About Ann Francois
My husband and I met in the mountains of New Mexico where we both had gone to enjoy the beauty and peace. It was a little rough going at first, as Willy, being French, didn't speak much English and me, being American, knew little French. It's now been 35 we've both learned each other's language. Now the struggle is to learn Spanish! Although we lived in NYC when we returned from New Mexico, we eventually made our home in the mountains of Pennsylvania. Our home has become a work of art both inside and out. We are surrounded by nature and light. We started our own company that has been ongoing since 1990, devoting our lives to creating beautifully crafted artworks. My husband and I discovered Manuel Antonio almost 25 years ago and fell in love immediately..When the opportunity arose, we were able to purchase the last plot of land in Chaman and built our home in the style we and spacious, surrounding by nature and beauty. Every year that we visit, we try to improve and make our home more comfortable, We are happy to share our paradise and hopefully bring a bit of happiness into the lives of others.
Ann Francois purchased this House in 1993
Why Ann Francois chose Manuel Antonio
This property is located in an elegant compound of seven houses. It will remind you of the Mediterranean with its red roofs and yellow walls. Each home is constructed differently both inside and out, and ours is the most spacious and most comfortable. Plenty of room to stretch out and enjoy! We are well located between beach and town with public transportation, both bus and taxis, readily available. You can also walk into town in 15 minutes passing a beautiful view of the marina. Excellent restaurants are close at hand. Everything you need is found here.
What makes this House unique
Our complex is surrounded by lush gardens and wildlife. You will see monkeys, exotic birds, and much more from our terrace. You will also enjoy the interior of our home. Not only is it spacious and well appointed, but we have made a collection of colorful artworks that grace the walls. A new stove, refrigerator and flat screen TV adds to the enjoyment. We have great Wifi and cable. Bring a FireStick and it will easily connect to our smart TV, but stations are already available in Spanish, English, French, Italian, German and Chinese! Relax and Enjoy!

Love this area/home
We stayed at Casa Tango for 2 lovely weeks. The home is spacious and well kept. The grounds are lovely and manicured. We enjoyed sitting by the pool and were able to see monkeys, iguanas, and birds from this viewpoint. In the house, there were hummingbirds viewed from the terrace. Pia was available and helpful for all our needs.
Our only concern was the terrace furniture was a little uncomfortable...needs a little more padding. Other than that it was a blue ribbon stay! Thank you!
Thank you Anne. So happy you enjoyed your stay! We're here now for five weeks enjoying the comfort and beauty, while, even after 25 years of coming to Costa Rica, still being thrilled by the monkeys, birds (including macaws and toucans), sloths and other animals that we see from our home on a regular basis. We are on a mission to get better padded lounge chair cushions during our stay,, but we've also just bought a new 42" flat screen television. We thank you again for enjoying our paradise as much as we do1
In the jungle
2 bedrooms with AC and some street noise. Sun rises before 6 and animals do to, so bring a eye mask and sound machine. 2 baths with some flushing issues. Maintenance came the 2nd day. Newer frig and range. Also microwave. Nice porch with hammock. Smaller clean pool with fountain & chairs. On street parking. Owner available by email. Recommendations left on kitchen table. Suggest booking 6:50 am tour of MA Nat Park. Playa Biesanz is 1.5 miles away. $10 per shaded chair. $20 for 1.5 hours kayaking to snorkel & paddle boarding.
The guest forgot to mention that when she reported the small leak it was NEW YEAR'S EVE. We tried to get a repair person on New Year's Day but that proved impossible. However, our repair person arrived on Jan 2 and made the repairs with the guest reporting to me that everything was fine. The issues were resolved. Please note that at the beautiful Manuel Antonio public beach you can also rent chairs with umbrellas for $10 for the day...and often less if you book for several days. The guest also told me that her favorite point of the vacation was the colorful macaws that fly over our swimming pool every morning. They can be noisy, but definitely worth it.....The toucans can also be early morning visitors who are heard....but what a sight!!!
Excellent choice for me...
This property is as advertised. Clean, comfortable, and convenient; as well as a good value.
Another plus is that unit is about 500 feet from the main road between Quepos and Manuel Antonio. Taxis and buses were plentiful.
There was a bit of confusion on checkout day. It was not a big deal, but I recommend to the traveler is to contact the property manager the day before checkout to confirm checkout time. (Local calls are free from the unit.)
A couple of comments about Manuel Antonio, i.e. the area immediately around the park itself. US dollars are king. Credit cards charges have 'taxes' attached - anywhere from 15-20%. And if you make an effort to pay in Colones, the exchange rate is horrible - 500-550 to the US dollar. I was able to negotiate one tour, paying by credit card, without the 'tax', because I walked away.
Credit cards, however, were widely accepted in all of the restaurants between Quepos and Manuel Antonio, of which there are many. The owner provided a current list and I cross-referenced the reviews with other travel tools.
Final note regarding the beaches. Beaches around Manuel Antonio are a bit confusing. The beaches within the park do not have services except disgusting restrooms. Playa Espadilla, aka Playa Espadilla Norte, is the public beach outside of the park. A very nice beach with services, activities, etc.
Thank you Steve!
Very comfortable home and safe!
Great communication with the owner!
Thank you Penny. Our pleasure.
All the best,
Good location...house needs some work
This house (actually part of a complex of units in 5 buildings, each containing 2 or 3 separate rental units) is well located just off the main road leading to MANP, and close to many restaurants and shops. The property itself is well cared for, although the pool water wasn't completely clear, and the only patio table had just 3 chairs around it. The unit itself is a good size for 4 people, but needs a lot of work. There are ceiling fans in most rooms (although the one in the kitchen wobbles a lot and is therefore very noisy) which helps because there are AC units only in the two bedrooms. The only TV is from the 80's and very small, and there is no way to play music from a phone or other device. Window blinds are broken and bent, some towels are stained and frayed, the range is very small, the plates and glasses are a mixed batch of old items accumulated over many years...so nothing terrible, just a tired property needing upgrades and improvements. The key system (4 keys needed to enter/exit each time) and the parking (very tight or nonexistent) were annoying aswell. One other thing...we had another person join us last minute. They charged us a fair bit extra per night for him, and he had to sleep on the wooden couch in the living room (not a sofa bed). The next property we rented, which was much nicer and much bigger, charged him only a fraction of that amount per night, and for that he got his own room and full bathroom. I guess you don't always get what you pay for.
Actually, there are seven small homes on our property, each with a maximum of only two units. Our beautiful pool, surrounded by lush gardens, has green tiles. People can mistake the color green of the tiles for the water being unclear, but the pool is very well maintained and always clean. It blends with the environment. This client informed me a day before his arrival that he would have an additional person join him. This was not ample time to provide bedding, other than the couch. We charged $25/night for the additional person which does not seem to be excessive. The television is small, but it includes cable with many channels...Spanish,English, French, German. Our listing does cite that there is air conditioning in the bedrooms only, but with every room, including the large terrace having overhead fans. I am sorry that some of the towels displayed seem to have been not up to par, but many other towels were available, which were located under each bathroom cabinet. The guest contacted me regarding the towels and once he found the other towels...told me everything was satisfactory. We provide a complete array of dining ware, utensils, and all the essentials to enjoy cooking at home in our very spacious villa. Usually, our guests come equipped with their own technology for music. We try to our best to please everyone, but it's not always possible.
WE HAVE TAKEN THESE COMMENTS SERIOUSLY. CASA TANGO HAS JUST BEEN UPDATED. There is a new stove, new curtains in both bedrooms with the blinds removed, ceiling fans working perfectly, new furniture in bedrooms, new glassware and plate ware and four chairs at the pool table. As for the extra "bed" in the living room, this is perfectly comfortable and slept my 29 year old niece comfortably. The "wood" structure is extremely sturdy and provides a good bed. Towels are all in good condition. We are always upgrading and improving!
We loved it here!!!!!
Our family stayed here for 5 days in August and it was an incredible experience. Pia was very welcoming and Made us feel at home as soon as we arrived.
The grounds are gorgeous and waking up to the monkeys was such a great way to rise in the a.m
The house is very well equipped with everything you need and spacious. It was very clean.
Air con in both bedrooms was a nice touch.
We spent many hours just hanging out on the beautiful balcony with with the sounds of the rainforest around us.
I would have given this 5 stars, but although very nice, the pool could use some maintenance.
You can get around without a car but there would be some serious walking or bus riding. We had a car which was nice, but you can totally do it without.
We are so happy that this guest enjoyed their stay in our Villa, but are disappointed that they felt the pool area was lacking. This is so surprising as usually, it is a highlight of our guests' vacation, with new lounge chairs, wifi connection, showers and umbrellas, it's the perfect spot to relax and enjoy nature. Many animals will be spotted including sloths, macaws, monkeys and iquanas. The color of the pool tile is green, which casts a green hue on the water. Some people mistake this for something amiss with the water. I can assure that is not the case. Our pool is regularly attended by a pool maintenance person and everything is done to keep the pool clean and inviting. Whether taking an early morning swim, hanging out with our neighbors or taking a dip after the beach...we are always grateful for our pool, surrounded by lush gardens and jungle.
Manuel Antonio beaches are perhaps the most beautiful in the world. The wide and unpopulated beach and sea is a paradise of palm trees, monkeys, whales, dolphins and fish of all kinds. Spectacular views and casual fine dining are a way of life. Manuel Antonio National Park is a country treasure. Activities include animal watching to butterfly farms, jet skiing to sail boating, horseback riding to canopy trails, deep sea fishing to white water rafting. The quaint town of Quepos hosts a farmers' market and a new boat marina all. Everything conveniently located to this villa.
Other Activities: Canopy trails, rain forests, butterfly farm, bird watching, whale & dolphin watching.
