About the property

Duplex, 1 Bedroom With Very Comfortable Queen Bed, Sleeps 2

This home feels like it is in Acadia National Park, rather than merely surrounded by it. Picture windows along the length of the living room, dining area and kitchen look east, with views of Gorham Mountain and the meadow,

In the afternoon, relax on your private back deck, watching songbirds and meadow wildlife. Or sit by the frog pond enjoying a good book and the clear Maine air. Acadia Meadow's Back Yard Bocce Court and indoor ping pong provide fun games (and easy sports to learn). Bring your pickle ball paddles! We have a regulation pickle ball net for guests to borrow for use on the two pickle ball courts in town Bar Harbor (free!) Or, come play with our local pickle ball group (indoor and outdoor play available)

There's a large back yard, a hammock for lazy days and moonlit nights and when you're ready to hit the hiking, biking, kayaking, canoeing or garden trails we'll point you to the local favorites.

Acadia Meadow is stocked with fresh herbs and vegetables (in season) from our organic garden; books, including Maine authors,;local guides and great area maps: we think, like the 'rusticators' of times past, you'll want to return to Acadia Meadow year after year.

About Suze

About the owner: I was born and raised in Bar Harbor and Tod grew up in Marin County, California. We owned and operated Bar Harbor Brewing Company and retired after selling the business in 2008. We love to garden, hike, bike, fish, gather wild mushrooms and berries and play pickle ball. I love to cook; creating dinner menus from the organic vegetables in Tod's garden is a highlight of each summer day. This summer Tod will focus on his vegetable garden and recovering from hip replacement surgery. I work as an EMT and ambulance driver for the town of Mt. Desert.

Suze purchased this townhome in 1992

Why Suze chose Otter Creek

We fell in love with the house and 2+ acre property. You can hike out your back door into Acadia National Park. The backyard opens out to a beautiful meadow teeming with wildlife. And yet we're 4 miles from downtown Bar Harbor.

What makes this townhome unique

Stars, stars and more stars at night. The night sky from the back yard Adirondack chairs or hammock is the greatest show on earth. Wildlife, including deer, Pileated Woodpeckers, fireflies & hummingbirds can usually be seen regularly while relaxing on your back deck. Location is surrounded by the most wonderful places to explore in Acadia National Park - if you forget something, or want to come home for lunch, we're just around the corner. Free Island Explorer Bus stops outside your front door late June to Columbus Day 2018. Acadia Meadow is the entire left wing of the house.

Perfect place for our honeymoon getaway

  • 5 of 5

Suze and Tod were great hosts. The property was very clean and comfortable. My wife broke her foot a few weeks before the wedding and was on a knee scooter. The hardwood floors made it very easy for her to get around. The weather wasn't exactly on our side so we didn't get to explore much. The location was great, too. Just a few miles out of bar harbor so we easily could have taken a cab to town. Suze had business cards for the cab company right inside the front door. Lots of pamphlets and local info around the house. I would wholeheartedly recommend Acadia Meadows to any and everybody browsing the area. We hope to make it back again next time we can talk grandma into taking the kids for a few days!!

Perfect in every way

  • 5 of 5

We stayed at Acadia Meadows in Oct 2017 for 3 nights. The location was ideal for exploring and enjoying Acadia National Park (especially since there was construction going on near town, we did not have to deal with it on a daily basis). The home was clean, comfortable, and had LOTS of room. Fast internet was helpful when my husband had work that had to be done. The meadow in the back was beautiful with the fall colors and a quiet place to rest in the chairs. The bed was comfortable, the shower had plenty of hot water, and the kitchen had everything needed to fix good meals. The only negative I can think of to say in this review is that we didn't spend enough time here since we spent a lot of time in the park. If we have the opportunity to come to this area again, Acadia Meadows will be our choice of lodging.

We cannot say enough about this place! Suze is an amazing host, very personable and friendly. Every attention to detail in the home from hiking tips to and maps to a gourmet kitchen with every possible accessory and small appliance you could possibly need! They even share whatever is ripe from their garden, leaving it on the doorstep for us! Quick and easy access to all parts of Acadia and we even hiked right out the back door several times with easy access to trails that linked us with the main Acadia trails.

Clean, beautiful and close to everything!

  • 5 of 5

This was one of the best places I've stayed through homeaway. Everything was extremely clean. I was so close to Bar Harbor and Acadia National Park. The owners provided maps, bus schedules and even fresh food from their garden. They were very helpful with questions and I felt right at home. The bed was very comfortable and all linens and bath towels are provided. I will hopefully be back again next year! Thank you for your hospitality Suze and Tod!

Peaceful retreat

  • 5 of 5

We really enjoyed our stay at Acadia Meadow. The view of the meadow and mountains is spectacular. It is a nice quiet location, yet when you are tired of quiet, the town of Bar Harbor is only a 10 minute drive. Our hosts were wonderful. The apartment was immaculately clean and spacious, with a kitchen that had all the amenities of home. We hope to visit again.

Acadia National Park and Bar Harbor offer all the activities you can imagine! Hike or bike into the park, catch the free Island Explorer bus outside your front door or drive and explore Downeast Coastal Maine. Tod and I will point you to the local favorites.
