Cottage, 1 Bedroom, 1.5 Baths, sleeps 4
We invite you to enjoy our little piece of paradise on Long Pond, a 50-acre fresh water pond. Nestled at the bottom of a hill, surrounded by pines, on the edge of Long Pond with approximately 280’ of private waterfront and a private dock, the Boathouse remains as it was in the first half of the 20th century, but with modern updates.
With vaulted ceilings and abundant water views, whether being observed from inside through the cottages' windows and glass sliding doors or from the deck on the edge of the water, you will find Long Pond Cottage a perfect place to gather friends or family or just relax in solitude. The Boathouse was originally built as an ice house in the 20s and expanded to a boathouse by Major Stuart who lived across the street in his summer home. The cottage was sold in the 40s and the 1.5 bathrooms and living room added making it a simple cottage.
The cottage retains its vintage charm. All of the rooms of the cottage face onto the pond providing spectacular sunsets. Sliding glass doors on the Boathouse lead from the living room and kitchen/dining area to the deck. The Boathouse has one bedroom with a queen size bed, a living room with a couch that folds down to a queen size bed, a large kitchen/dining area, a fully stocked kitchen, one and one-half baths, and an open air deck at the edge of the pond.
The Property includes a small private dock, a beach pass to all Barnstable beaches, 2 kayaks, and permits a well-behaved dog in accordance with our dog policy on our lease.
Along with your bathing suit, towel and book, bring your walking shoes, canoe and bicycle and leave your worries behind. We invite you to enjoy our little piece of paradise on the edge of Long Pond, located in Centerville, Massachusetts - a place that we hope that you find as special and unique as we do.
Centerville sits on a peninsula on the southern side of Barnstable. With its maritime location on Nantucket Sound, Centerville was once home to wealthy ship captains who built stately homes on Main Street in the early 1800s (just around the corner from the Cottages). Centerville is also home to Craigville, Covell and Long Beaches and the famous Four Seas Ice Cream, all within a one-mile walk from our pond-front cottage.
The cottage is a unique, designed simply for your comfort – to relax, nap, read, swim, paddle a canoe or kayak, take a walk or bike ride, have an ice cream, explore the beaches and discover why the Cape is such a special place.

About Judi Devaney
We are four siblings and a husband/brother-in-law who purchased this property last fall 2008. Cape Cod has always been in our hearts, having summered here as children and vacationed here as adults. We wanted a place to reconnect as family in a place we love. We hope that you find Long Pond Cottage as special and unique as we do. We are standing on the deck of the Boathouse toasting our new cottage on Long Pond.
Judi Devaney purchased this Cottage in 2008
Why Judi Devaney chose Centerville
We love the Cottage for its simple, functional form, use of wood, blending into the surrounding natural landscape and location right on Long Pond. We also love that Long Pond Cottage is located around the corner from the historic Village of Centerville and Four Seas Ice Cream which has fabulous lobster rolls!
What makes this Cottage unique
Tranquility, relaxation, swimming and boating right out the back door and alfresco living. There are no motor boats permitted on Long Pond, making this a quiet place to relax.

Relaxed, Easygoing and Charming
Judi was warm, friendly and helpful with any questions that I had. The cottage was perfect for us. It was awesome to be right on the lake. Centerville is such a great town, and ideal location. Some days we ventured out around Cape Cod, but just being on the lake with that view was a pleasure. I appreciated that it was a pet friendly community as well.
Unique cottages in the perfect location
My family and I just got back from our stay at the cottages. Our very first impression was that it felt like an English cottage. Both cottages were much more spacious than I had imagined and having the second cottage made it feel like a summer camp for my 2 children. Having the lake right outside the door was perfect. We swam, kayaked, and sat out on the dock, everyday. Even our dog had a fantastic time! In the evenings, we walked down to get ice cream, went to the playground, and visited the country store. All of that was within .85 miles of the cottages. We were very sad to leave but I am sure we will be back next year.
Jodi, You and your family were ideal guests! It was wonderful to meet your children and a delight to see all of you relax and enjoy the cottages! I look forward to seeing you stay with me in the future! Enjoy the rest of your summer and I wish the kids a great school year!
Beautiful pond cottage
My husband and I had a wonderful two weeks. The pond was so beautiful that we never felt the need to go any place else. Judy provided us with a list of restaurants in the area and the food was fantastic at all of them. The cottage was very clean. There were kayaks for paddling around. I loved watching the fish jumping in the pond, the ducks and geese swimming by.
Kit, Thank you for your kind review. I'm delighted that you and your husband had a wonderful stay. I hope to see you both next summer. I hope you enjoy the final days of Sumer and carry those warm feelings into the winter!
All my best. Judi
Relaxation and Stunning View
We recently returned from two weeks at Long Pond Cottages with our two dogs. Judy was wonderful and responded quickly when we had any questions! The deck sits right at the waters edge and is so serene and relaxing. We had use of their three kayaks and rented a paddle board. Long Pond is perfect for all of the above. The house was very clean and well stocked and we were welcomed with a bottle of wine and a large bag of chips. I am a big beach person, but must admit that in the two weeks we spent at the cottages, I only ventured to the beach twice. Thank you for a wonderful vacation spot. I would highly recommend!
Betsy, Thank you for your wonderful review. I'm glad that you were able to have a relaxing stay and enjoyed the cottages. I'm also happy that you were able to share part of this stay with your adult children. I hope to see you and your family again at Long Ond Cottages. Enjoy the last days of summer. Judi
A Very Special Place
My husband and I along with our 2 dogs had a fantastic week of relaxation and tranquility. The water is so close you feel like you are on a house boat and the studio is a perfect place to kick back and read or take a nap. The cottages were very clean and a lot larger than the pictures suggest. I love to cook and the kitchen was equipped with everything I needed to create fantastic meals. We live only about 40 minutes away so my sister and parents visited one afternoon and they fell in love with the place I thought they were going to ask to stay the night! Also, Judi was fantastic. Very helpful and responsive. When I emailed about the Wi-Fi password she responded very quickly and also checked in mid week to make sure we had everything we needed. Ed and I (along with pup dogs, Betty and Jerry) very much look forward to returning next year. Thanks Judi and family for making available such a very special place!
Thank you Laurie and Ed!
I'm so happy that you and the dogs enjoyed your stay at Long Pond Cottages. Your words were very kind. I too agree that the cottages are a special place! I look forward to your special family returning next year.
Be well. Enjoy the rest of your summer!
Wonderful week at Long Pond Cottages
This is a wonderful rustic cottage with a great location. The central location is ideal for touring the Cape and the cottage is very private. You can start your day by enjoying your morning coffee on the deck and end the day on the deck sipping a glass of wine! The kitchen is well stocked and ideal if you are inclined to eat in. The host Judi makes you feel right at home. This is a great place!
Barbara, You are your husband were a wonderful couple. It was my pleasure to have met you both and have you as my guests. I'm so happy you enjoyed your stay and I hope to see you both one day in the future! Have a warm and cozy winter! Judi
