Location, Location, Location!

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I stayed in this apartment for three months. The location is fantastic. The address is a little misleading as this is a corner apartment (which means many windows with great views) on St. Germain Blvd. St. Germain is a busy street with lots of cafes, restaurants, shopping, bookstores, etc. I absolutely love this location as you are just minutes from Notre Dame and the Seine River (where there are always things going on). You can also easily walk to every major sight-seeing spot in Paris. Only Sacre Couer is a ways away, but if you are good walkers, you can walk there too. The bus stop and metro station are steps away, as is a major market that comes on Tues., Thurs, and Saturday. Steps away you will also find one of Paris' best fromagerie, a boulangerie, charcurtierie, butcher, and more. You can get all your food fresh every day, if you don't want to eat at restaurants. The apartment is large enough for two people. Four can stay here, but the bathroom is in the bedroom, so it could be awkward depending on who is staying with you. But for two, the space is perfect. Plenty of storage, the bathroom is larger than expected, so we had even more room here to keep things. There is a washing machine in the bathroom, and the laundry mat is steps away from the buildings front door. I highly recommend this apartment to anyone who wants to be in the middle of everything Paris has to offer.

Bright and sunny apartment in a super location

  • 4 of 5

We thoroughly enjoyed our weeklong stay in Paris, and at the Beauvais apartment.

The apartment itself is quite beautiful with wooden floors and high ceilings, and the many windows fill the apartment with sunlight. For us the location was truly perfect: the metro is right outside the door, there are six bus lines within a block, the laundromat and an ATM are literally right downstairs, the Maubert market is only a block away, as are groceries, bakery, cafes, etc. The pictures of the apartment and the furtniture are accurate, but there are some nice additional touches, like for example: the heated drying rack in the bathroom; the true darkening curtains in the bedroom; the high-quality of the windows throughout (so no street noise came in); and the separation of the bedroom and living area, making the bedroom very quiet. The Internet was fast and reliable - important for us, and much appreciated.

Others have commented on the couch in the living room (my partner found it uncomfortable, but I thought it was OK), some unfortunate water damage in the bathroom, and noise from other tenants; on that last point, while we could sometimes hear footsteps from upstairs, this is something I think one should expect in an older building, and frankly we found the whole building very quiet. Others have also commented on the "early check-in" process, but we thought the fee was reasonable and we were happy to be able to get in early after a long overnight flight. (It's important to remember that this is an apartment, not a hotel...)

Jean-Noel and Karen stayed in touch with us via email during the week, and that was much appreciated. We had a few minor issues during our stay (e.g., the sound on the TV didn't work, and the "entry phone" system doesn't seem to work) but for the most part issues were addressed quickly or didn't affect our stay.

great location; student-level apt.

  • 3 of 5

Terrific location for walking, public transportation (inc. Taxi rank close-by), one block to groceries, artisanal bakery as noted by other reviewers. Comfortable bed, adequate kitchen with minimal glassware/crockery (no decent cutting knife), but overall quite livable if you're out all day and don't mind folding chairs, an uncomfortable couch, and peeling paint in bathroom and elsewhere. (Best thing about living room is the windows and light.) Noise from neighbors gets through ceiling and walls--but not from the busy street. Probably better for a shorter stay than a longer one. The key pick-up, while simple enough, is arcane, and would be very unpleasant to get or return in rain or snow storms -- and is challenging in darkness. [and the early check-in requires an additional fee--for the same routine--and isn't guaranteed before you're already in the air on any flight taking more than 10hours] Would help to have the more informative instructions with the others on kitchen shelf rather than posted at the end of the longish, darkish entry hall.

This is a marvelous neighborhood, have enjoyed it many times, and this could be a first class rental with just a bit of updating with an eye to personal comfort.

Owner's Response: Hi Robert, Thanks for your review. We are pleased to hear that you found the apartment to be in a terrific location with a comfortable bed and adequate kitchen. Some of your comments are not usual. As one can see, the apartment is described as well maintained, clean, comfortable and quiet by previous reviewers. Noise problem is not a regular complaint, the best explanation we have would be the presence of short term guests in an apartment above that were probably a little loudy. It is true that old buildings were not soundproof. It is true that although the bed is very comfortable, the couch is not of the highest standard. It simply does its job. We have advised the owner to upgrade it. There is indeed a little part of painting peeling in the bathroom. It is linked to a repaired leak but has to fully dry before being repainted. It should be repainted after the summer. Early check in is confirmed 48 hours before your stay as we must be sure no other guests checks out on the day of your arrival. It is a service we propose to help our guests whenever possible. It is generally greatly appreciated also. Overall, we are happy you enjoyed your stay. This apt is considered by our guests as a “good deal for the price” in a great location. The owners will rework on the bathroom paint as soon as possible. It is always possible to be looking for a higher standard apartment, we would gladly propose you one for one for your future stays. Sincerely,

Fabulous apartment to stay in the heart of the Latin quarter

  • 4 of 5

If you have ever wandered the streets of Paris (particularly the Latin quarter) and dreamed of living like a Parisian in one of those beautiful apartments - then this is your chance. Situated on the first floor floor (there is a lift if required) and on a street corner, the apartment kitchen/living area has 3 great windows - so lots of light and street views. When the windows are open you can enjoy all the sounds of a bustling Paris street - close the windows and it is quiet and calm. The apartment was very comfortable, a good size, well equipped, clean and well maintained. Self service check in and check out was very clear and straightforward. Responses from the host were prompt, efficient and friendly. Other reviews have mentioned the shower, the bed and the security refund. The shower has a side screen and keeping the water from falling directly onto this screen stops water dripping onto the floor - this is quite manageable and the shower pressure is great. The shower is located in the bath and the bath is quite high so this may not suit people with mobility issues. The bed was a good size and very comfortable. It is low to the ground on a proper bed frame (not on the ground) The washing machine worked perfectly and if drying clothes quickly is an issue, there is a laundromat next door. Our deposit was refunded within 4 working days of our stay. Overall - this is a great apartment in a wonderful location (very close to a Metro station and bus stops). We would certainly stay there again and recommend it to friends.

Location, Location, Location!

  • 5 of 5

we spent a month in the apartment and thoroughly enjoyed it.

We should start with Location, Location, Location! The apartment is perfectly located for visiting central Paris. The Metro and bus stops are next door, the grocer across the street and the Maubert market and Boulangerie a half block away. The restaurants of the Latin quarter are but a short walk, as is Notre Dame, the Pantheon, Luxembourg gardens and of course, the St. Germain shops, which are a short bus or metro ride away.

We loved sitting by the windows with our morning coffee or a drink in the afternoon watching the activity on the street below.

We really enjoyed our stay and would stay here again.

It is indeed perfectly located and so central that you can walk to most of the interesting spots of the city. The nearby Maubert market is great for shopping fresh food, great cheeses, excellent wines…and so on. Hope to host you again in Paris!

Nice apartment in a fantastic location!

  • 4 of 5

My husband and I really enjoyed our recent stay here and found it perfectly suited for two people. The living/dining/kitchen area was a nice size and we had everything we needed in the kitchen. The windows overlook Blvd Saint-Germain and we had fun people-watching when we weren't out and about. The location is terrific with many shops and cafes within a short walk. It's also right by a metro station and there are numerous bus stops close by. It was great being able to grab a fresh baguette, fruit, cheese, and wine within a two minute walk of the apartment. Also, there's an ATM machine just downstairs and a laundromat as well. There is a washer and drying rack in the bathroom but it was very nice to have dryers close by.

The bedroom is a tight squeeze to get around the bed but we managed and it was comfortable for sleeping. There's ample storage space in the bedroom and lots of shelves in the bathroom. The main reason I'm giving only 4 stars is the shower. It is impossible to take a stand-up shower without getting water all over the floor, walls, and toilet and the bathroom shows sign of this wear and tear. Overall we really liked the apartment, especially the location and the front living area.

Owner's Response: Hi Terri, Thanks for your kind review! Nice to hear you enjoyed your stay in the apartment and found it perfectly suited for two people. It is indeed in a terrific location with many shops and cafes. Fresh baguette, fruit, cheese, and wine are all to be found on the Maubert market, within a two minute walk of the apartment. There is a side screen for the shower; it is a normal protection here that we are used to. Hope to host you again in Paris!
