About Jolanda

We are a family of 4 and we live for more than 23 years in this great house in the middle of the old centre in Amsterdam. My 3 children love this place and so do I. This area 'Jordaan' is like a small old village in the centre of Amsterdam. Everything is in walking distance. We live above the apartment and you have all the privacy you want.

Jolanda purchased this apartment in 2008

Why Jolanda chose Jordaan

The ground floor apartment used to be a shop for more than 100 years but is been renovated into an apartment. This is the best location in town because it's in the middle of everything and still very peaceful and children can play on the street. We have the best old pub of Amsterdam on the corner 'cafe de nieuwe lelie'. It's a 50 meter walk so you can stay here as long as you like.

What makes this apartment unique

We love to go to the biological markets in the weekends to do our groceries and to walk or take the bike. When you step out the apartment you see the Westertoren and it's always very beautiful to see the canals. Everything is in walking distance.

Great Place, Amazing Location

  • 5 of 5

A group of us stayed here at the tail end of a Europe trip. This place was great. It was walking distance to everything. The kitchen was well stocked. The beds were comfortable. We were greeted by a friend of Jolanda, she was amazing. She walked us through everything and even gave us great restaurant recommendations. We would definitely book this place again.

An oasis of calm in the busy city

  • 4 of 5

We had a great stay in the Jordaan apartment. It was well placed in the pretty residential Jordaan area, just a short distance from the centre of Amsterdam. We found the apartment to be clean and nicely appointed, with everything we needed for a couple of nights. Even a small garden to sit out in, which was a great bonus as we had sunny weather! The beds were really comfy. We were in the basement room, which was a small but nice space , accessed by steep stairs, but there was a stair gate to protect any children. The wooden wall cladding in this room housed cupboards right next to the bed which I felt were a bit imposing when they opened during the first night, but I am a restless sleeper! They just need a tweak to the latches I think. There was a super little kitchen with hob, microwave, toaster & coffee maker, great if you want to cook for yourselves. We found the Jordaan to be friendly and well equipped with a few nice local bars and restaurants in the vicinity. It felt very safe. The owner Jolanda, was very helpful & had prepared a handy manual to help visitors acclimatise quickly. All in all, a great stay. Thank you!

Very nice space with small bedrooms

  • 4 of 5

Very nice space but the bedrooms were a little small. I guess that is normal for Amsterdam. It was in a very nice location relatively close to transit, restaurants, pubs and the Anne Frank house. It was a comfortable apartment and everything it was advertised to be except we did a load of laundry and the drier didn't work, which means we left Amsterdam with some wet close. If the drier worked it would have been 5 stars.

Best attraction is the historical canal area where the apartment is. It's so beautiful to walk outside, a lot of very special shops, beautiful canalhouses, a canalboattour. Best tip every if you have interest in the Dutch cultural heritage, you can visit the Dutch Costume Museum and make a picture there in Volendam costume. Best memory ever!
