Camp Yachats Vacation Cottage... in a garden setting with forest and ocean!

Bedrooms 2
Property type cottage
Minimum Stay 2 nights

About the property

Cottage, 2 Bedrooms, 1 Bath, (Maximum 4 persons))

When you check in at Camp Yachats Vacation Cottage, you will be greeted by fresh flowers, the world's largest ocean, and the Siuslaw National Forest. And our rates are simple... TAXES ARE INCLUDED, NO DEPOSIT, NO ADDITIONAL CLEANING FEE! We are pet-friendly... up to two well-behaved dogs are welcome, and will be charged $25 each... per stay, not per night! And like a hotel, we add NO extra fees for cleaning or otherwise.

This one of a kind cottage, privately owned and managed by the on-site owners, is situated on two acres and abuts the National Forest. Flower beds, rhododendrons, and flowering trees provide seasonal color throughout.

We are located about 6.5 miles south of the village, on the inland side of the gorgeous stretch of shoreline between Cape Perpetua and Heceta Head.

The two front rooms and the porch offer ocean views through the trees. The cottage features 2 bedrooms, a small well-equipped kitchen, a living room, a small dining room, and a small bright bathroom.

You can relax on the porch, listen to the ocean’s waves, and breathe in the cool clean air while keeping an eye out for the eagles and hummingbirds in residence.

Walk to the beach down our private mossy path edged by ferns, salal, huckleberry, and Sitka spruce. There you’ll find wide sandy beaches and rocky tide pools, only 800 feet from your front door, just across the Scenic Pacific Coast Byway. Stroll along the beaches, typically empty except for agates, driftwood, and shore birds.

Just behind the cottage a trail leads to the banks of the year round Mill Creek (about 150 feet from your back door), with tall trees, ferns, and wildflowers all around. Or you might unwind at the table under an apple tree in the backyard garden.

This charming cottage is a perfect spot for your base for exploring the magic of the Oregon Coast. We provide a small library of specially selected books on a variety of local topics, including history of the area, geology and flora and fauna. The cottage is also equipped with board games and jigsaw puzzles for your enjoyment.

Whimsy abounds, with an Elvis shrine, a sock monkey haven, local folk art, a sand collection, vintage Oregon plates, a little red-and-white retro red kitchen, and lots more surprises!

Your hosts live on site next door, and would be delighted to help in any way possible to make your stay a memorable one. If you desire an amenity or service not listed, please ask anyway. In many cases you can be accommodated.

• Ocean views and easy private beach access

• Complimentary tea and coffee

• Dog friendly; dog towels provided for your good doggies

• Wi-Fi access

• Simple rates... TAXES INCLUDED, NO EXTRA FEES for humans. Up to two good dogs are welcome, $25 each for the duration of your stay.

• Two beds, maximum 4 persons

About A Victoria Lambert

We are your hosts, Victoria Lambert and Paul Niblock. Paul previously lived on five continents, then both of us traveled the lower 48 states looking for our perfect spot. We think we have it! We enjoy the ocean 800' from our door, the cleanest freshest air you can imagine, dark rich earth for gardening, lush green forest around us, a creek in the back yard, mountains behind us, lots of solitude, and a year-round temperate climate... we don't need air-conditioning and we don't shovel snow. Life is good!

A Victoria Lambert purchased this cottage in 2001

What makes this cottage unique

Outside: the beach, the mighty Pacific, the forest, the creek, the flowers and apple trees... and eagles, elk, bears, coyotes, sea lions, seals, otters, eagles and hummingbirds to share it with.

And inside: all the practical stuff you need to make your visit go smoothly... plus fun furnishings and loads of whimsy, Elvis, sock monkeys, and a growing sand collection from all over the globe!

Guestbook comments from the owner

Thank you for sharing this little piece of heaven with us... Loved the garden... [My grandson] loved his bedroom and wanted to take it home with him... See you next year!

peacefully charming

Owners are so nice and accommodating! The house and property are quaint, quiet, well equipped and with easy beach access. Will definitely stay here again when we are in this area of the coast. So many great things to see and do around this area.

Quiet cottage escape

  • 5 of 5

A great little cottage just across the street from the beach! It was perfect to have a fenced yard for the pooches. We had the beach mostly to ourselves and, though the kitchen is small, we were able to cook a Thanksgiving meal.

Great get-away!

  • 4 of 5

Our second stay here, and it was even better than last time. This visit, there was just 2 of us plus our pooch- so the really 'cozy' kitchen, bath, dining and family areas suited us just fine. The bedrooms are really inviting, comfortable and spacious. We really enjoy all the memorabilia used for decorating- there is a LOT to peruse, and touring each of the rooms is great entertainment in itself. Love the spectacular, lightly-used beach, rocks and tidepools, plus the garden and trails 'out back' were fun to explore. Proximity to Cape Perpetua and Yachats is a real bonus- this is a spectacular section of the Oregon coast. Thanks so much for sharing your place with us, and for your wonderful hospitality- we'll be back!

Wonderful Cottage with great host!

  • 5 of 5

We had a great stay at the cottage. My Wife, Lab, and Myself were welcomed and showed around. Everything we wanted on this trip exceeded expectations. We have stayed at many home away properties in the past and our two biggest issues have been the lack of hot showers and too much noise. This rental was the best in both of any place we have previously rented. Super quiet and hot as you want showers!

Thanks for a great stay!

Totally Perfect

  • 5 of 5

We arrived at Camp Yachats and immediately felt at home, kind of like going to visit your grandma. We were treated to natural handmade soaps and lotion made by our hostess. The kitchen was well stocked with dishes and cooking utensils (but who cooks on vacation)? The cottage was spotless, linens plentiful, and the beds were very comfortable after long days of trekking the beaches and forests. The grounds surrounding the cottage were amazing. We had our own little hobbit trail to the mountain spring at the back of the property and the yard was one large whimsical garden. The local restaurants served delicious meals and the shops were welcoming and friendly. The beach was amazing, full of sealife and rock formations. We spent hours walking on the beaches and soaking up the wonderful energy of Yachats. We will be staying at Camp Yachats again!
