I am a mother of 2 sons (7 and 4). My husband and I rent our cottage which is located within the grounds of our home. Both my husband and I have been involved in international business and offer a vacation rental that meets our own exacting standards.
Owner purchased this Cottage in 2004
Why Owner chose Bisley-with-Lypiatt
The vacation rental was previously a disused barn which offered itself for sympathetic development into a holiday rental. It has enhanced our property as it is situated within the grounds which are themselves situated within an 'area of outstanding natural beauty'. The cottage benefits from it's own private garden, separate from us. We are 'on hand' if you need us but respect your privacy if you don't!
What makes this Cottage unique
Situated within the beautiful and historic Cotswolds with easy access to the famous sites of the area. The cottage is situated within a very quiet village with many walks through outstanding countryside. Proximity to the Roman towns of Bath, Cheltenham and Cirencester as well as good train links to London (1.5 hours). The cottage guarantees a fantastic nights sleep as we pride ourselves on the quality not only of our furniture but of our beds and bed linen. We are also on-site and are able to provide local knowledge and assistance during peoples' stay.

Comfortable base for exploring the west Cotswalds
This cute cottage was great to come home to at the end of a day exploring. The beds were comfortable and the shower had great pressure and lots of hot water. The entire cottage is fully stocked, but the part we loved the best is the huge amount of maps and descriptions of local walks. Oakridge Lynch is a cute, friendly village with a local store and a great pub. We ended up finding more places and towns to visit that we ran out of time. We look forward to returning.
Lots of rural England roads are very narrow (especially to Americans), with lots of single lanes. But everyone on the road is polite and we had no mishaps. If you're new to driving on the 'proper side' of the roads in the UK, I would highly recommend getting an automatic transmission in your rental car.
Restful, charming cottage
The five days we spent here in the Cotswolds were the highlight of our trip to England. Jayne was welcoming and pleasant. We took walks around Oakridge Lynch and Bisley, relaxed on the patio of an evening with wine and cheese, and had a couple of meals at the Butcher's Arms (great place by the way). The cottage amenities are complete and functional, with the niggling exception of wi-fi connection which hiccuped on occasion. No great loss.
Thank you so much for your positive review. We very much enjoyed hosting you. Many apologies for the wifi. We have now replaced the hub and all working well for future guests. You were very patient! Jayne
Beautiful area, lovely cottage
We loved this place! It was seriously a home away from home, down to the jigsaw puzzles in the living room. We stayed for a peaceful, quiet week in the middle of a hectic trip and it was very nice.
The only problem we had was with the roads. It was our first time driving in England and it was a trial by fire. The roads in this area are all one lane and people go both directions on them so there is always a chance of coming around one of the many blind corners straight into someone else's car. Which wouldn't be too bad if everyone drove slowly, but they don't. The speed limit in the area is a ridiculous 30 mph and it seems that most of the drivers are driving that fast. We meant to use the cottage as a base camp for exploring cities in the area, but we ended up staying at home for all but two days because it was just too stressful to venture out on the roads. Maybe we're just too timid, but it is a consideration for drivers who aren't used to British cars.
That said, we thoroughly enjoyed the days we spent at home. We climbed stiles and tramped through fields and visited little village post offices and generally explored the neighborhood. It wasn't exactly what we had planned but it was fun and beautiful regardless.
A little bit of Heaven
Our cottage was well equipped and comfortable. The grounds picturesque with outdoor seating. Our host, Jayne, and her family were delightful and catered to our every need. We loved the quiet village and found everything that we needed in the little store and post office run by Oscar. The only pub in the village served very good food and the staff was very friendly but be sure to reserve a table. It was so easy to walk to both.
So pleased you enjoyed your stay. It was lovely to meet you all. Thank you for looking after the cottage so well. Perfect guests!
A Great Base For A Walking Holiday
Our 5th stay at this property. We like it for its quiet location and for the lovely country walks in the immediate vicinity.
It's always lovely to see returning guests and geoffrey and Sue have visited many times. They are perfect guests. Very respectful of the property and clearly enjoy the walks and butterfly life in the area. Hope to see them next year !
lovely cotswold cottage in walking country
The cottage is exactly as described on the web site. The layout is unusual because the bed rooms are down stairs and the living room above, which adds to the charm. It is very well equipped and comfortable and only a few minutes walk from the local shop and the Butchers arms pub run by a very friendly Irish man. The pub does get busy so booking for Sunday lunch or dinner is very much recommended. Jayne the owner of the cottage lives next door so is on hand for any problems or advice. The village is at the centre of many footpaths and the cotswold way is easily linked up with. We had a lovely few days despite the changeable weather.
