This is a unique vacation home located within feet of Snowbird Creek. Fishing access is literally out the back door. However, the creek runs with its soothing sounds whether you fish or not. The rear covered deck can offer hours of relaxation.
There is an open wood burning fireplace for those cool Fall and Winter nights. The house has central heat and air conditioning and all rooms have ceiling fans. Modern conveniences are here with none of the urban intrusions. The house is complete with WiFi, Dish Network and Netflix. The master bedroom has a king-size bed while there is a queen in the other. While being secluded, there is a paved road leading to the circular drive with an attached carport.
This is truly an area for the enjoyment of nature. Joyce Kilmer-Slickrock Wilderness Area boasts of over 60 miles of hiking trails within 14,000 acres. Trout fishing is some of the best in the state with numerous cold water streams near by. Lake Santeetlah, within five miles, has bass, walleye, and other species within its 2800 acres and offers the boater an outlet too.
The owners welcome the many bikers who vacation in our area. For a description of the many biking experiences visit Ride the 'Dragon' @ Deals Gap. We have a covered garage to protect your equipment.
The Cherohala Skyway is a limited access highway extending 43 miles between Robbinsville and Tellico, Tennessee and follows the ridge-tops for breathtaking, undisturbed scenery.
If none of this appeals to you, then you can just kick back, relax and enjoy your surroundings. We won't bother you. We're proud of our corner of the state and encourage you to come take a look to see what you've been missing.
Tommy and I have been married for 35 years and love to come to Snowbird. We live in Sylva, NC. Tommy is retired and I am an insurance agent. We are also church choir directors. We have one son, who loves to fly fish at Snowbird. Another son and daughter-in-law lives in ABQ, NM. We have one grandson, Mason
The Owner purchased this house in 1998
We love the Snowbird area. I am from Robbinsville and love the small town feel. I just knew other people would love this area too. It is so quiet and peaceful and at the same time, one can be busy with area attractions too.
I enjoy just having 'deck time' and reading while enjoying the creek. I also enjoy hiking and walking in this beautiful area.
We really loved our time at this cabin! The grandkids ran straight for the creek as soon as they discovered it. We traveled by motorcycle, and our daughter came with her van and the 2 grandkids (10 & 14). The road was easily accessible by motorcycle and car. We really appreciated the covered parking space for our bike.
We took many day trips in the van, and my husband took the grandkids and daughter on a ride at the Tail of the Dragon (Hwy. 129). Once we were familiar with getting to the cabin, everything was easy to find. Lots of curves and hills! A biker's dream ride. Took a trip to Great Smoky Mountains National Park, and saw a bear run across the rode at Cade's Cove, also several deer. Took at trip on Hwy. 219 South, then 74 to Wayah Road. Lots of waterfalls on the way to hike to the Wayah Bald historic rock lookout tower, which overlooked Franklin, TN. We ended the week with whitewater rafting at Nantahala Outdoor Center. What a blast!
The weather did not want to cooperate for having a fire in the fire pit for roasting hot dogs and marshmallows, but we did it in the rain anyway! It was kind of a running joke…let's go home and build a fire so it will rain! Memories in the making. I loved sitting on the deck and listening to the creek and watching our family have fun.
We got to meet the owners of this beautiful home, as they also own the cabin next door. They brought their grandson with them, which was great for our grandson as he had someone to play with. Thank you, Anna, for the delicious cookies and taking DJ for a float down the creek with you and Mason, and then feeding him lunch! He had a great time. It gave his big sister a break, too. She even had fun playing in the creek with Mason.
Everything you could want (and more) was supplied, complete with inflated inner tubes for floating in the creek. All you need is yourself, clothes, beach towels, paper goods, and food if you are eating in!
I am glad this was a positive experience for us, as it is the first time we have done a VRBO. We are already thinking about coming back again in another season!
We had a phenomenal stay! We love to fly fish and enjoyed the convenience of having the creek right at the house. There wasn't anything we needed. The house had it all! (kitchen was completely stocked with any utensil you could need) We've stayed at many cabins in the area and this one was the best by far with that homey feeling. We LOVE it and WILL be back next year for sure! Everyone is SO friendly and helpful. The owners supplied all the information you would need to tour the area and some of the special sweet spots that only local residents would know.
Thank you SO much for sharing your paradise by the creek with us! We're "hooked"! See you next year!
We absolutely loved our stay in this home. Sitting on the deck and watching the creek rush by or floating down the creek on inner tubes...so relaxing and peaceful. We enjoyed day trips to Cades Cove and Gatlinburg in Tennesee, riding the Tail of the Dragon, golf in nearby Whittier, and the chance to slow down and enjoy western North Carolina.
The home is well equipped and has everything you need to make your stay comfortable. Anna makes sure that you have all the information you need to enjoy the area. We hope to return next year!
We have rented this home on the Creek for at least 5 times or more and we always have had an enjoyable and relaxing stay. This time was no different and we hate to have to leave, but must return to the real world. It's nice to have Mike there should issues arise but we have never had any trouble during a stay other than a mechanical issue on our motorcycle and he offered to help anyway he could. As usual the cabin was clean and we enjoyed grilling out on the deck & just watching the Creek go by. We rode the Motorcycle all over the place, the Dragon, the Cherohala Skyway, Moonshiner 28 and several other named roads, but believe me, if you like twisty roads you'll like any road in this part of the Country. It's a great place to stay nice and quite and away from the touristy areas but close enough to visit them, should you like. Great place, great price, great host. Thanks Mike! see you next year, or maybe during the leaf change in October.
We vacation via motorcycle and couldn't have chosen a better place to stay. You are directly in the heart of definitely the best motorcycle riding in the USA. The hospitality of Mike (property mgr) and Anna (owner) is that of a five star hotel! For the price of a "same old hotel room" you can stay literally in the "backwoods" of a beautiful mountain home with a large mountain stream running right through the back yard. The deck is just three feet from the waters edge!
Will we stay here again? Absolutely, no question about it!! We will look nowhere else when we return to the area again, and again.
Thank You, Mike and Anna for such an enjoyable stay.
Very beautiful home and Anna is a great host. We stayed here this May and loved it. Going back again. Kids loved tubing. We rode the Tail and even went up to Gaitlinburg.
The home has a certain peaceful vibe to it. All amenities included. We even cooked- will barbeque the next time.
Motorcyling 'Tail of the Dragon' and Cherohalla Skyway, Joyce Kilmer Narional Forest, Kayaking Cheoh River. Come and enjoy our beautiful Fall color season.
