We first bought a humble cabin in 1983 where we quickly became Whistler Weekend Warriors. It was a wonderful life coming from North Vancouver and raising the kids in the lifestyle that we loved. We purchased Chalet Whistler in 2007 and spend 2 - 4 days a week here making sure that attention to every detail is to the highest standards. In our future plans we will make the move from North Vancouver to retire here at the chalet in the area of Whistler that we love.

Beautiful chalet. Best self catering accommodation ever stayed in.

Accommodation was immaculate. The facilities were excellent. Didn't even have to buy washing power. Kitchen had all appliances including essential kitchen cupboard provisions. Lovely area in Spring Creek which is only 10 min drive to Whistler. Ideal property for large groups. Nice to chill out in the evening having BBQ and a soak in the hot tub. The chalet was beautifully furnished and a real home from home. Highly recommend this property.

Great house and even better location

This house is a great place to stay. We had 6 people and it was more than enough room. It's a short drive to everything that is Whistler but also in a very quiet remote setting. We were there in Early June so we did a lot of the outdoor activities which included the walking trail that cuts right through the area where this home is located. Debbie the owner has this place in great order with everything that you need and she is very organized with all of the instructions and how to manuals to make things much easier. She also was very helpful before the trip on places to eat and things to do. The back of the house faces the mountains with a spectacular view. We would stay here again for sure.

Nice property but with things to be aware of

We stayed at this property 12/27/16-1/4/17. Very snowy year at Whistler.

Positives:

- spacious and well equipped kitchen and dining area for groups

- master with steam shower, whirlpool tub and fireplace

- on site laundry and “mud room"

- easy audio/video options and hookups, music throughout house, great internet service

- hot tub easily accessible and toasty

- known subdivision, ok for pickups/dropoffs by shuttle services

Negatives:

- owners have unreliable service to clear driveway in winter. be prepared to shovel steps and driveway yourselves. see also below re snow blower.

- driveway is steep and slippery and not maintained. our rental SUV with all wheel drive slid into the garage, which owner confirmed has happened previously. Owner now says it will take until spring to resolve and repair issue, hanging onto security deposit, wants excessive fee for their own time to repair. will update once resolved.

- owners are extremely picky about personal property and the property in general. E.g. received a lecture about not using snow blower - their personal property - to clear driveway, required to call in on arrival, lots of detailed instructions about use of property.

Things to be aware of:

- property overlooks community school which has bright overhead lights on all night while we stayed. Also significant noise in morning from snow removal activities at school.

- in winter, bus stops are not really walking distance to get to base/village. Bus travel is not free.

- 2 of the 4 bedrooms are not en suite

- 2 car garage barely fit a volvo XC90 suv. Anything longer will not fit.

Value for money: consider other properties

Owner's Response: The guests' vehicle hit our garage and it is going to take until the spring to get all of the repair work done or any of the damage deposit refund. I did advise the guest that a SUV or vehicle equipped with snow tires are mandatory. Police are performing roadside checks as this winter has come with severe road conditions. Vichicles without snow tires are being turned back. This rental is a private home and snow removal is done once a day. We do ask guests to keep the entrance and 5 stairs clear of snow for saftey reasons and guests seem to understand. The driveway does get slippery and we provide a garbage can of gravel mix and de-icer . This guest called New Years Eve to complain that the garage door would not close and also that his wifes' car slid into the garage and said that the two incidents were unrelated. My husband drove to Whistler on New Years Eve in less than ideal road conditions to assess the damage and repair the door that would not close. This was a 4 hour trip. Damage includes broken up drywall, garage door seal, frame realignment, cauking, masonery. There will be drywall replacement, taping, mudding and painting. This work cannot be done until the spring. I offered twice for their insurance company to send a contracter to give a quote so they can move forward with their claim, but no response. The snow blower is a large piece of machinery that not everybody can handle and could be a liability. Our double garage is full size. We park our Lexus SUV in and there is a bench at the end of one stall that can be moved to accommodate a full size Yukon. All 4 bedrooms have their own private bathrooms. There are 5 bathrooms in all. Light coming in bedroom has never been an issue when the professionally installed blinds are closed. The bus stop is on the street below us and less a 5 minute walk and guests must have assumed that it was free.

Spacious, well appointed, lovely home, with easy ski access.

My son and daughter in law, along with three children in their 20's, joined me for a ski vacation. The home enabled everyone to have space and a variety of media use simultaneously. We enjoyed cooking and hanging out in the well stocked kitchen, and relaxing in front of the fireplaces. The radiant heat floors were awesome. Mountain access via Creekside was easy, but we preferred taking a little longer to drive to the Village to utilize the big variety of lift choices for both mountains. The handbook provided by the owners on the home's operation was very useful, and they were very responsive to any issues. We highly recommend this residence and would return.

Incredible vacation home (summer)

The property was great. We visited in summer (6 of us) and had plenty of space - bedrooms and bathrooms were big and all very comfortable. The kitchen was one of the most well stocked vacation rental kitchens I've ever seen, and the whole place was just very comfortable. Excellent entertainment options with great audio, netflix capability, etc. Very close enough to Whistler village (~10 min). Debbie was very friendly with all the communications we had with her.

My only suggestion for improvement would be around trash/recycling drop off. The owner mandates dropping it off to a nearby trash/recycling center, which is only 1 min away and actually on the way back to Vancouver if leaving that way. But the center is very specific about how it has to be done - trash must go in plastic bags, and recycling must be separated into each specific type (including between different types of plastic). I would either prefer to let the house owner take care of this, or just give the renter more specific instructions about what needs to be done because we wasted a lot of time by putting the trash in paper bags!

Amazing Mountain Home

This home was the perfect retreat for 3 couples to stay at Whistler. Minutes from the bike trail, market, restaurants, golf, Whistler Village. Kitchen and patios are amazing.
