Overview

About the property

House, 3 Bedrooms + Den, 2 Baths, (Sleeps 8)

If you are looking for a place that allows you to get close to nature while being close to the action - you have found it! Escape and enjoy the many diverse activities the mountains can offer and come home to a peaceful and spacious setting where your family can relax and renew at the end of your exciting day.

This quiet and cozy home is tucked back in the trees at the base of Mount Bross, one of Colorado's famous 14’ers. Located on the outskirts of fun and funky Alma, our home allows easy access to all the area's fun. Park County has a wealth of hiking, biking, shopping and more while Breckenridge and all Summit County has to offer is just a few minutes away. Although the setting is secluded, the house is just one mile off the highway (no long off-road drives!) situated on 10 private acres.

Our mountainside charmer is a comfortable, warm and tastefully decorated spacious three bedroom, two bathroom home that you will want to call your home away from home! A large fully equipped country kitchen and dining area will allow for family meals if you decide to eat in. The comfortable living room with a stone fireplace offers a quiet place to reflect on the day's activities. In addition, a cozy family room with a gas fireplace and entertainment center gives a place for the family to gather.

There are two downstairs bedrooms. The “bears den” bunk room sleeps four in double bunks while a second bedroom with queen bed sleeps two. The dramatic master bedroom provides a rustic get-away. Large windows bring the wildlife into view as moose, deer and the resident fox make their way across the property. A large deck overlooks the scenic valley and the Continental Divide, a great place to enjoy the peacefulness at any time of day.

The house is set on 10 acres backing up to miles of undeveloped land. In the summer we highly recommend scenic hiking into the high country where you can explore the mining era that made this area famous, the amazing wild flower meadows and the pristine peaks of Central Colorado. In the winter, enjoy alpine skiing, cross country skiing, snowshoeing, snowmobiling and more. Breckenridge is just 16 miles away and three other mountains are within easy reach!

Wonderful Secluded Cabin- Great for Families!

  • 5 of 5

We stayed in this cabin from August 30-Sept 3rd. We had 4 adults and 2 kids (ages 4 and 2) stay in this cabin. We loved the secluded location and how family oriented the cabin was. The cabin was well equipped for anything you could possibly need. We cooked breakfast/dinner in the well-equipped kitchen each day. The hot tub was amazing and the views were great, the Aspens were just starting to turn during our stay!

We loved the location of the cabin. Breckenridge was only a 30/40 min drive (no road conditions during our stay). We went to Breck/Frisco/Dillon areas then also drove a loop from Alma/Buena Vista/Twin Lakes/Leadville/Cooper/Breck and back which was beautiful!

We did reach out to the owner while we were there with a question and he responded almost immediately, even over the holiday weekend.

The only "issue" we encountered was that some of the boards on the front/side deck are raised or popping up. It made it tough for my 2 year old to walk/run on the deck, he had a few tumbles/trips, but learned to take it easy by the time we left. We moved the picnic table/chairs around to cover some of the spots. My 4 year old and the adults had no issues. Hate to even bring it up since for most it is a non-issue, but that would be my one and only suggestion!

This place is truly amazing and we would love to return!

Comfy and peaceful

  • 5 of 5

Had so much fun at this home doing a whole lotta nothing. The weather was perfect for these heat-stroked Texans. The home/hot tub was very clean and all the beds(and even the couches) were comfy. The owners have thought of everything from veggie peeler to s'mores sticks .This home is just off the main road (<5 min to alma,<15 to FairPlay,<30 to breck) and there other homes around but you can't see or hear them. The younguns had such fun building tepees in the "backyard" and we had a bear sighting in said teepee . (hint: roll up your car windows all the way 😉?) The gas grill performed beautifully (and our chefs) and the fireplace was s'mores central due to the burn ban. The grandson caught his first fish at Montgomery reservoir. (Fishing licenses at alpine sports or prathers in FairPlay) . Tried kite lake but the day was way to cold/rainy to stay -alpine tundra. We had big shoppers with us so the only hikes were downtown breck😁? But lotsa fun had with rock band on the big screen n board games around the table. Biggest complaint -too short.

Beautiful & secluded!

  • 5 of 5

This was our first time booking through VRBO, and it was a great experience. This cabin was quiet and peaceful with gorgeous views and plenty of room. It felt like home on the first day. It is secluded, but close enough to everything we wanted to do. We really enjoyed the private hot tub and the hummingbirds on the front porch! Everything we needed was available to us. Thank you for providing your gorgeous home for others to enjoy! It was perfect and just what we needed!

Cozy, comfortable, secluded and quaint. Just a few of the wonderful qualities of this property.

  • 5 of 5

My family of four: two adults and two tweens, enjoyed this home very much. We stayed for six nights. The home is so comfortable, you can really tell the owners love this home and the area surrounding it. It was nice to have two living spaces and plenty of room to spread out. The kitchen was very well stocked; there was an electric griddle, crockpot, all the usual needs such as a toaster, coffee maker, blender, utensils, etc. The cabinets are also full of spices, coffee filters, sugar, pancake syrup, even vanilla extract. There are condiments in the refrigerator that previous guests have left behind in case you forgot to bring your own. Towels and bedding are good quality. Hot tub was large and very clean. The location in Alma was very centralized. We enjoyed activities from Buena Vista to Colorado Springs to Breckenridge and was never more than an hour and a half from it all. We will keep this property marked on our favorites list for future rentals.
