The kitchen is fully equipped. We have a gas grill, and a washer and drier. We have good well water, so you do not need to bring your own drinking water. We ask that no glass be used on the dock. We have unbreakable beverage glasses for the dock and boats. Absolutely no smoking inside the house. If you choose to smoke outside it is crucial that an ash can is used and all cigarettes are completely extinguished and contained. We have a shared fire pump but we hope never to have to use it.

Family loved this!

  • 5 of 5

My adult siblings and parents stayed at this home near Clayton several years ago (2011, if my memory serves me correctly, but VRBO wouldn't allow me to use that date). It's an easy boat ride from Clayton and nearly right across the channel from a boat ramp where my husband and I stored our jet skis' trailer for a small fee.

We have been camping in the Thousand Islands for several decades and wanted to class it up after so long tenting. The view of the channel can't be beat, and there's plenty of dock space for boats, jet skis, etc. and still enough room to swim off the dock.

It was great to be able to warm up by the fire in the evenings. The kitchen was well-stocked with enough pots/utensils for some gourmet cooking each day. The proprietors were wonderful, as well!

The island is nice and quiet. My brother, father, and I went for a swim around the island, which was peaceful.

Probably the BEST part of the house, though, is the fact that it's on an unsung pike fishing spot. We're all fishers, and the dwindling fishing over the past 15 years has gotten us down quite a bit. We searched high and low-- headed up to Boldt Castle, tried Mary's Island, etc.-- and ended up finding that the best place to catch some decent-sized northerns was right out the front of the house, out about 100 yards and drifting down with the current. Excellent!

Maple Island is in the heart of the 1000 Islands about 2 miles from the Canadian border. The island is only accessible by boat, so you will want to bring yours, or rent from one of the local marinas in the immediate area.

This property is situated between Clayton and Alexandria Bay, near Thousand Island Park on Wellesley Island. It faces the NY state mainland and St. Lawrence Seaway. Wonderful views, sunrises and moonrises.
