About Gary Topper
We purchased this property as a second home but then decided to share the beauty of the Tucson desert surrounding us and our unique lifestyle with those that would truly appreciate this exquisite piece of Mother Earth.
Gary Topper purchased this House in 2005

We wished we could stay longer
Gary's wonderful house was the perfect base for our Tucson trip. The lovely grounds and artistic decor were incredible, and the house was comfortable for relaxing and resting. We hope to come again and watch the sunset from the rooftop deck again!
Perfect Family Vacation Spot
We knew as soon as we pulled in the gravel driveway, that this was the perfect location for our 3-generation family vacation. We enjoyed watching the hot air balloons rise with the sun while sipping coffee on the enclosed porch each morning, and enjoyed watching the sun set from the roof patio. We spent time in the hot tub and were close to all the activities and sightseeing that we wanted to do while in Tucson. The house was welcoming, comfortable and decorated beautifully. The yard was thoughtfully landscaped and I feel like I was able to escape and relax while staying in Casa Encantada. Family that lives close by came to warn us about the wildlife, but as soon as they pulled up and saw the wall and gates on the property, they knew it was safe for us and our kids. You will not regret spending your time in this beautiful home!
Casa Encantada- beyond wonderful
This property is perfect if you are searching for a relaxing stay amongst the saguaro cacti. We didn’t miss an enchanting sunrise or sunset and the starry night views from the hot tub are blissful. Because the property sits on several acres close to Saguaro National Park, you can take strolls in the desert in your own back yard some of which looks like a garden featuring metal sculptures but most is natural desert.
The home was perfect for our family of four but could easily accommodate six in very comfortable beds- two kings and one queen. There is a den that provides even more space for people to spread out. There are three televisions but we seldom even turned them on. The high speed WiFi reception is reliable both inside and outside the house. The screened in front porch was a wonderful spot for morning yoga as the sun rose over the mountains. There is even a yoga mat for your use in the den. In the morning, I could hear the coyotes singing in the distance. The kitchen is very well equipped and we enjoyed many meals together after days of adventures. We also used the barbecue on the courtyard patio. The casa is a tribute to Southwest architecture and art and you could spend hours exploring the sculptures, sketches and paintings.
The laundry area is located in a small entrance way that leads to the courtyard and we made good use of the washer and dryer.
We chose to stay at Casa Encantada because we wanted to live in the desert and we were not disappointed. The property is spacious and secluded but close to everything we needed for a great holiday. We found that shopping at Fry’s grocery store was very convenient and in the guest manual, we discovered Fry’s VIP cards which we used at the grocery store and saved a lot of money on our purchases.
The nights in mid March were chilly but the days were warm and perfect for our desert adventures. Sometimes we needed a light jacket. We hiked in Saguaro National Park, visited the fabulous Arizona Desert Museum and native animal sanctuary, strolled around the Tohono Chul gardens and really enjoyed a delicious lunch on their special back patio. We even discovered that the Centennial theatre at the university is a first class venue for live theatre. We saw the U.S. national tour of “The King and I”.
We would highly recommend Casa Encantada to anyone who wants a taste of the desert life in comfortable and beautiful surroundings. Staying here is so much more special than life at a resort.
Beautiful home and grounds. The pictures are nice but in person it is so much more!
We booked this home for a girls getaway and to visit my daughter at the University of Arizona. Gary was extremely easy to deal with and very responsive when I had questions before and after we booked the property.
The home was in the perfect location for us. Off the road and private but close to grocery, shopping and restaurants as well as I-10, Gates Pass where we watched the sunset and Saguaro National Park West which was amazing! The yard is beautifully landscaped. The inside of the home is beautiful and comfortable. We immediately felt at home. Decorated in colorful Southwest decor with all the amenities you could want in a vacation home. A gas grill on the patio and a rooftop terrace were a bonus for us! Sitting up there at night watching the twinkling lights of Tucson and beyond was wonderful! We loved coming back at night after sightseeing all day, to cook dinner and enjoy the home. None of us wanted to leave! Thank you Gary for allowing us to enjoy your beautiful home. We hope to come back!
Wonderful family vacation
The property is the perfect oasis for a family retreat in Tucson. The house is festively decorated, comfortable, and offers all the amenities you’ll need. We enjoyed the rooftop patio, screened-in porch, and the hot tub as well as the beautiful desert views and the privacy. All of the beds were comfortable, and there was plenty of hot water for showers and cleaning up after a full day of golf and sightseeing. We highly recommend this property.
In a class by itself
