Very rich and bright colors inside the house complement our personal collection of original art from the Southwest and the Americas. You will be delighted by the indoor and outdoor mosaics that accents the property. You’ll even dine on John Wayne’s table used in the movie The Shootist.

We have three beautiful outdoor sitting areas, which include a screened Arizona room, facing east for the sunrise, a shaded interior patio looking onto our native cactus-landscaped yard, and a roof deck. The roof deck, with a 360 degree view of the Tucson basin and sunsets over the Tucson and Catalina Mountains, provides a spectacular setting for outdoor coffee, margaritas, or hors d’oeuvres.

The interior of the home and Guest House are decorated and furnished with comfort and charm in mind. The kitchen is well appointed for all your gourmet cooking needs. You will also find a 2nd TV in the kitchen and 3rd TV in the Guest House master bedroom, all on Dish network. A docking station for your iPod is integrated into the sound system, which is wired to speakers throughout the Main House as well as all outside sitting areas.

For true relaxation there is a hot tub to lounge in and around. We also have a washer and dryer for your convenience as well as central air conditioning in the Main House and an evaporative swamp cooler in the Guest House.

We are located 3 minutes from Saguaro National Park West; 5 minutes from I-10; and 20 to 30 minutes from most of the city’s attractions, restaurants, and businesses, including all venues of The Tucson Gem Show, The Desert Museum, the University of Arizona, Arizona Museums, Pima Air and Space Museum, Northwestern Hospital, San Xavier du Bac church, downtown Tucson, all Northwest Tucson restaurants and shopping. In addition there are numerous golf courses, tennis clubs, horseback riding stables, and even ballooning to enjoy.

Within 1 to 2 hours you can reach Mt. Lemmon, Biosphere 2, Kitt Peak Observatory, the art community of Tubac, Nogales for a unique day in Mexico, Kartchner Caverns, Chiricahua National Monument, Tombstone, Bisbee, Organ Pipe Cactus National Monument, and Phoenix, AZ. For your convenience, we are 1 mile from supermarkets, many local restaurants, Starbucks, a 10 plex movie theater, movie rentals, and Wal-Mart.

This is an ideal home for quiet private time, relaxed reading and writing, and as a base for some of the country’s most important Birding locations including Madera Canyon and Buenos Aires National Wildlife Refuge, as well as incredible hikes through the Saguaro National Parks, Sabino Canyon, Ventana Canyon, Pima Canyon, Catalina State Park, and other enticing locations. We even have a Petroglyph hike just 5 minutes from the house.

One well-behaved dog is welcome. This is a non-smoking home with a minimum age of 10 years for children.

In a class by itself

  • 5 of 5

This picture doesn't begin to do justice to this lovely spot. You are embraced by the desert, outside and by the colors of the Southwest inside.

The home is beautifully decorated, full of everything you'd ever need to cook, relax, meditate.

It is well located for many of the iconicTucson locations including the Desert Museum and Saguaro National Park.

In addition, there is a roof top deck with a 360 degree views of the mountains, desert ad downtown Tucson- the sunsets are spectacular.

Expectations far exceeded and lasting memories created at Casa Encantada!

  • 5 of 5

Casa Encantada... we were hooked on our first glimpse of this property as it revealed itself around the last curve of the driveway. Blended into its surroundings it stood like a bright welcome as a lighthouse is to mariners at sea. This home exudes character and tranquility. Its setting in northwest Tucson could not have been more perfect for our family of five for the holidays. We came from far corners of the snowy, cold and wet Northwest, Northeast and Midwest for desert sun and warmth. We didn't expect the house to provide some of that warmth as well.

The open kitchen, dining area and family room perfectly lended itself to meal after meal cooked and prepared in the well equipped kitchen and/or on the porch BBQ . Heck, they even had a potato ricer for making perfect mashed potatoes. The self contained attached cottage is only a few very short steps from the main house. The grounds are thoughtfully designed highlighting desert vegetation with art sculptures and whimsical placement of yard decorations. We could have easily spent our time relaxing on the property and felt like we wouldn't have missed anything.

When we did venture out we found everything we needed was just a mile away in the multiple shopping areas. Want to hike... Saguaro National Park (West) is literally just out your door with a short drive. The Arizona-Sonora Desert Museum is just around the corner and a must see. Or if you are feeling more sedate you can take in the rising or setting sun from the rooftop deck as you read a book or enjoy snacks. This provides great views in all directions. Lots of other outside areas to watch and listen to the desert sounds.

Finally, the hosts, Gary and Tom. We all agreed we have never met more helpfulness and sincere interest in the quality of our stay than provided by these two gentlemen. They spent considerable efforts in promptly replying to my pre-stay questions about the property and sincerely hoped we would enjoy it as much as they have. I found the house accurately represented, the interior design elements to be artistically thought out and the whole experience to be exactly what we were looking for in our desert escape. It was difficult to pack up and leave after our week long stay. We are already looking ahead to next year. Thanks, Casa Encntada, you charmed us, indeed!

Beautiful Home in Quiet Desert Location

  • 5 of 5

The house was comfortable and very well decorated in a southwestern style. We enjoyed the views from the rooftop deck. We also spent a lot of time relaxing outdoors in the screened porch and covered patio. The kitchen is well stocked with dishes, silverware, pots, pans, etc. We spent a week and wished it was longer.

Comfortable, well-decorated retreat away from road noise

  • 4 of 5

Lovely views from this well-decorated southwestern property. There are two bedrooms in the main house and an annex off of the garage with a king bed and full bathroom. The yard included a hot tub which was very enjoyable every evening around cocktail time. The elevation affords views east of the sunsets on the mountains and the location is just a couple miles from Saguaro National Park, Tucson Mountain District. The house sits about 250 yards off of the paved road so is peaceful, yet it is only a mile and one-half from gas/bank/restaurants/ Fry grocery. We found everything we needed for cooking, video viewing and reading/relaxing!
