No Internet or AC

  • 1 of 5

We were excited to stay off grid. The location was perfect for us and the cabin was clean and well stocked. Our family of 5 easily lived without running the generator. However, this is advertised as having both internet and ac. Both of which it doesn't have. We would have never considered this cabin if we knew this. When we spoke to the owner he assured us it wasn't advertised as having ac or internet, but that he'd check and take those amenities off if it was. I see it still advertised as having internet and ac. Without ac the cabin is uncomfortably hot even with the ceiling fans and windows open. Also, I assured my work that I'd be available at night and planned to work using the internet and my laptop. Clearly that didn't work out. Please, please fix your General section under Amenities to properly list what you offer.

Owner's Response: Hello Jason, Sorry that you had these issues! First, the cabin is Off The Grid, so A/C is not practical and a typical Solar system can not run A/C. Second, sorry for your work and internet issues. Cell service is pretty good in this remote area, so some Internet is possible but not reliable. Third, I did check the amenities site on HomeAway/VRBO. I am not entirely happy with the way HomeAway shows the amenities. If you scroll over the Internet word, you will see a note of "No Internet". The same is true for A/C, if you scroll over A/C, the note "No A/C" appears. Thanks again for staying and taking care of my cabin nicely!! Roger

The home was clean and comfortable.

Showed movie night we arrived, but ran out of electricity next morning while making coffee. It was easier starting generator than originally thought. Next night played game and electricity was sufficient for morning breakfast. Interesting experience living off the grid.
