 5

We enjoyed the stay. It is very close to a pool. The only inconvenience was to bring our own bedding. But overall, we loved it. Communication with the owner was easy.

Needs a good cleaning. But otherwise it was ok

  • 2 of 5

It is a nice house and does have everything you need. It is also in need of a good cleaning which I had to do before we unpacked! The hot water would only allow us to shower for less than 5 minutes!! Now the owner did say his manager was sick and could not confirm if it was clean. The bathroom was gross, the refrigerator was gross, and there were cob webs everywhere and the dust on ceiling fan was an inch thick!! I left the house alot cleaner than when we came! Other than the cleaning and crappy showers the place wasn't bad.

Owner's Response: I am sorry the home was not cleaned prior to your arrival. This was a last minute rental request, the home was booked on 6/14 for a 6/15 arrival. On the day of booking I did disclose our property manager was very sick and cannot get out there to check the condition of the home and I gave you my cell phone to report any issues. We were not made aware of the issue with the hot water; however a subsequent renter notified us of the same issue and it turned out there was a leak in the tank. We had the hot water heater replaced the same day for him. We did not receive any complaints about the refrigerator, but 2 renters later we did receive feedback that it was making a loud humming noise so I purchased a new one and had it delivered a day later. We take pride in our home and work hard to address any of our renter concerns as well as accommodating last minute rental requests. We love having repeat customers and hope you give us another opportunity in the future.
