Perfect in Salem!

  • 5 of 5

Friends and family joined us as we celebrated the graduation of our son from Endicott College. The hose provided the perfect location for our large group to assemble. The house provided ample sleeping spaces, gathering locations and all the amenities. The historic nature of the home was icing on an already perfect weekend. Couldn't have asked for a better stay.

Great family vacation home

  • 5 of 5

My family of 14 stayed in this home and we had a wonderful time! This home had plenty of space for everyone to sleep and everyone had a bed! The bedrooms were all fairly large and there was plenty of space to relax and hang out. There were 2 living room spaces to relax and unwind in the evening. A spacious dining room area with a wood burning stove(that we did actually did use to warm up a bit one morning) and plenty of seating. There were 3 showers and 4 toilets, which actually worked out just fine for everyone and the water pressure and hot water was just fine! The kitchen was fully equipped with all your cooking needs with a regular coffee pot and a kuerig. The home is older, but definitely has all the updates and updated, nice furniture. It was very clean. There was also seating in the back yard, with chairs and a picnic table along with a gas grill. The home's location was close to the downtown area in Salem(a couple blocks and a walk through the park). There was a great Pizza place just a couple blocks away called Amazing Pizza....delicious and friendly owner! The commuter train was in walking distance to the house, maybe 10 minutes and we used that for 2 days to get to Boston and back. We took the train($7pp to the north station in Boston) and then had to switch trains depending on what part of town we wanted to go to. We did take an uber to the USS Constitution once and the one way trip was $77! The train was much easier and convenient. You would not necessarily need a car depending on where you wanted to go. However, we did have one car for our group and did use it to run to the grocery store, which is probably not as walkable(except CVS and other shops). We also took an uber from the airport and the cost was about $35/45 vs $65 for a cab(we had one of each) and the ride from the house to the airport is about 45minutes. Cole, the owner, was delightful to work with and replied to emails within a couple hours to a day. We would definitely consider returning to this home if we vacationed in this area again!

Historic home in a great location.

  • 2 of 5

Six of us, all adults, stayed in this home for 10 days in Sept. It is well located - easy access into Boston, good restaurants and fun atmosphere in Salem. The home offers lots of room and privacy for all. However, it didn't meet expectations for cleanliness or give us a welcoming feeling upon our arrival. We had to call the property manager a number of times to take care of routine maintenance items. It was disappointing based on the cost of this property, We wanted a historic home with character and we got that but overall, we would not stay there again.

Owner's Response: I feel this guest is being a bit dramatic, the house was clean and as advertised, it would seem she worked very hard to not enjoy her stay. Complaining of AC not being cold enough and the Fireplace not having wood for a fire. We did everything we could to complete her demands and since upgraded some problem areas including replacing the Lobster Statue that she felt was old and worn out. We remind all potential guests that this a 200 year old home, home being key word, it is not a hotel. We work diligently to keep the home in good repair and clean at a very reasonable price.

Family trip

  • 5 of 5

We had the most wonderful experience and renting this home for our family vacation was perfect! The house itself is beautiful and was nice and clean. The rooms were perfect for our large group. The kitchen was well stocked and had all the utensils we needed. Perfect location.. I ran at the park every morning and along the shore. We plan to do it again soon!

We rented out this house as a pre-wedding get together with our bridal party the weekend before our wedding. It was absolutely amazing. The house itself is gorgeous and very spacious. It has a lot of character and every room is unique. The house was very clean and the property manager was very helpful. It also had everything we needed. The location was wonderful because it was a very short walk right into down town Salem! We had such fun with our friends and with all the Salem attractions in October. Overall, I would recommend this house to anyone wanting to have a fun getaway with a nice homey feel. We will definitely be renting it next year!
