Overview

About the property

- 3 bedrooms plus loft, 3 full bathrooms, sleeps 13, 3100 sq ft

This new lakefront cedar log cabin is available the rental season! Minutes away from Mount Snow and Stratton, winter activities include: skiing, ice skating and ice fishing. Also 2 miles from the center of Wilmington.

The property has 160 ft of water frontage on Spruce Lake. Fish for brook trout in this privately stocked lake. Take our 2 canoes, 2 kayaks and paddle board out on the lake for a fishing or site-seeing trip. Swim from our private beach or canoe to a shared beach at the end of the lake. Fall asleep to the sound of the brook running just outside the cabin!

This is the perfect family vacation. The lake does not allow motor boats and the lake frontage has a shallow sandy entry.

Wildlife abound!: The lake, brook and surrounding woods provide a perfect wildlife habitat.

This year we've seen: moose, black bear, deer, heron, beaver, otter, geese, ducks. The family of ducks ask to be fed at least twice a day. Moose tracks have been seen on our beach. And a pair of black bear are well known to the area (keep the trash cans lids latched!).

The brook has brook trout, frogs, turtles and crayfish. And of course the lake is loaded with perch, brook trout, rock bass, and mud puppies.

In the surrounding woods the kids will also enjoy catching salamanders, newts, and garter snakes.

Waterfront Fire Pit ! We have a burn pit on our private beach. We provide the firewood; you provide the marshmallows!

About Tim Ryan

We love water and winter activities. So what could be better than a waterfront chalet 10 miles from Mount Snow!

Tim Ryan purchased this chalet in 2006

Why Tim Ryan chose Mt. Snow

We built this cedar log home as a 4 season retreat. The lake provides: fishing, swimming, canoeing, and ice skating.

And great skiing and golf is within 10 miles of the house.

What makes this chalet unique

The smell of cedar greets you at the door.

The house has geothermal heat and CENTRAL AIR CONDITIONING! No hot muggy summer nights here.

The lake has been privately stocked with brook trout and rainbow trout for over 20 years

Guestbook comments from the owner

Dear new family,

Hi! We are the kids of the previous family. You will notice there is a baby duck swimming around by herself. Her mother and four siblings (you will see these swimming around too) abandoned her. Well, her name is Petunla and she likes company. If you sit in the water she will swim around you. If you have any food, she would love to take it, but feed her sparingly. She needs to learn to find food by herself.

Thank you,

previos family

Wonderful any season!!!

  • 5 of 5

We had such a fantastic visit over the winter that we had to come back in the summer. The ice skating was so much fun with my children. They spent the entire time outside sledding, skating, roasting marshmellows and building snow caves. When we went back in the summer, it was like a whole new vacation, between, the swimming, canoeing, and expolring in the woods. We took our bikes out for a ride into town as well. I love the house!! It feels like a luxury to be in a space that is so clean and comfortable. Having the movies and games for kids was great. Thank you for a wonderful vacation. We are going to be back for sure.

Perfect for a family with young children

  • 5 of 5

Quiet, with herons, birds and bullfrogs. Easy canoeing and fishing. Perfect for small children. You could swim right at the property or at the beach down the road. Clean and safe home with child gate at the top of the stairs. 3 baths. Wonderful quality time with our children and grandchildren. Lots of good restaurants nearby.

Wonderful Ski Vacation Rental

  • 5 of 5

This is a beautiful house! We spent the weekend skiing at The Hermitage Club and thoroughly enjoyed coming home to the warmth of this home. Love the amount of room in this house. Very spacious!! Would highly recommend that anyone considering this house for a ski vacation to The Hermitage or Mt. Snow keep this is mind.

Pure Bliss

  • 5 of 5

Spruce Lake, my favorite vacation spot! I travel a lot, however I am never as sad to return home as I am when leaving Spruce Lake! We look forward to this trip all year long. This beautiful cabin truly is the perfect "home away" from home. We have been here about 8 times now, we've been coming with friends since 2011 (sometimes twice a year). Great rental for families or just adults of any age! Our favorite part of getting there is the initial walk into the house. We are instantly reminded of the tranquility and the fun ahead as we stare out the back windows over the peaceful view. As you may have read in previous reviews, it is always fully stocked with cooking and cleaning supplies. There is a washer and dryer, TV's, games, as well as a beautiful finished basement. The house is super clean and so inviting. We love sitting by the wood stove at night with everyone after we've cooked our "Vermont country dinner". It is such an awesome kitchen to cook in as they have everything, and it is so cozy. We also love making big breakfasts. A favorite thing to do is sit on the deck, just staring at the view. There are some really cool chairs too! There is something about looking at the water and the quiet houses across the lake that is just so peaceful and relaxing.

There is an excellent coffee shop called the "Coffee House" about 2 minutes from the house. I look forward to the coffee all year! There are also some cool antique shops next door. There is also a Shaw's, Rite Aid, and a gas station all right there. Nothing beats driving around the area, and experiencing the scenery. We love seeing the farms, open land, and the old homes. Living outside of Providence, it's so nice to get away from rushing/busy areas. It is so laid back, relaxed, and calm at the house and in town. Total bliss compared to everyday life! We love hanging at the house. If you like to explore it is fun to walk around the towns of Bennington, Wilmington, and Brattleboro. There are great breakfast places: Jezebel's & Dot's. We discovered a taco place for lunch this time called Cilantro's-it was delicious. Adam's Farm is not far and they have a nice petting zoo!

We have made many memories and traditions here over the years. I could never imagine staying in another home in Vermont. Can't wait to go back. Tim is awesome! He's friendly and quick to answer any questions you may have. Thank you Tim and Sharon! One and only complaint is having to leave!

Beautiful property perfect for a family vacation!

  • 5 of 5

Recently spent a week in August in this beautiful home. My family was joined by my mother and my sister and her family for a total of 5 adults and 5 children age 3-17. The home itself was clean and inviting....much larger than it looks in the online photos. The view from the deck is fabulous, the upstairs bathroom is huge, loft is inviting and the downstairs family & playroom were a great unexpected surprise (high ceilings, bright, very clean, cool, two washers/two dryers and a full fridge in addition to the dart board and ping pong table). Plenty of room for everyone to spread out but we spent most of our time together hanging out down by the lake.

The yard had a nice lawn that extended all the way down to the lake. Good access walk into the lake to swim or to launch one of the two kayaks, two canoes or the paddle board that came with the rental. Our kids swam and played on the lake all day. The firepit with four anorondak chairs was just steps from the water's edge. We picked raspberries and blackberries from the bushes along the side of the property. Plenty of room for parking multiple cars. The town of Wilmington and the grocery store are less than 5 minutes away.

We all enjoyed our relaxing family weekend on this small private lake in the quiet community. We had planned on some outings but found no reason to leave so we just stayed and hung out at the house. Already talking about returning in the fall or next summer.

A real summer vacation

  • 4 of 5

This was a great spot for children and parents alike. Very private with no neighbors there; only one group at the other end of the lake; felt like we had the whole place to ourselves. The house is in wonderful condition, nicer than many rentals; we felt like we were guests at someone's home. There was more than enough room for four adults and two 5 year olds, and there is plenty to do. The kids loved being able to run through the yard right to the lake or investigate the brook next to the house. Really appreciated the use of the canoes, kayaks, paddleboard -- all right there and great fun. We saw a beaver swimming in the lake and a resident heron glide across every now and then. Enjoyed hanging out on the large deck. We cook, and were happy with the updated kitchen. You'd never know it but Wilmington is about five minutes away, with grocery store, restaurants, shops, if you need that. Hiking, blueberry picking nearby (by car). Bubbling brook at night, mist on the lake in the morning -- a relaxing spot. Thanks Tim and family. I definitely recommend this for a family with kids of any age, or adults with no kids, people who want to be active or just sit and enjoy the view.
