Solar Powered Authentic Log Cabin on Quiet Lake with 120 Acres Private Forest

Bedrooms 1
Property type cabin
Minimum Stay 2 - 6 nights

About the property

Cabin, 1 Bedroom + Loft, 1 Bath, (Sleeps 4-6)

Our solar powered log cabin is located on 90 acre Lehto Lake. We own 120 wooded acres surrounded by another 700 acres of state land. Most of Lehto Lake's shoreline is undeveloped because it is owned by a nature conservancy. There is no public access to the lake and no other properties visible from our cabin. You most likely will not see another person during your stay so you are guaranteed privacy and quiet. This is a place to relax.

We are 45 minutes from the busy tourist attractions of Minocqua, and 1 hr. from the quiet beauty of Lake Superior. You can fish or hunt all day, walk or snowshoe the old logging trails, kayak or canoe around the island and through cattails in the adjoining marsh, pick wild berries, or just sit around the large fire pit and enjoy amazing sunsets. Several other lakes and the Flambeau Flowage are nearby, providing excellent additional fishing opportunities. Bike, ATV and snowmobile trails are accessible from our property. Two kayaks, a canoe, and a 14 ft. aluminum boat with a trolling motor are available for your use. We are also near some of the best cross country and downhill skiing in the midwest!

Our cabin is built from hand-scribed logs taken from our property (not an imitation log kit!) As a custom cabinet maker, I have put fine details in the cabin - granite and Corian countertops, hardwood floors, ceramic tile floors and shower, etc. The 'master bedroom' is located in the loft which contains a double bed, recliner sofa, love seat, and TV. A bedroom in the lower level has 2 twin beds. A sleeper sofa on the main level provides additional sleeping. Because we love to cook the kitchen is extremely functional and fully stocked, but our favorite place to cook is outside over an open fire. The lower level rec room contains a ping pong table for evening or rainy day fun.

In addition to solar power we have a back-up generator which automatically turns on and off if additional power is needed. The main source of heat is a wood stove for which we provide plenty of split wood and kindling inside the cabin. There is also a furnace in the lower level which supplements the wood stove. You will never run out of electricity of be cold.

If you check out the Google Map it will show the cabin location further from the lake than it is. Google does not recognize our address so it places the cabin too far north on Randall Lake Rd. Also, the driveway is 1 mile long so even at the proper location it looks like the cabin is not near the lake, but it definitely is. I've located the cabin with a point of interest.

In case you have small children, the railings in the loft and on the staircases now have spindles (some of the pictures were taken before they were installed) so you don't have to worry about safety.

About The Owner

Our family lives in Lac du Flambeau, WI (40 minutes from the rental cabin) where I am self-employed as a custom cabinet maker.

The Owner purchased this cabin in 2003

Why The Owner chose Park Falls

We didn't build this as a rental property, but as a second home. Because our business is located at our home, we need a place to get away from work. This property is the perfect location - quiet and relaxing. When our daughter was in college we began renting it out and it allowed her to graduate debt free. Because of the large clientele we built up who wanted to return we have continued to share our quiet get-away with others.

What makes this cabin unique

The peacefulness! On most of our visits we never hear another human, just the wildlife.

Our Family's Special Place

  • 5 of 5

This is our 3rd stay at this beautiful cabin. We were actually the very first renters when Ann and Jerry began renting in 2009. We were newlyweds then. This June we returned with our 2 children. They loved it - fishing off the pier, kayaking, campfires every night. Last weekend I brought my parents up to the cabin. They thoroughly enjoyed the quiet beauty. We planned to venture up to Lake Superior, but ended up never leaving the cabin because it was so beautiful and relaxing. I'm sure we'll be back many more times.

Beautiful, peaceful Northwoods property

  • 5 of 5

This is a wonderful cabin in the Northwoods!

My husband, our 1 year old daughter, our 2 dogs and I stayed here for a week in September over our 5 year anniversary. This was our first time in the area. The cabin was everything we were looking for: it was private, off the grid, well maintained, beautiful, nestled in the woods with plenty of wildlife but a short drive to town.

Unfortunately it was warmer than expected for mid-late September which meant the mosquitoes were out in abundance but they could not ruin our vacation! We may not have been able to enjoy the fire pit as much as we had hoped but we did take many walks and bike rides and drove to Manitowish Waters, Mercer, Boulder Junction and Minocqua to check out the bike trails, coffee shops and restaurants. It was wonderful to be able to spend a week without television and internet and completely remove ourselves from 'real life' for a few days.

The cabin itself was beautiful and very well maintained. We rent houses/cabins 1-2 times a year and this was one of the better ones we've stayed in. It was clear that Ann and Jerry take pride in their property and work to make sure it lives up to expectations. We never leave our fur babies home so it was an added bonus to be able to bring them with.

We would highly recommend this cabin to anyone looking for a rental in the area!

Jerry & Ann,

Thank you for sharing your wonderful cabin with us! We loved the peaceful time in nature and a break from busyness of life. We enjoyed fishing, kayaking around the lake, sightseeing in nearby towns, and hiking along the waterfalls. We loved our time around the cabin too, reading near the fireplace and taking naps. It was a much-needed vacation!

Relaxing Quiet Northwoods Home

  • 5 of 5

As someone who has traveled all over the world, for once I wanted to give my daughter a true north woods vacation. This amazing home is on a private lake with no public access. Being that it is surrounded by 120 acres of private property along with State land around that, you do not hear the normal every day noises of traffic or people. This is true feel of being out in the wilderness.

The lake has fantastic fishing due to very little fishing pressure. May daughter and I landed many northern pike and panfish during our stay. The cabin has a boat with a trolling motor for those who want to maneuver around quickly. For those who want to enjoy the scenery and have a morning paddle there are canoes and kayaks available.

The home is very cozy and the kitchen was excellent to cook in. The first night my daughter and I caught plenty of fish prior to coming back, cooking dinner and listening the Packer preseason game on the radio. For those of you that need to stay connected with wifi or satellite TV, this is not the place. I was able to send a few text messages, but for the most part I enjoyed the fact that we were not connected to the everyday electronic distractions we now face. I also felt it was a good change to have my daughter focus on playing a board game with me rather than watching YouTube.

Some other relaxing activities include sitting by the outdoor fire in the evening or even in the morning with a nice hot cup of coffee. The Loons offer the true sounds of the Northwoods while relaxing to a sunrise or sunset. I do recommend a thermocel and mosquito repellant as they can be vicious in the early morning and late evening.

As far as venturing off the property, I'd highly recommend taking a day to see Minocqua or even spend an afternoon golfing at one of the many courses. With many different lakes and public land in the area there are plenty of hiking and boating opportunities. My favorite town to visit was Boulder Junction as they had very nice shops and nice restaurants.

Finally, the owners of this location were very easy to work with and very accommodating to me. I had some last minute requests of additional guests along with dogs and they were very accepting. I should also note to the dog owner that your four legged friend will love you for bringing them on up as it is a true vacation for them as well.

If you are looking for a spot to disconnect, I'd highly recommend this location.

Loved Being Surrounded by Nature and Quiet

  • 5 of 5

We are 4 girls in our 20s who wanted a get away from the city. This was the perfect place. We spent hours snowshoeing and skiing around the lake. We brought a dog along who was in heaven. We even went for a walk at midnight! The cabin was warm and cozy, very clean and had everything we wanted. We'd definitely recommend this for anyone looking to enjoy some quiet time away.
