About the property

Chalet, 3 Bedrooms + Loft, 2 Baths, (Sleeps 6-10)

The Storybook Cedar Chalet is located inside Yosemite National Park in a small private development called Yosemite West. We completely updated the interior of the Chalet in April 2013 with all new Hardwood, Tile, Carpeting, Appliances and Granite Countertops. The home is centrally located to all of the Park's major attractions. Yosemite Valley is 20 minutes away - Glacier Point is 25-30 minutes - The Mariposa Grove of Giant Sequoia Trees is 35 minutes and Badger Pass Ski Resort (renowned for it's ski school for young skiers) is located 8 miles away. The home has all of the amenities you'd want in a vacation getaway - Satellite TV, WiFi Internet access, Pool Table, a Sauna and a Spa. The Chalet sleeps up to 10 people in 3 bedrooms (2 King Size Beds and 1 Queen), a loft and sofa bed. The beds all feature pillow top mattresses & down comforters for the perfect night's sleep. The chalet has traditional gas heating, as well as a wood stove. Treat yourself to the best location in the Park with all of the amenities you'd want for your ultimate Yosemite Vacation.

Guestbook comments from the owner

Hi!

Just wanted to send a note to say how much we enjoyed our stay at your Cedar Chalet. We found the house in excellent condition and a perfect accommodation for the five of us. We loved the peace and quiet of the evenings, and were very thankful that we didn't opt to stay in the Village - too busy for us!

We had one day of serious hiking ... my husband, daughter, and niece hiked the trail of Yosemite Falls... they made it safely to the top to

take in the view and savor that feeling of a major accomplishment!

Our niece's husband and I found some "easy" trails to explore and really enjoyed ourselves. Our timing was perfect for this visit - plenty of water to show off the splendor of the falls, and beautiful summer flowers all along the way. And, perfect weather... which allowed us to see the most amazing stars on our evening "Stargazing"

tour at Glacier Point.

One evening, we decided to watch the sunset from the fire ranger station near your chalet - but we never reached our destination - we encountered one of your huge park bears - right in the middle of the trail! Everyone hightailed it out of there - I did pause long enough to snap a picture though - to prove the event to our friends!

So, we thank you for sharing your little corner of paradise.. and perhaps we will return at some point in the future - we would like to share this experience with our son, his wife, and our new grandchild some day... her pregnancy is the reason they could not travel with us ... but we all agree that the sacrifice will be well worth it!

Hope that your summer goes well, and that you are enjoying each day.

Sincerely, Dolly Canterbury

Just okay for the price

  • 3 of 5

It's hard to write anything but a positive review for such a responsive property owner. On the plus side, the home was warm and dry and just a few minutes' drive from the tunnel that leads into Yosemite Valley. The numerous minor to moderate cleanliness and usability issues of this rental cabin would be reasonable if not for the premium price the owners charge. At half the price, I'd give it at least 4 stars but considering the condition it was in when we rented it, it does not deserve a premium rate. If you do decide to rent this cabin, it's important to understand that the Waze app will take you to a dirt logging road instead of the house (obviously not the owner's fault). Also, if your intent is to get some work done while you're there, you might want to know ahead of time that the WiFi works at less than 1/2 mbps.

Owner's Response: Thank you for the kind words about our responsiveness. A couple of notes about this guest's visit: We allowed the guest to bring his 2 pet dogs for an additional fee (accounting for the higher rate). The housekeeper sent me a note that the guests that left earlier in the day left the house in a major mess and both the arriving guest and the housekeeper said she was still in the cleaning process when the guest arrived at the house before the standard check-in time (we sent the guest a note ahead and told them they could check in early due to potential weather issues). The condition left by the previous guest was unusual as most guests take good care of the home and leave it in good condition. This one unfortunately required the housekeeper to call for extra help and took extra time to make ready for the guest. Both the guest and the housekeeper emailed me that everything was taken care of when she left (or she would have stayed to make sure that it was ready). Internet service at the home is provided by satellite by 2 different providers. There is no other option for internet service in the area and the satellite service is unfortuanately slower than other broadband services and can be effected by weather.

In the Park!

  • 5 of 5

Great place and amazing location. Easy access to the valley floor. The place itself is secluded from neighboring houses. Wood burning fireplace, hot tub, sauna, pool table, cable tv, BBQ and a user-friendly kitchen nice to come home to after a long day in the wilderness. Thanks Eric!

As advertised

  • 4 of 5

Our short stay at Storybrook Chalet was very nice. The cabin was clean and amenities were as advertised. Plenty of room and convenient location. Even though restaurants are 8-12 miles away plan on at least 45 minutes drive time. Lots of construction in Yosemite Valley and some construction noise in the subdivision but only during daylight hours. Would definitely recommend to family and friends and would re-book again in the future. Owner communicated quickly and concisely and made themselves available during our stay if any issues should arise. Had a very nice, reasonable, meal at the Ahwahnee or Majestic now. Very convenient to road out to Glacier Point which is a must if you want to see a great view of the Valley floor, back country and waterfalls!!! The Super Moon was amazing.

Overall a great cabin

  • 4 of 5

We enjoyed our stay in the chalet. It was stocked with kitchen utensils and some basic cooking spices to make cooking easier. My only complaint is that the stove did not work properly and needs to be replaced. Decor is a bit tired, and needs a redo. Comfortable and close enough to the valley

Great experience at. The chalet

  • 5 of 5

Staying overnight inside the Yosemite park is an amazing experience. The chalet gave us this opportunity. Staying at our 'own' place, not an hotel..

Equipped with everything you'll need.

Pool table and jacuzzi gave our family plenty of fun time.

Clean and comfortable.

Corespondent with owner very helpful.

Thank you!
