About the property

Yellowstone Cabin Rental On Private Acreage Five Miles From The Park's North Gate And Best Wildlife Watching And Cutthroat Trout Fishing!

Charming cabin built in 2009 with two bedrooms that sleeps 5-8 located just five minutes from Yellowstone Park's North Entrance on 26 acres of private property. Perfect for travelers who want easy access to the famous Northern Range and Lamar Valley with its bison, elk, deer, wolves, bears, AND fishing for world-famous Yellowstone cutthroat trout!

This beautiful cabin is unlike all other vacation rental properties in the area. Lying in an extremely private location just above Highway 89 north of Gardiner, Montana, and the Roosevelt Arch, the cabin is easily accessed by a well-maintained, short, 300 yard-long Private Drive.

This setting provides you with total solitude and isolation from any hustle and bustle of the busy roadways leading to/from the park. However, at the same time, when needed, you are just minutes away from restaurants, the market, and shops in Gardiner or a bit further away in Livingston and Bozeman.

Built on a log frame, this cabin has all modern amenities yet has a great amount of rustic appeal including beautiful hardwood floors. It has enormous windows giving you unmatched views of Yellowstone's Electric Peak, Devil's Slide, Dome Mountain, and many other spectacular geological features. Wildlife abound here and deer, elk, pronghorn antelope, bighorn sheep, or bison are seen on the meadows and mountain slopes near the cabin. Often during the spring and fall, they are standing right in the cabin's yard. No-where else in the northern Rockies will you find wildlife this abundant and close in a natural setting.

Horses graze nearby, and the Yellowstone River, home to world-class trout fishing, leaves the park and passes just a few hundred yards below you.

There are many access sites to the Yellowstone River very near to the cabin, one within easy walking distance (that is a very great fishing spot...just ask our boys!).

Being near Gardiner, our cabin is at the home of the Yellowstone Association, a long-standing educational institute offering numerous courses in the park. The Electric Peak Cabin is a perfect place to stay when visiting and attending these courses.

About Todd Koel

We are a family of six including four young boys who love the Greater Yellowstone Area.

Todd has a Ph.D. in Zoology and works professionally to preserve the native animals here, especially Yellowstone cutthroat trout and the ecosystem they support!

Todd Koel purchased this cabin in 2009

Why Todd Koel chose Yellowstone Country

We have built this cabin here because Yellowstone Park is the greatest place on the face of the planet. We want to provide an opportunity for visitors to relax and share in the Yellowstone experience.

The Yellowstone River and great fishing are within walking distance of the cabin door. Also the Yellowstone Association and all its educational opportunities are found right near our place at Gardiner.

This is our home and we love it. Come on out here and stay for awhile!

Guestbook comments from the manager

We visited Yellowstone for one week on our 6-month journey from the Netherlands. We had a very pleasant stay. Unfortunately many of the roads in Yellowstone were still closed, however we visited Mammoth Hot Springs, Lamar Valley, and Tower Falls. We went swimming in the Boiling River (recommended!)and we saw lots and lots of wildlife: hundreds of bison and elk, pronghorn, deer, coyotes, bighorn sheep. We missed out on the bears. We also enjoyed the wildlife around the cabin.

Thanks alot for everything, and to you Justin, Aaron, Ryan, and Tyler for letting us use your bikes!!

Thursday we are leaving for West Glacier (thanks Tod for the route info). A few months in Canada before going back home in July.

Beautiful location, with everything you need

  • 5 of 5

We had a wonderful holiday stay at Electric Peak. Even with some pretty cold and blustery weather at times, the cabin was cozy and warm. The view was incredible, and Todd was very helpful with everything. Yellowstone in winter is magical.

Great Yellowstone value

  • 5 of 5

EP Cabin is a really good deal given it's location so close to Yellowstone National Park. It's equipped with everything needed for cooking and cozy time inside. The front porch would be a wonderful place for morning coffee and evening beverages, in the summer, with fantastic views of the Park, to the west, and Devil's Slide, to the north. The cabin is far enough above and away from the highway that we didn't hear any road noise. Jeff is a fine host who was easily reached with questions, and he stopped by the first day to make sure we were settled in.Great alternative to the sterile hotels in Gardiner and much more expensive rentals further north in the Paradise Valley.

Great for a winter stay!

  • 5 of 5

We had such a lovely time at Todd's cabin at Electric Peak. It turned out to be the perfect place for a winter getaway. If you're looking at the property, you're probably thinking about places to stay near Mammoth Hot Springs and the north entrance to Yellowstone. This cabin works great because you're close enough to the park that it's easy to drive in and out each day, but you get the seclusion of your own space and the ability to relax, cook, and not be stuck in some motel in Gardiner. We spent two days/three nights at the cabin and drove into Yellowstone each day to cross country ski, one day around Mammoth Hot Spring and the next out at Tower Junction. We saw bison, coyotes, eagles, elk, and more and got to enjoy the magic of Yellowstone in the winter. We could have spent many more days exploring the Boiling River, heading up to Chico Hot Springs or seeing more of the park. Todd was super available and helpful and a great host. Definitely check it out!

Great place to stay!

  • 5 of 5

If u are looking for a quite, well kept place to stay while visiting Yellowstone, look no further, give Todd a call. This place was perfect for us. Me and my wife, along with her best friend and husband stayed here for a week. We had a great time, we spent everyday exploring Yellowstone. We seen all kinds of wildlife, including 7 bears with 2 grizzlies. We also got to do some fishing in the park and caught a lot of Yellowstone cutthroat trout, Thanks to Todd (owner of the cabin), told us about a little honey hole that was full of trout in the Lamar river. I would recommend this property to friends and family. Thanks again Todd!

LOVED Electric Peak Cabin!

  • 5 of 5

The cabin was lovely! First class furnishings, artwork, pots and pans and view. The beds and pillows were the best we experienced in a cabin/hotel ever! The cabin was clean and very well maintained. Todd was a great host.

Perfect landing spot for exploring Yellowstone

  • 5 of 5

We absolutely loved renting this cabin. It's super close to Yellowstone ! But, just enough out of the way to get a feel of living in some of the beautiful mountains of Montana. Breathtaking views from the front porch. We stayed here with our three boys ages 12,10 and 8. They loved feeding the horse named soldier that is corralled on the property. Would love to come back here some day.
