Description: The Silver Birches is located right on the shores of lovely Lake Memphremagog. The mile long single lane road down to the house has only trees along the way to welcome you. You are in a totally rural setting but there are supermarkets nearby and many great restaurants and interesting things to do in both Vermont and Quebec as we are very near the international border. Once at the house the clear waters of the lake stretch out before you for 1 1/2 miles and the sun sets across the lake each evening. When relaxing on one of the several lookouts and porches you hear the breeze whispering through the huge pine and birch trees out front of the house. Inside there is everything to keep family and friends most comfortable. Dining and comfortable seating always includes views out big windows in every room in the house. The privacy of the property makes it unnecessary to even have curtains in most rooms. There are 2 master bedrooms; one on the main floor and the other upstairs overlooking the lake through a gorgeous birch tree. 3 other large bedrooms are set up with 2 twin beds that could be pushed together if need be. All bedrooms have sheets furnished and distinct personalities Topping the house off is a beautiful tower with many windows perfect for a hideaway nap or slumber party. The kitchen has everything needed for even the most ambitious chef. 2 bathrooms have tubs with jacuzzi jets and plenty of towels. Beautiful wood and Mexican sinks adorn these comfortable bathrooms also. Outside right above the stairs to the dock is a wood fired sauna; a very popular place, especially on cooler days. Get hot then head to the lake for a swim! Where you swim is a full dock that can accommodate a boat. Bring your own or rent one in the nearby marina. We look forward to seeing you soon! The objective of our stay at the Silver Birches was for our family to have its first multi day get together. We could not have picked a better spot! Not only is the house and setting both very gorgeous, there is also an aura around and inside the house that filled us with warmth and love. Thank you so much! Merci beaucoup! Montreal
A letter from newlyweds on their honeymoon here early September 2016
Dear Judi and Tiger,
We are so happy that we discovered your beautiful and unique home and property called The Silver Birches. Thank you for sharing all the history of this place, not to mention all your time and advice about the many ways to enjoy it; walks, local highlights, and tips about crossing the border! This was a truly magical and peaceful place for our honeymoon. We will never forget it and plan to come back as soon as we can - so sad to leave!
Thanks so much! We could go on and on. K and E ps. Such a pleasure meeting and talking to you both.
Here's what some of my happy guests had to say about summer 2015
"Thank you for the very enjoyable vacation with our family. Lots of activities on the lake; running, walking, golf and eats/drinks. The place really felt like home and we would not hesitate to come again as it is a little piece of heaven. All the best, J,A, K,O, K and A"
"Thank you so much for sharing your beautiful home with us! We can see all the love and care in every detail. It was the perfect spot to celebrate our 25th wedding anniversary. We had a lovely time with all of our friends and family. Everyone agreed that this place is heaven! No one wanted to leave. Our 3 year old nephew asked when packing the car, are we getting ready to go home? When we replied yes he said, I don't want to go home! We enjoyed every last minute; peaceful mornings to moonlight swims. Thanks again and we hope to return again. E and D

Thank you Judi and Tiger for offering your beautiful hideaway from city life! Our family, normally spread between various locations and lives in Canada and the US enjoyed a memorable week of swimming, sunning, and sauna-ing, all surrounded by the gorgeous nature and views this place had to offer. We all enjoyed speculating how wonderful all the different seasons must be here.
Thanks again for everything!
The B family
Something for everyone - canoeing, kayaking, but best of all just relaxing and taking in the beautiful views. Reading on the porch was one of the best things to do to get that real get away from it all feeling. Judi and Tiger have a fabulous place where the rest of the world doesn't intrude.

B and I are deeply grateful for the opportunity to stay in your idyllic cottage. Indeed I'm not sure I'll be able to make B leave without blasting caps. Everything about the house is charming and comfortable - its design, its situation, its amenities. We couldn't have asked for a more appealing place to get away and to visit with family. We can only hope to come back again and share this slice of paradise with more of our family.

'What a beautiful spot - I felt like pinching myself to make sure I wasn't dreaming for the first few days. Our 3 boys have had a wonderful time here with their cousins. Very sorry to be leaving here.
'Tomorrow I will wake up and wonder - was it all a wonderful dream?'

'The members of the Caledon Cycling Club really enjoyed our visit. We appreciated your beautiful home and property, and we took full advantage of your sauna and dock. Our evenings spent sitting around your massive table in the covered patio watching the sun set were unforgettable. Thank you for a wonderful trip. We will enjoy reminiscing about the time we've spent on Lac Mempremagog and mountain biking at Coaticook, East Hereford and East Burke.'

July, 2012 Silver Birches Guestbook:
'Thank you and your ancestors for sharing this very beautiful, positive house and surroudings and thank you to the earth, the lake, the trees, the sun that continues to provide for us and for your stewardship of this magical place.' written by an elderly guest who painted in the front yard in a makeshift tent set up by his grandchildren.
Written by owner Judi Jacobi: 'I travel a lot and love peaceful places in nature. When I return to my home on the lake I´m always amazed at how beautiful and quiet it is here. Situated on the eastern shore of Lake Memphremagog to ensure a sunset view and mere steps from the water you will be spoiled forever after staying here. The large, wooden house is a one mile drive from the main road on a dead end driveway. The house is very comfortable with more windows than walls but when not inside enjoying the spacious kitchen, fireplace and comfy bedrooms and jacuzzi tubs you´ll spend your time out on the big deck built around 2 Silver Birch trees gazing at the lake, dining at the round table and listening to the breeze whisper through the giant pine trees. When not on the deck you´ll be soaking up the sun on the dock, in the sauna, kayaking, swimming, biking, jogging or walking the country roads and trails through the woods inhabited only by deer, birds, small animals, and mushrooms. If you do decide to explore the interesting border community we live in you will be delighted by the small towns nearby. On the Canadian side here in Quebec the French culture flourishes! Foodies will love the many interesting choices in the markets (we have a Farmer's market on Sunday now!) and in the restaurants. You will also be delighted by the Blacksmith Gallery, Colby Curtis museum and the Haskell Opera House and library with the US/Canadian border running right through it! These attractions are minutes from the Silver Birches. The Silver Birches is large and comfortable and easily accommodates 10 people. The tower is a big hit, especially with the young set who prefer sleeping there to a bedroom! The house is cleaned using gentle, natural cleaners and we recycle whatever we possibly can and compost. The theme of the small, friendly neighborhood is pleasure and peace. There is a space for a power boat. One can rent a boat to tour the interesting 26 mile long lake.
E mail me for photos of the inside and lots more of the outside See you at the lake!
