Amazing weekend

  • 5 of 5

Our family of five enjoyed this perfect cabin that is situated in the heavens of western N.C.! The view is beautiful and unforgettable! The beds were cozy, and the cabin is a short drive to Cherokee and Asheville. We spent days meandering around both places, but we were all happy to return to the this perfectly appointed cabin at the end of the days. We made it a point to be home in time to capture the sunset each day! WOW!!! Is all I can say about the colors that lit up the sky at sunset!... Our favorite view ever in the mountains. We’ve stayed at VRBO rentals for the mountains to the coast, and this rental is just perfect. It was meticulously clean. The pictures do not do it justice, and we definitely will plan to come back. Thank you for sharing your little piece of heaven with our family!

Lovely home with fabulous views

  • 5 of 5

This lovely log cabin with it's amazing views over the Maggie Valley was the perfect location to view the solar eclipse with my sisters. The wrap around deck was our go to location for morning coffee and evening sunsets. The home was immaculate, spacious and very comfortable. Definitely would stay here again when I return to visit the Blue Ridge Mountains.

N.C.'s best views are right off that back porch

  • 5 of 5

We had such a great trip and absolutely adored the cabin. It was furnished beautifully and had all the comforts of home. We enjoyed cooking dinner each night together in the spacious kitchen and made sure to be home by sunset so we could watch the great show of colors put on by the Smokes. We traveled all around NC and even to TN. Thunderstruck was a great middle point for many adventures

Awestruck at Thunderstruck

  • 5 of 5

Our family of 5 had the opportunity visit in the middle of August. Although not our first stay in the area, it was by far the best house we have ever rented. Everything about the house exceeded our expectations...beatifully kept, clean and full of amenities for an extended stay. And of course, the view that greets you after you enter the house an walk towards the back porch is phenomenal. Based on weather conditions, the view is ever changing and never gets old.

The cabin was also a great jumping off point for all the activities in the area. We spent alot of time in the National Park riding to Cligmans Dome, Cades Cove, Cataloochee Valley (where we saw our first Elk), and hiking some trails to gaze at the beautiful waterfalls. The kids also enjoyed Cherokee and Maggie Valley (mining for treasures at the gem shop). All in all, a wonderful time that we hope to have an opportunity to do again in the future.

You've heard about the views and the cabin but here is what you need to know...

  • 5 of 5

We've been to Thunderstruck about a half a dozen times and, indeed, the view and the cabin keep bringing us back. What you really need to know, however, is that Lissa and Scott are the perfect hosts. Lissa's legal background protects both them and their guests because everything is clearly spelled out. You have to admit that VRBO can be a little nerve-wracking because you don't really know what you will find until you arrive. With Lissa and Scott you have nothing to fear. Select a date, go up the mountain and expect nothing short of 5 stars.

Beautiful location and long range view. Beautiful cabin.

  • 4 of 5

It was fantastic with two exceptions. The bed in the master is very worn and visibly sagging on both sides. The toilets on the main floor flush poorly at best. The view and the overall beautiful and comfort of the cabin pretty much offset the negatives. The quiet loaction near town was ideal. We would be tempted to stay there again if nothing was changed, and would definitely stay and recommend it to friends if the bed was replaced.

Owner's Response: We appreciate the feedback about your stay at Thunderstruck Ridge Cabin. We receive many great comments about how comfortable the beds are at the cabin, and therefore were very surprised by your comment. As you know, mattress comfort is a personal preference . We had the pleasure of spending some restful time at the cabin right after your departure and can assure you that all beds are in excellent condition, and the toilets are high efficiency rating and operating properly. We strive to provide our guests with quality accommodations and amenities to create an enjoyable vacation experience.
