Guestbook comments from the owner

Hi!

Just wanted to send a note to say how much we enjoyed our stay at your Cedar Chalet. We found the house in excellent condition and a perfect accommodation for the five of us. We loved the peace and quiet of the evenings, and were very thankful that we didn't opt to stay in the Village - too busy for us!

We had one day of serious hiking ... my husband, daughter, and niece hiked the trail of Yosemite Falls... they made it safely to the top to

take in the view and savor that feeling of a major accomplishment!

Our niece's husband and I found some "easy" trails to explore and really enjoyed ourselves. Our timing was perfect for this visit - plenty of water to show off the splendor of the falls, and beautiful summer flowers all along the way. And, perfect weather... which allowed us to see the most amazing stars on our evening "Stargazing"

tour at Glacier Point.

One evening, we decided to watch the sunset from the fire ranger station near your chalet - but we never reached our destination - we encountered one of your huge park bears - right in the middle of the trail! Everyone hightailed it out of there - I did pause long enough to snap a picture though - to prove the event to our friends!

So, we thank you for sharing your little corner of paradise.. and perhaps we will return at some point in the future - we would like to share this experience with our son, his wife, and our new grandchild some day... her pregnancy is the reason they could not travel with us ... but we all agree that the sacrifice will be well worth it!

Hope that your summer goes well, and that you are enjoying each day.

Sincerely, Dolly Canterbury

Yosemite

  • 4 of 5

The house and location was what we were looking for in a family vacation. Having rented 20 plus houses over the years this is the first one that we had to take our garbage with us when we left. We have no problem with taking it to a subdivision site but 16 miles to a national park when you are all packed to leave is another thing. I do not recall any notification of this before we reserved the home for our vacation as well as some other details the seemed unrealistic for a pretty expensive rental home.

Owner's Response: Unfortunately we do not have garbage pick up service at the house, as leaving garbage outside attracts bears and other wildlife, which creates issues for both the wild animals and us. We do indicate in our check out instructions that garbage needs to be taken with you when you go and we identify several places to deposit the garbage on the way out of the park. We apologize that you missed that part of our check-in/check-out sheet. Although we realize that this is a minor inconvenience, our guests generally understand the reason for not having garbage cans in a wilderness area to protect the local wildlife.

Great stay

  • 5 of 5

We enjoyed our stay here. The house was comfortable, clean and spacious. It was nice being inside the park- about 30-40 minutes from Yosemite Valley. We enjoyed the hot tub as well as the grill, and it was convenient having a washer and dryer to use. The owner Eric was very responsive by text to our questions. We would definitely stay here again.

Great location, comfortable cabin

  • 4 of 5

Great location in Yosemite West, close enough to the action but far enough from he crowds! Cabin was nice- easily could accommodate 6-8 with great amenities to cook and entertain a family. Hot days with no A/C meant sleeping a bit warm but lots of fans. Saw a huge bear in the neighborhood near the cabin- kids were excited- and a mom bear with cubs just a couple miles away. Overall very good place.

Great location to enjoy nature's paradise

  • 5 of 5

We had a great stay here. The property is a perfect location for a Yosemite visit. We were close to all Yosemite has to offer, but away from the throngs of people near the village. The house was well stocked and had everything we needed, also heard rave reviews about the pillows??. The family especially enjoyed the pool table, the hot tub, and the access to trails right behind the house. I loved having my morning coffee on the deck with the views that go on forever. Thank you for sharing your lovely place with us.

Nice place great location.

Overall the cabin was great. Location to the rest of the park was awesome. Cleanliness was good. It would have been great if the very large cobwebs inside the house were cleaned up. But it seems they have been there for a while. But definitely not a deal breaker. The pool table was awesome my kids loved it. We were able to use the jacuzzi for one night the first one. Unfortunately it was leaking when we arrived and based on the notes in the "welcomebook " it's been that way for a few visits, at least, before us. Due to the leaks we had to put water in it the next morning as it was very low. The water never got warm after that and then it stopped turning on all together. We did notify the owner and he called his contractor but there was no fix during our stay which was unfortunate because this was the main reason I was willing to pay more per night for this cabin, was for the jacuzzi and pool table feature!!! The toilets had a few plugging issues right when we got there so we had to unclog them, inconvenient . But then they started working again until the last day. Other than these few fixable items our stay was wonderful. I was unsure how well stocked the kitchen was so I brought pans and knives for cutting and cooking. But the pans and knives at the cabin where fantastic. The kitchen well stocked with all types of pans seeing plates bowls etc. even have every type of glass needed. Wine champagne shot coffee etc. and restrooms were stocked with towels and TP. Quiet neighborhood, responsive owners. Perfect for some adventures. Yosemite is fabulous so glad we were able to go. Definitely recommend. But be sure the jacuzzi works !!😜 Word of advice have your entry code printed or screen shot before you drive up to the cabin. No service means no service!😬

Owner's Response: Margarita, Thank you for staying with us. We apologize about the issue with the spa during your stay. As you know we tried to get it back up and working during your visit but the repair man comes from a couple of hours away due to the remote location and it took him a couple of days to schedule the repair visit. (He got it fixed on the day you checked out).
