Bob and Pam are retired baby boomers from West Virginia who wanted a bit of the mountain memories to be close at hand. We built our mountain cabin to 'return to our roots' and loved it so much we built our retirement home in the nearby mountain town of Jasper. We are close by for any emergencies, or for personal tips and recommendations. We are empty nesters, and with our only grandchild on the west coast, we have had to satisfy ourselves with lovin' our 2 papillons, Higgins and Moby (a rescue). They are much better looking than we are, so we have posted their picture here!
We have furnished and decorated our cabin as if it were our full time home. We know you will love it as much as we do. Come see!
Pam purchased this cabin in 2005
We love bird watching from the front porch, feeding the deer, and grilling to the beautiful sunsets. Quiet times on the back porch with our favorite beverage, the mountain views and and a dog in our lap is almost as great as sharing our mountain cabin with friends and family.
We have stayed at My Back Porch for three visits in the month of January. Our weather varied from ice on the steps to sunny weather, 70 degrees, with windows open and lots of back porch sitting. We have enjoyed each visit equally. The cabin is cozy, charming, comfortable, and complete!
Spent a week with our 4 kids and was a fun getaway! Especially for not having a vacation in a very long time! The cabin is spacious and we could all fit together by the fireplace or all be separate on the 3 different floors. We had a fire every night and played boardgames. It was cold towards the end of our week, and their is a sufficient supply of blankets and comfy pillows. We food shopped twice and the Kitchen had all the necessary essentials and that helped a lot! The hot tub was enjoyed nightly whether it rained, snowed or was freezing out. It snowed on New Years Eve so the kids saw snow for the first time! We only saw one deer, so hoping to see more next time. The neighbor has a rooster so you will enjoy hearing it in the morning, lol. The top floor, master bathroom's toilet broke two days before leaving, so it was very cold running up and downstairs the last two days. Pam replied immediately, but no one to fix due to Holiday. Be careful on the dirt/gravel road travelling to Cabin, have a good vehicle, very narrow, potholes and the previous people before us ran off the road. Couple neighbors drive it fast, so be cautious. We luved the neighbors behind the home with all their wonderful fireworks. Enjoyed meeting Charlie too. Close to many Activities. Go to the Local Chamber they will give you updated info on events in the area. We went to downtown BlueRidge, Blairsville, Ellijay and a few of the parks. Lots of waterfalls and hiking. We plan to visit the Blue Ridge Area again and Explore more.
We had a great time at My Back Porch. Everything you needed it was there !! We will be back in the Spring with more friends and family to share the beautiful mountains with a cup of coffee and hot chocolate. Thanks so much for sharing your beautiful home it was soo.... relaxing !!!
We had a wonderful time at My Back Porch. Will be going back next year, has everything you every need. Yvonne said Pam was great to work with and my daughter loved feeding the corn to the deers. And the candle from the Tyler candle company fill the whole cabin, wish I had looked on bottom for the name of scent. Thank you so much for sharing with us your beautiful cabin. Only bad part was having to leave, I kept saying let's stay one more nite.
We spent the month of July in this wonderful cabin, and it quickly felt like home. It's setting in the woods within a gated community between Blue Ridge and Blairsville can't be beat. Everything we wanted or needed we found in the fully equipped kitchen. It's not often you can go away and find a bed you like as well as your own, but we found that at My Back Porch. I spent every morning with my coffee and a book on the screened back deck, loving every minute of cool I found there. Our dogs were equally at home there, all of us thankful for the respite from the summer heat of SWFL. Pam and Bob responded quickly to any questions or concerns we had. The cabin decor is particularly pleasing, and everywhere you look there are decorative items that make you realize you truly are in the mountains. Unfortunately for us, July was just too hot to use the hot tub, although we probably should have used it anyway after horseback riding and ziplining! There is plenty to do if you just want to relax at the cabin, books, movies, games, etc. All in all, a great place to get away for however long you are lucky enough to be there. Thank you again, Pam and Bob. We loved it.
This cabin was everything described and more. We have stayed at several cabins over the past 38 yrs throughout Great Smoky Mtns. and Blue Ridge. This by far was the best ever! Very accommodating, not to mention the beautiful decor throughout the cabin. The screened in porch was our favorite place to relax, made it great for our little fur baby, too. We definitely will be back to My Back Porch. Pam was wonderful to work with!
