Modern apartment in a JP 2 family. Enjoy our extensive collection of fresh local art. This is not your standard run of the mill rental. Collection will occasionally rotate. Currently showing 'Ladylike' by Christine Li and black & white photography by Janelle McCuen as well as other works. Completely redesigned with a SS kitchen, washer/dryer in unit, pantry, huge closets, tall ceilings (12 ft in some places), recessed lighting, modern fixtures, and an office alcove. Versatile floor plan good for couples or roomies. Enjoy Japanese style garden just outside master bedroom. 1blk to T, Bella Luna restaurant/bar, gym, Ula Cafe. Walk to Centre Street's many shops and restaurants. Convenient central location to downtown, 93, 95, 90, etc. Minutes to Medical area. Jamaica Pond has 60 acres (240,000 m2) of surface area and is the largest and deepest body of fresh water in Boston... Stayed here for 4 nights in June what a wonderful place this is.

2 couple shared and it was ideal.

Everything is there for you it really is home from home. The owners have thought of everything and are there for you if needed but if not just let you get on with your holiday.

The location is amazing just a short underground ride from the centre of Boston and 2 min walk to the property, easy to get to/ from the airport using the underground.

Just 2 mins from the property in the brewery which has been renoveated to include a wonderful coffee shops ula and a wonderful restraunt bella luna both a must if staying here.

Cannot praise this wonderful property enough.

Great Stay at the Arthouse

Exactly as advertised, the Arthouse was found to be well maintained and nicely updated, with good amenities and a comfortable interior; a great stay for five adults. Its convenience to the T Orange line (Stony Brook Station) is perfect for travelling to downtown and especially for Boston marathoners looking for quick and easy transport to the Boston Common buses (Chinatown station) and back home at the end of the race (Back Bay station). The Jamaica Plan neighborhood is safe, family friendly with a fine selection of local cafes/restaurants and local groceries. Owner Christine was great and easy to reach and provided us with local recommendations making our visit truly enjoyable. Definitely would recommend this property to others and would stay here again.

We were very pleased with our stay. The Arthouse was comfortable, well appointed, and well taken care of. Christine was easy to work with and checked in with us soon after we arrived. She also responded quickly to inquiries. We would be happy to stay there again.

Spacious and neat, the Arthouse was a real treat!

The Arthouse was a nice clean place to rent for a couple days. Very easy walk to subway and close to the Brewery, which we toured. Overall I would highly recommend this place to rent while you tour Boston. Christine was very helpful with any questions we had and her response was within minutes. A must stay!

Dark kitchen/living room, neglected garden, disappointing

We were pleased with the prompt responses to queries.

Location is good - close to public transport and a short walk to a reasonable restaurant. The area felt OK too. Wardrobe space is good and the washer and dryer are useful. The flat's a good size and it's nice to have outside space - even with a "resident" raccoon!

We noticed the first review is 2009 - presumably this is when the very good photographs were taken. The overall impression of the dingy kitchen/dining/living room is of slightly seedy, student-type accommodation. The kitchen sink plug hole was stained brown and didn't have a plug: no washing-up bowl or dishwasher so eating-in was impossible. The hob is marked, the oven and trays need a proper clean. (Not sure if the ancient-looking cooker would be legal in English rented accommodation.) The saute pan has a wobbly handle and the non-stick layer is long gone. Extractor only operates at full capacity and we couldn't get the light to work. We're not tall so we couldn't use the microwave on top of the fridge/freezer. No vacuum cleaner or dustpan and brush, no clothes airer. (Not all fabrics benefit from a tumble dryer!)

The bathroom is adequate but also in dire need of a deep clean. A washbasin plug would have been useful!

The beds were made-up atrociously. We initially thought that the ill-fitting linen hadn't been changed but then we realised that the creased sheets are probably taken out of the dryer and put straight back on the beds. We detest sleeping with a top sheet under a duvet but it was either that or wash the duvet covers as we couldn't be sure they'd been laundered. The bedrooms are sparsely furnished, i.e. no chests of drawers or reading lamps (there's a floor lamp in one room and a table lamp in the other).

The "garden" (backyard) is in a very sorry state, covered in old dead leaves but the weeds are doing very well - not much like the photographs. Moss on the paving stones, the odd pile of junk, the poor condition of the rickety fold-up chairs and tiny table just add to the general air of neglect.

We didn't see any "art" in the "Arthouse" unless a few framed prints and photographs constitute "art".

Apparently guests are "fined" for certain transgressions. One mustn't fail to empty the bins, wash the bed linen/towels, wash-up (no mention of how!), etc.

The lack of facilities resulted in us having to eat out all of the time and thus a very expensive stay indeed. Overall we were very, very disappointed.

Long Weekend Trip

We had a very nice time in Boston during a Harvard Med School ceremony. The location was easy access to the train and close to the Med School, quick trip by Uber. The Jamaica Plains neighborhood was very nice! The local coffee shop and pizza place were great. The Athouse was perfect for 4 of us. Thank you!

In 1997, Jamaica Plain had the third highest percentage of tree cover of all Boston neighborhoods and the highest percentage in the Heart of the City. Jamaica Plain is nestled between tremendous open space resources, including Franklin Park, the Arnold Arboretum, the Forest Hills Cemetery, Jamaica Pond, the Allandale Woods Urban Wild, and the Southwest Corridor Park, as well as numerous other smaller parks, tot-lots, and playgrounds. Jamaica Plain contains or is adjacent to more than 1,250 acres of open space.

Jamaica Plain is served by a rapid transit line that runs through the center of the neighborhood along the Southwest Corridor. The Orange Line that originates at the Forest Hills MBTA Station in southern Jamaica Plain includes three more stops in the neighborhood, and extends to downtown Boston and beyond.
