Perfect get away from it all place

  • 4 of 5

We enjoyed the Lake House. Did not spend enough time to explore all it had to offer, but it was comfortable, roomy and clean. We loved how there were pieces of familiar everywhere in the decorations. We did not find the washer and dryer, but that is ok. and were not sure what to do with the trash, but hope the cleaners got there so the house did not get smelly. Great experience and would definitely rent it again.

Owner's Response: I'm so glad that you enjoyed my home....sorry about the washer and dryer... they are in the living room in the wooden cabinets..... I am pleased you enjoyed my decor.... this was my parents' home for 30 years.... lots of great memories... the trash was no problem because my cleaner comes as soon as you leave....we don't leave it outside because of the critters.... lol.... it was my pleasure to have you in my home... most beautiful lake i have ever seen

  • 4 of 5

it was a great experience. the home was very well located, the cove was great for swimming and for Coco to swim. the lake was beautiful; you must explore the lake via boat, only real way to appreciate it's grandness; only suggestion is to get ESPN package so we could have watched some football, but other than that, it was great.

Cozy home away from home

  • 5 of 5

My wife and I have visited Lake Santeetlah several times over the years. We had planned on staying on the Lake at another rental with my family the month before but were unable to go due to work. We found this rental and were pleasantly surprised it was available on such short notice. We didn't need a huge home since it was just the two of us. The size of the home was perfect for us and as another reviewer wrote the additional downstairs wing with bedroom, living room, bath and small kitchen would be perfect for another couple or small family. The air conditioner froze the 3rd day of our stay but Barbara quickly responded to us and the air was fixed by the next day! Every morning we had coffee on the porch enjoying the beautiful mountain scenery. We cooked only a few nights and Barbara had all the pots pans and silverware we needed. We ate at the downstairs grill at Tapoco Lodge twice. Great atmosphere where you can watch the creek. The Greek Pizza and desserts were amazing and they offered a full bar! We rented a jet ski one day and boat another from Dayton Camp. Highly recommend this easy going family owned rental company. They gave us an extra hour for free on the boat rental! We had a wonderful stay and recommend this property to anyone looking for a property that is cozy and feels like a home away from home.

Great Getaway

  • 5 of 5

I just returned from a very relaxing stay at this house, and would highly recommend it to anyone traveling to Lake Santeetlah, especially if you prefer charm and a homey feel to the character-less 4-story vacation mansions that have increased in number on Lake Santeetlah in recent years. My boyfriend and I were looking to spend a relaxing long weekend on the lake, and this house gave us a great home-base for lots of hiking in Joyce Kilmer and Slickrock Creek, and some time playing on the lake.

The house itself is the perfect size for a couple or a smaller family. It has two floors, with a living area and bedroom on both floors. We primarily used the top floor, since it was just the two of us. But we easily could have invited another couple along with us, and they would have had the privacy of their own bedroom and kitchen-esque area. The feature we most enjoyed was the covered deck, which had a couple of rocking chairs, a swinging bench, and a picnic table. It rained off and on one of the weekend we were there, and it was so wonderful to be able to sit out, watch the rainclouds come in over the lake, and then listen to the rain fall while having a romantic dinner outside.

The easy lake access was also really wonderful. We rented a jetski from Deyton Camp one of the sunny days we were there (which, by the way, I would highly recommend--the husband and wife team running Deyton Camp are really wonderful people). We were able to dock the jetski at the house and take about an hour break for lunch. A note for people traveling with young children or who are unsteady--the dock is a more traditional wooden dock, and so the ramp up to the dock is a bit slick where it meets the water. We managed it just fine all weekend without any tumbles, but it is worth being mindful of!

Barbara was also really responsive during our stay. We called her twice with some questions, and both times she called us back almost immediately. Before going she was very patient with my questions and gave us all the information we needed. I really cannot say enough kind things about Barbara, and her home was almost as wonderful as she was. I'll definitely be checking back in with her the next time we come back to Lake Santeetlah.

Felt like going to a friend's place for the week

  • 5 of 5

Lake Santeetlah is one of those rare mountain lakes that were discovered a long time ago. Because of this, the lakeside cottage some of us remember growing up exist. These were the houses built to be used by family and friends in a day before the 5000 sq ft. lakeside mansions popped up everywhere and had charm and character. The owners would make improvements and sometimes expand the home as their families grew and the personal touches were everywhere.

The Lee house is one of these places and the owner made us feel like we were family friends coming in for the week to share the home and memories created all these years. The house was clean, the amenities exactly what we expected and the lake and views were perfect.

Thanks for letting us share this experience.
