Imagine yourself in an authentic adobe home on 3 ½ acres of secluded desert, surrounded adobe walls and beautiful landscaped yard with native plants, situated within 50 acres of traditional Saguaro cactus Sonoran desert. Depending on the time of year, you may see or hear coyote, bobcats, road runners, javelina, and other desert wildlife.

Very rich and bright colors inside the house complement our personal collection of original art from the Southwest and the Americas. You will be delighted by the indoor and outdoor mosaics that accents the property. You’ll even dine on John Wayne’s table used in the movie The Shootist.

We have three beautiful outdoor sitting areas, which include a screened Arizona room, facing east for the sunrise, a shaded interior patio looking onto our native cactus-landscaped yard, and a roof deck. The roof deck, with a 360 degree view of the Tucson basin and sunsets over the Tucson and Catalina Mountains, provides a spectacular setting for outdoor coffee, margaritas, or hors d’oeuvres.

The interior of the home and Guest House are decorated and furnished with comfort and charm in mind. The kitchen is well appointed for all your gourmet cooking needs. The colorful dishware, cutlery, serving pieces, bake ware, complete set of cooking utensils, blender, cuisinart, coffee maker, new electric stove and oven, will inspire the creative chef inside you. The double sink and dishwasher will please the clean-up crew.

In addition to the living room with a working kiva fireplace and two lush couches, is a separate sitting room with a TV, DVD player, and writing desk. You will also find a 2nd TV in the kitchen and 3rd TV in the Guest House master bedroom, all on Dish network. A docking station for your iPod is integrated into the sound system, which is wired to speakers throughout the Main House as well as all outside sitting areas.

For true relaxation there is a hot tub to lounge in and around. We also have a washer and dryer for your convenience as well as central air conditioning in the Main House and an evaporative swamp cooler in the Guest House.

We are located 3 minutes from Saguaro National Park West; 5 minutes from I-10; and 20 to 30 minutes from most of the city’s attractions, restaurants, and businesses, including all venues of The Tucson Gem Show, The Desert Museum, the University of Arizona, Arizona Museums, Pima Air and Space Museum, Northwestern Hospital, San Xavier du Bac church, downtown Tucson, all Northwest Tucson restaurants and shopping. In addition there are numerous golf courses, tennis clubs, horseback riding stables, and even ballooning to enjoy.

Within 1 to 2 hours you can reach Mt. Lemmon, Biosphere 2, Kitt Peak Observatory, the art community of Tubac, Nogales for a unique day in Mexico, Kartchner Caverns, Chiricahua National Monument, Tombstone, Bisbee, Organ Pipe Cactus National Monument, and Phoenix, AZ. For your convenience, we are 1 mile from supermarkets, many local restaurants, Starbucks, a 10 plex movie theater, movie rentals, and Wal-Mart.

This is an ideal home for quiet private time, relaxed reading and writing, and as a base for some of the country’s most important Birding locations including Madera Canyon and Buenos Aires National Wildlife Refuge, as well as incredible hikes through the Saguaro National Parks, Sabino Canyon, Ventana Canyon, Pima Canyon, Catalina State Park, and other enticing locations. We even have a Petroglyph hike just 5 minutes from the house.

One well-behaved dog is welcome. This is a non-smoking home with a minimum age of 10 years for children.

Beautiful Home in Quiet Desert Location

  • 5 of 5

The house was comfortable and very well decorated in a southwestern style. We enjoyed the views from the rooftop deck. We also spent a lot of time relaxing outdoors in the screened porch and covered patio. The kitchen is well stocked with dishes, silverware, pots, pans, etc. We spent a week and wished it was longer.

Comfortable, well-decorated retreat away from road noise

  • 4 of 5

Lovely views from this well-decorated southwestern property. There are two bedrooms in the main house and an annex off of the garage with a king bed and full bathroom. The yard included a hot tub which was very enjoyable every evening around cocktail time. The elevation affords views east of the sunsets on the mountains and the location is just a couple miles from Saguaro National Park, Tucson Mountain District. The house sits about 250 yards off of the paved road so is peaceful, yet it is only a mile and one-half from gas/bank/restaurants/ Fry grocery. We found everything we needed for cooking, video viewing and reading/relaxing!

Lovely desert home with endless surprises in its desert decorations.

  • 5 of 5

Nice house with very nice set-up: there were three of us, so my wife's brother stayed in the guest quarters while we stayed in the master br. The kitchen is great for people who know kitchens; markets not far. Gary, the owner, is very responsive and is committed to a good guest experience.

Wonderfully secluded get away still very close to the amenities. Could not have been more pleased with the location and the ambience. Would definitely be on my list for a return stay to Tucson.

Lovely, relaxing vacation

  • 5 of 5

Everything noted by earlier reviewers is true! This is a lovely home in a magical setting. It’s decorated wonderfully, and fully equipped. The kitchen is the best equipped that we’ve ever found in a VRBO. The location is perfect - away from congestion, but close enough to get places. It’s a reasonable drive to downtown Tucson, or to the Sonora Desert Museum, for example. Quarry Pines golf course nearby is recommended for golfers. We enjoyed a great vacation here: wine on the deck at sunset; coffee in the morning at sunrise; a few dinners out; a lot of local sightseeing; and much, much relaxation.
