About the property

House, 2 Bedrooms, 1.5 Baths, (Sleeps 4)

Built in 1888, our cozy Victorian has been completely updated and is just around the corner from historic downtown Grass Valley. The spacious living/dining/kitchen area is perfect for entertaining, is fully equipped and furnished with warm oak furniture. The two small bedrooms are comfortable, beds and linens are of excellent quality. The king bedroom has its own half-bath and a sliding glass door leading to a lovely deck and a brick patio which is surrounded by camellias and azaleas. The neighborhood is quiet and you can enjoy the sounds of birds in the peaceful back yard or choose to relax on the front porch after your day of exploring and shopping.

Grass Valley offers a wide variety of events throughout the year and you can always take advantage of nearby gold mines (California's largest gold mine is 10 minutes away), bike riding trails, museums, galleries, theaters, wine tasting, fishing, local entertainment, excellent restaurants, and the neighboring gold-rush towns of Nevada City and Downieville.

About Sondra Jensen

My husband and I are both retired and we bought this house after having visited Grass Valley a number of times to explore the area, fish in the many nearby lakes, and relax in the warmth of a small community. We have found that we are not able to take advantage of the house as often as we had planned and are now happy to offer it for short-term rentals.

Sondra Jensen purchased this house in 2007

Why Sondra Jensen chose Gold Country & High Sierra

Grass Valley is known for its quality of life and we can see why. Everyone you meet is friendly and welcoming, the community is actively involved in social and environmental issues, and the foothill setting is beautiful. The choice of activities within an hour's drive is endless and a day spent at home in the Little Victorian is priceless.

Guestbook comments from the owner

Good Morning Sondra,

I just wanted to drop you a note letting you know how much we enjoyed the “Little Victorian”. Everything was perfect. The location was amazing and we loved the front porch. Thank you for sharing such a gem with us. I hope to return soon!

A beautiful refuge!

  • 5 of 5

Thank you for sharing your lovely house with us if only for a week. We were close to Live Oaks where my grandchild graduated. Grass Valley was close for diversion. But best of all was the comfort of the Little Victorian! We want to return next year when other child graduates from Ghidotti!

The cozy Victorian was everything and more than my family had hoped for during our visit to Grass Valley. Sondra had provided for every comfort that we could have imagined. The house was fully equipped and immaculate. The short walk to the lovely town was easy; we found the town fulfilled all of our needs. The book that was provided answered any questions that arose regarding the house and the surrounding area. We certainly took advantage of the beautiful location as we hiked along the Yuba, visited wineries, went downhill and cross-country skiing and toured the gold mines. There is no question that when we return we will request to stay here again.

Down Town Grass Valley Victorian

  • 5 of 5

I enjoyed my stay at this Victorian home in Down Town Grass Valley. I am a fifth generation Grass Valley native and most of my family is still there so it is nice to find a home a way from home when visiting. This is my second VRBO in Grass Valley and it was perfect. The home instructions were easy to understand and the home was clean and well equipped.

Simply Perfect!!

  • 5 of 5

This was our 1st visit to Grass Valley and we did so to meet our sons new in laws and family. Our stay couldn't have been any better. The cozy comforts of this cottage made our trip~ Everything was just as described and even better. We loved the comfort of the beds as well as all the kitchen amenities and provisions. Even though we didn't do an enormous amount of cooking, being able to have the comforts of home while on the road is very appreciated. I'm sure we'll return. Mahalo for making it so easy to stay there and for being so easy to work with.

Hello Sondra!

We have enjoyed our stay here in Grass Valley in your comfy Victorian! Everything we needed was here and we felt so at home right away. My relatives from Roseville were able to visit for an afternoon and enjoyed your deck/patio in the back yard! Each morning my son, husband and I would sit out on the front porch with our coffee and enjoy the fresh mountain air! This was convenient to visit with our son who lives in North SanJuan, and he was able to stay with us! Plenty of room! Didn't have to eat out all the time! Thank you so much. We will definitely keep it in mind for our next visit to this area!

Perfectly lovely rental in Grass Valley

  • 5 of 5

We spent a month in this lovely cottage while visiting family in the area. We've rented many houses and apartments in the U.S. and Europe, and this is the most thoughtfully and completely equipped rental we have ever had. Sondra has thought of everything! The house is spotlessly clean and comfortable. We enjoyed the kitchen and even hosted a family dinner party for 8. Furthermore, Sondra is responsive, helpful, and a delight to deal with! We enjoyed being a short walk from all of Grass Valley's delicious restaurants and fun shops, and only a few minutes' drive from our son, daughter-in-law, and brand new grandson. Looking forward to another visit.
