About the property

Cabin, 2 Bedrooms + Convertible bed(s), 2 Baths, (Sleeps 2-4)

Our beautiful warm little cabin is the perfect place to experience the charm of Shelter Cove.

We are 300 feet above the ocean and it is about a mile walk down the winding streets to the ocean edge. The private back deck overlooks the forest and out across the ocean. Birds fly and scamper and sing all around. The sound of the barking seals can be heard.

There is a Jacuzzi tub. A romantic loft bedroom with a warm cozy bed. A soft comfy couch. A country kitchen. You will not find TV or a computer. Bring a book. Play with a puzzle. Take a walk.

Sleep. Watch the sun set. Breathe the fresh sparkling air. Listen to the birds sing.

Hidden within the Lost Coast is Shelter Cove

At the center of northern California’s Lost Coast, this quiet fishing community is snuggled safely within the steep rugged coastline. Land access is a narrow road that twists up and down thru the fir and redwood forests of the King Range Conservation Area.

The road ends at the small village overlooking the vast sea and sky.

In the mountains overlooking the village is a maze of rural streets. Vacation, retirement and permanent homes look out to spectacular views of the ocean, sunsets and coastlines. Deer and other wildlife are plentiful.

This is a glorious place to...

...relax and unwind.

...get away.

...spend quality time with the one you love.

...take time to think and reflect. your harmony and rhythm.

find yourself again.

About The Owner

We are a married couple with grown children. We live in Oregon.

The Owner purchased this cabin in 2003

Why The Owner chose North Coast

We choose Shelter Cove to build our log cabin because the area is beautiful, quiet and remote. It has some of the best ocean fishing available on the California Coast. The walks on the beach are refreshing and energizing.

What makes this cabin unique

Relaxation. Quiet time. Hiking or strolling. Fishing. Rejuvenation.

Great Adventure

  • 5 of 5

We had a great time, cabin was in perfectly clean condition, neighbor was really friendly and playing bootleg reggae all afternoon while he cleaned his daughter danced and played in the front yard for an hour while we unpacked and organized our things. The house is open and spacious, fully stocked with pots ans pans. We have a very comfortable stay. Thanks so much!

Shelter cove was rugged and beautiful, worth the trip over the hill. Kings range 4x4 adventure and hiking was awesome. Blacksand beach and the rest of the cove outstanding.

Beautiful, comfortable cabin.

  • 5 of 5

The cabin was a very cozy, inviting, clean cabin, exactly as advertised. We thoroughly enjoyed the stay. The road in was fine; no problems. We would definitely rent there again. The only thing renters need to know is that there is NO AT&T service; you'll have to drive to Redway for service.

Beautiful and clean Cabin

  • 5 of 5

The road leading to this place is a little tricky but worth it! This cabin is beautiful with windows everywhere, even windows high enough for the perfect view from the loft. We loved the deck which we were able to see views of the ocean and at times we were able to see deer walking around. Make sure to see both the lighthouse and black sands beach. Also worth to drive the 1 hour to see the giant Redwoods.Very clean place, comfortable beds, and I would definitely stay here again! The owner is very good about responding quickly as well!

wonderful Thanksgiving Stay

  • 5 of 5

Thanksgiving 2015. Wonderful vacation, really lucky with beautiful weather. Cabin was very comfortable and welcoming. Kitchen could use an additional small pot or two, but otherwise had everything we needed for Thanksgiving dinner. Road down very curvy, but worth the drive. General store was amazingly well stocked, plan to arrive during daylight, steps from street down to cabin are challenging. Owner very responsive to all questions.

We stayed for a week in April (just getting around to writing a review now) and we could not have asked for more. The cabin is beautiful and everything is in top shape. We were able to bring our big dumb dog which made everything perfect (he loved it too). We had zero issues while staying here. We have been talking about making another trip to Shelter Cove and staying in the same cabin. Awesome through and through.

My one tip is to be sure to arrive during the day. The mountain roads can be a little hairy at night.

Beautiful location in remote Shelter Cove

  • 5 of 5

We were able to meet our son/daughter inlaw here for an early spring vacation. Very nice, comfortable cabin on a hill, with great view of the ocean, sunsets and the stars. Kitchen easy to cook in with views, and dining area. We enjoyed walking to Shelter Cove on the coast - with low and high tides, sea lions and seagulls, and occasional sprays of migrating whales. A nearby black sand beach is spectacular, and the King Range area is good for hiking. The owners provided good information, on the area, including nearby Redwoods. This is a very nice location for retreating away from the busyness of everyday life.
