About John & Lynda Hunt
The only entrance to the castle is Sauvola Drive which is off Able Road in Rindge, NH close to the Rindge/Fitzwillaim town line. Google has Hunt Castle at 1000 Sauvola DR.There is a designated Castle Beach marked specifically for you. This home is our primary residence. Our children grew up in this home and now return to visit with their families. Construction began in the fall 1993 and finished in 1995. John's love of Castles began when he was a young child and grew up in Pittsburgh, Pennslyvania. As an adult he found this beautiful 500+ acreage of land quite by accident in the woods of New Hampshire. The plans to build this home began after much travel throughout, Europe exploring other castles. Today, after our five children have grown up and left this wonderful home, they continue to return to this gorgeous property to come together as a quite large extended family. We continue to celebrate many of the holidays here with our family and have now opened it up to you so that you may enjoy it as much as we do.

We enjoyed our stay very much, spacious and lots of room for our family a great time was had by all!
We rented the castle for our daughter’s graduation from Franklin Pierce. We were glad we did because it rained and we had plenty of room for everyone and we still had a great time. I would definitely think about going up again in the summer to be able to enjoy the outdoors more. The amenities are great the kitchen and bar are fully stocked with dishes, appliances, and anything you could need. You really do just need to bring clothes, food, and drinks! The only reason I didn’t give it five starts was because they wanted you to strip your beds and wipe down the bathrooms so waking up feeding everyone and trying to clean the castle up by 11 was a little stressful.
2nd time we went to the castle and it was just as awesome as the last time which was 2 years ago. It's such a great place!
Absolutely perfect experience! Exactly what we were looking for to have a 75th birthday celebration!
My brothers, sisters and I rented the castle for a 75th birthday celebration for our mother. It could not have been a more perfect place to stay with the entire family (ranging in age from 6weeks old to 77 years old!) Plenty of room for all! The little ones loved the third floor playroom, especially the trampoline and trains. The older ones had a blast down in the pub, with all of the amazing games to play! Saturday afternoon was spent sledding right in the backyard, so much fun! A big birthday dinner in the dining room Saturday night was also amazing! The house was so spectacular, such a unique experience to stay in a castle! Everyone we dealt with while planning our weekend were so helpful and accommodating! A truly memorable family weekend!!!
We are so glad that you had a great time at the Castle! You are just the kind of renter we want. We love family get togethers! We ourselves have also celebrated many wonderful family events at our home year round which is why we call the Castle a 4 season rental. Thank you for wonderful review and we hope to see you again soon!
The most beautiful castle
I have ever stayed in!!!!
Excellent stay a the castle!
We booked a long weekend at the castle to celebrate my wife's birthday. Family and friends joined for the experience of a lifetime! We were greeted with a warm welcome from the castle's caretaker, who gave us an extensive tour of the castle. The entire trip was unforgettable, from everyone gathering for meals around the over-sized dining room table to games in the basement bar room to cross-country skiing around the grounds. The entire castle is very clean and welcoming. John and Lynda were easy to work with and very accommodating throughout my booking and stay experience. I would highly recommend the castle for anyone looking for a unique experience with loved ones; you won't be let down.
5 families with kids
We just got back from 5 nights at the castle and could not have had a better time! We had 5 families with a total of 11 children, ages 1 - 6. The weather cooperated beautifully, which made it easy to enjoy the expansive property. The kids ran around nonstop outside: they played on the playground, played soccer on the huge lawn (there were a couple nets there that acted as soccer goals), and swam in the lake, where we all had fun on the small fleet of watercraft (stand-up paddleboards, paddle boats, kayaks, and a small sailboat). We did a little fishing in the lake too, but no luck there.
There was also a 1.8 mile trail around the lake that made for a good (albeit uneven) running path, as well as a network of cross-country skiing trails to augment it. Sadly, we did not make it out to the Frisbee golf course.
The house huge and provided plenty of space for everyone to move around. One note: not every bedroom has its own bathroom, but it was convenient enough that we were able to make it work. All the kids stayed on the 3rd floor, which was a great space for playing and reading stories. A couple of the kids were spellbound by the Lego collection and would disappear for hours into that room.
Overall it was a great stay, and both John and Mike (the caretaker) were helpful, friendly, and accommodating. We would certainly be back if our travel plans ever brought us back to the area.
The only entrance to the castle is Sauvola Drive in Rindge, NH which is off Able Road near the Rindge/Fitzwillam town line.
If you cross-country ski you, we provide 20 kilometers of skiing right here on the property. We have several ski resorts near by. Wachusett is 30 minutes away, Crotched Mt. is 40 minutes away, Pats peak is 50 minutes away and Mt. Sunapee is 70 minutes.
