In the winter enjoy alpine skiing 2 miles down the road at Sierra-at-Tahoe or take the short 15-minute drive to the world-class ski resort Heavenly Valley. Cross-country skiing and snowshoeing are right out your back door and the state run Adventure Mountain Snow Park is less than a mile away.
In the summer, picturesque Echo Lake, less than a mile away, is a fun local attraction for swimming, fishing and kayaking. South Lake Tahoe is known for its plethora of scenic hiking trails for any level of hiker, including the famous Pacific Crest Trail which borders the east side of the property.
The lakeside town of South Lake Tahoe is only 15 minutes away with several world-class restaurants, marinas, shopping and casinos. In summary, this cabin is a perfect getaway, whether you want to relax in seclusion or explore the great outdoors.
We love this home because it's close to family friendly Sierra-at-Tahoe ski resort, Desolation Wilderness and Lovers Leap Climbing area. No need to fight traffic - you're 'home' in minutes! The home is away from the crowds of South Lake Tahoe, yet close enough to enjoy all the sights there too.
Great location for year-round activities. In addition to winter snow play, summer activities include hiking, boating, and rock climbing. Echo Lake is only about 1 mile past the home which gives access to many day hikes in Desolation Wilderness. It's a gorgeous hike around the lake; and you can take a boat ride back across the lake! South Lake Tahoe is also just over the hill.
Or just stay at the house to relax and enjoy the 1 1/2 acre area wooded area property. We enjoy sitting out on the covered deck overlooking the backyard and visiting after a fun day of activities.
Everything was as described. The kitchen was particularly well-stocked with more than you need, everything easy to find and in a logical place. Easy check in and check out. Very clean and comfortable. Lots of helpful guide books to flip through. Echo Lake is a lovely place. Would definitely recommend to friends and hope to return ourselves.
Great location with all the amenities you need for vacation. The deck is a nice place to spend time. The Owners are very nice and have set up the house so that you can relax and enjoy yourself. I highly recommend it to all.
We enjoyed three days at the Echo Summit Chalet with our family. The home is well stocked with everything you need to have a great weekend. We enjoyed grilling on the large deck and star gazing at night. The home is wonderful and we had a very peaceful stay. Echo lake is close by and Tahoe is a quick trip away. Ann was great and very responsive and helpful. I would highly recommend this home and look forward to staying again.
This was our 2nd time staying here and what a treat to wake up to a foot of new snow. Sierra at Tahoe being a couple minutes away was so convenient considering we typically drive up for the day (1.5 hours) then drive home after a long day on the mountain. We'll be back for sure.
Our family spent three days at this cabin last week and had an amazing time. After one rainy cloudy day, we were lucky enough to have a storm roll in and drop nearly 2 feet of snow overnight! Our two girls (6 and 8) had a ball playing in the back yard with the provided sleds. The inside of the cabin was cozy, comfortable and well stocked. We especially enjoyed the satellite radio, huge selection of games and the awesome wood stove. Only ding in our stay was a broken dishwasher which the owners advised us of ahead of time. We would definitely recommend this cabin and can't wait for our next trip.
Our second time staying here and once again what a lovely time. This house fits two families perfectly as it has plenty of room for sleeping and everybody can have a little of their own space (three stories!). We skied at Sierra for two of the three days and the preferred parking permit comes in handy. In addition, it is very close to the ski area...yet has the feel of being remote because you are off of the main highway.
Hiking right out your door! The cabin borders the Pacific Crest Trail with easy access to Echo Lake in addition to the abundance of trails in the South Lake Tahoe Area.
