Cranmer Hearth Lakehouse

Bedrooms 4
Half Baths1
Property type house

About the property

House, 4 Bedrooms + Den, 4.5 Baths, (Sleeps 8-10)

The fireplace was built with stones found by the Cranmer family from the lake, the woods and area farm fields over 60 years ago. It’s why we call our lake house the “Cranmer Hearth”.

It’s almost 3 acres with 200 feet of frontage on Lake Michigan in Cross Village at the northern beginning of the nationally historic highway called the ‘Tunnel of Trees”; a stunning example of the best of ‘Northern Michigan’.

We’ve renovated and with professional assistance from Interior Design Options of Gaylord have redecorated this beautiful beachside home. Four bedrooms, two are master suites, one with a king bed and one with a queen bed. The two smaller bedrooms are one with a double bed and one with two twins plus a den with a futon. So it sleeps 8 comfortably, 10 with the futon with 4.5 bathrooms. MyPillows and Boll & Branch bedding new for the 2017 season! Stunning sunsets and fresh water breezes with a small, always babbling spring just feet from the deck - it's a great spot to unwind and just hang out for a week or two.

Many amenities including granite counters in the kitchen, espresso maker and flat screen televisions with Satellite TV and just minutes from Cross Village – a pleasant, peaceful village – the opposite of the hectic lives most of us live. Yet within 20 to 30 minutes from Harbor Springs, Mackinaw Island and Pelston Airport (PLN) - daily non-stops from Detroit.

Welcome - we'd love to have you as our guests!

About The Owner

Greetings from Cross Village! We purchased and renovated this wonderful lakehouse in Spring 2009 and were overwhelmed by both the interest in it and how nice the folks were who became our guests. Thank you, Joe and Joletta Richert

The Owner purchased this house in 2009

Why The Owner chose Harbor Springs

It's an unbelievable part of the world - standing on 200 feet of sand and dunes makes us (at least) realize what a great state Michigan is. Located at the beginning of one of our country's top 10 scenic highways, the 'Tunnel of Trees', when you get here, you're there.

What makes this house unique

There is a small year 'round spring that trickles through the rocks just a few feet south of the deck and patio. Cross Village is a quiet place, yet it is only 20 to 30 minutes from Harbor Springs, Mackinaw Island, and Pelston Airport (PLN) with daily flights to Detroit. Some of Michigan's best golf is within minutes, too.

Wonderful house!

  • 5 of 5

This is a great house for a family vacation. We hosted our 3 grown children, their spouses and 2 granddaughters. Everyone had their own room (granddaughters shared) and the way the rooms are arranged everyone has a private space. The setting is beautiful and the beach is great. We had cool rainy weather (the fireplace was welcome!) most of the week, but still managed a little beach time. Other time was spent reading, playing games (good selection in the house), painting rocks and having a good time together. The dark park about 30 minutes away is worth a trip if you have a clear night. We plan on coming back next year.

We could not have asked for a better family vacation at the Cranmer Hearth Lakehouse. The accommodations were absolutely amazing. Our every need was addressed. The views of Lake Michigan, especially the sunsets, were unforgettable. This was the perfect place to unwind, unplug and completely relax. Family Vacation at the lake

  • 5 of 5

We enjoyed the family vacation here. The house was very clean when we walked in with a comfortable feeling. The outdoor area was perfect to build a fire and spend time roasting hot dogs and marshmallows. The children loved the little spring in the yard and the beach to collect rocks. The owners were very helpful during the booking process. If you love the outdoors this area is a must do. We hiked at the local state park, road bikes in Mackinac and Harbor Springs, rented a boat at a near by lake, did some barn dancing and just enjoyed the view of the stars.

Our stay at Cranmer Hearth...

  • 5 of 5

We have vacationed on Lake Michigan for the last 20 years, and have stayed in many lovely homes on the water.

This property however offers all you could ever want, 200 feet of beach, 3 acres, you are surrounded by trees and no one else. The house is amazing inside, with plenty of room the relax and enjoy.

The beach is great and nice to be a short walk from the house, much more private than most we have rented. Really enjoyed the Master Bedroom shower, the view is spectacular and a first for us having a view from the shower.

The grill and the deck are perfect, along with the fire pit. Enjoyed the view while reading a book or two.

We have been watching this property for several years and finally decided it was time. It was all we wanted and more, we will be coming back.

Thanks to Shannon for answering all my questions, and for Joe being a saint for renting such a beautiful home.

You now have another faithful returning customer,

Thanks again,

Terry & Liz

Best Ever!

  • 5 of 5

Cross Village and the Good Hart area has been a favorite vacation spot for me and my family for almost 30 years, and Cranmer Hearth was the best stay ever. The home is absolutely lovely and accommodating, and the beach is wonderful and private. We enjoyed the well equipped kitchen and great out-door barbecue on the deck and sandy landing near beach, where star gazing is terrific. There are lots of things to do in the area: Good Hart stores, very tasty crepes, Cross Village's Legs Inn, and a new restaurant, Old World Cafe, with fresh squeezed orange juice, workshops atThree Pines studio, Pond Hill Farm, Mackinac Island, Harbor Springs, Tom's Mom's Cookies, and Petoskey. We discovered Moosejaw Junction, a nearby restaurant, because I read the reviews in the guest book. Although there are many activities, we loved our stay at Cranmer Hearth the best. It was very special! We will return!

Great Family Trip!

  • 5 of 5

I have stayed in over a dozen vacation homes and this was one of my favorites. Well-equipped, easy booking, responsive owner...a home run for our vacation with Nana, Pop-pop, their children and grand children. Plenty of space for everyone to spread out. Lots of different things for everyone to do. The downstairs den was a great escape for the kids when we weren't at the beach.

There was even a lime zester for our pork marinade. How many vacation homes are so well equipped that there is a lime zester???
