My husband and I spent a week with our two dogs in this lovely spot as it was located within a short drive of our son's family. We were looking for a vacation type rental since we live a two day drive away and don't get to see them often. We have rented lake front homes across many states in the NE and rate this the best one ever. The home itself is rustic but modern with comfortable furnishings. What was surprising for us was how well equipped it came not only with good quality cookware, table wear, and dish and laundry supplies but also with all paper products needed like paper towels, tissues, toilet paper and dinner napkins, and trash can liners which are things you don't usually get with a rental. Linens and towels were provided and were very nice. We felt like the house was supplied with the user in mind; good reading lights, AC and heat when needed, wi fi, satellite TV, and then as a bonus a huge supply of games, puzzles and books. Literally you only needed to bring your food items (and as a recommendation) your favorite sharp knife if you like to cook.
The setting was absolutely gorgeous with a huge open yard area with places set up for horseshoes, badminton, tether ball and ping pong. All supplies were in the common cottage and included the addition of wiffle ball, bocce ball, life preservers and maps of local attractions. The beach was sandy with shallow walk out for little children but also available was a floating dock and floats. Five boats added to the water fun with canoe, kayaks, row boat and sailboat. No matter the weather, you would find it hard to be bored here.
The location is a little remote, but still within 20-30 minutes of good restaurants, grocery stores and golf. The road behind the property is wonderful for jogging, there is a great hike up Mt Cube (part of Appalachian trail) less than a mile away, and road surfaces are hilly but good for cyclists.
We had fun, our dogs loved the freedom to run and play, the manager was helpful and available to answer questions and meet any needs we had, and our son's family felt like they had a little vacation by staying with us for a few days. We will return next year for sure!
Thank you. It is a great pleasure to host families that appreciate our beautiful lakefront setting!
Great property for a family with kids (and a dog)
We had rented the house for a week in June 2016 at the house and had an amazing week. The house is not very large but it was very clean and there is enough space for a family and the outdoor activities are great: there are various kayaks, a canoe, sailing boat, the dock is great for fishing and the house is very close to the beach which is easily accessible. The water temperature was quite pleasant. There is a lot of space around the house and our dog had a dream vacation as well. The owner was also really friendly and helpful. Finally, there is a lot to do in the area, so we would certainly recommend this house if you want to spend a week in NH.
Thank you. We are delighted to host families and couples who appreciated the many lake activities
and spacious , private grounds.
Perfect Vacation Spot!
Upon arrival we were greeted by Buddy's adorable niece and were joined shortly after by Buddy and his other niece. While Buddy showed us around the property the two girls helped hold our dogs' leashes as well as bring our stuff down from the parking lot to the cabin. The cabin is in impeccable condition and everything you could need is provided. There are plenty of kitchen items and appliances as well as extra blankets, pillows, etc. There are also dozens of board games and movies to enjoy on a rainy day (which we had none of!). My family's favorite activity was the boating, there are 2 single kayaks, a canoe and a rowboat available for use. We even had our two lab mixes out on the water with us! We also thoroughly enjoyed the badminton and ping pong table. Buddy was frequently around working on the property and was available if we had any questions. The property is secluded and has a huge grassy area, great for frisbee! The 'pond' itself is quite large as well, so don't be discouraged by the term. Overall my family LOVED staying at this property, especially the dogs, and we all highly recommend it! We stayed for 5 nights and only left the property once or twice. We would love to return next year as well! Thank you, Buddy!
Thank you! It was a pleasure having your family as guests and to see you enjoying the lake, spacious grounds, cottage, sports and games.
Very satisfied, longtime renters
We have been vacationing at Sunset Ranch Camp since 2010 and we couldn't be happier. Every year has been a fulfilling and satisfying vacation for our family of 2 adults, 3 children, 1 dog and this year, my mother joined us. Sunset Ranch Camp has everything for a fun and relaxing vacation. Our kids have thoroughly enjoyed swimming in the lake, jumping off the raft, fishing off the dock, kayaking, making S'mores, playing ping pong, tether ball, horseshoes, badminton, croquet, bocce ball and spending hours of fun playing with the games located in Smith Hall (puzzles, cards, board games and movies). Colby Cottage is always thoughtfully stocked with all the necessary amenities a family would need to cook and be comfortable for a week's stay. Buddy has thought of everything (even salt, pepper and cooking oil!) Every year my children look forward to coming to Sunset Ranch and as a mom, I LOVE the memories that these vacations are providing for our little ones. We can't thank you enough Buddy for being a wonderful host and allowing us to vacation on your pristine property overlooking a gorgeous lake (with loons!) and breath taking mountains. We will be back next summer and God willing, many more to follow! :)
Thank you. We provide a clean, well provisioned and comfortable lake cottage to complement the spacious grounds, sandy beach and swim area and beautiful lakefront scenery! Ideal for families and couples!
Great Memories Made Here...
This was exactly what our family needed! The house was impeccably clean. Our dogs were welcomed. The views of the lake are ever changing with beautiful sunrises and sunsets on the property.
We had the best time fishing off the dock and of course swimming with a great little beach area.
Buddy the host is absolutely wonderful. Love the history behind the property.
This is the place where great memories will be made for you and your family, cannot wait to go back!
Thank you. We love having guest families that enjoy the waterfront, lake, spacious
grounds and beautiful scenery!
