As in the Danish national anthem, the beech trees on Als reach to the salty Baltic Sea. For the forest extends to the coast, where there is beach after beach. Many are child-friendly and invite you to relax at the water's edge. 165 km of coastline surrounds Als, and many places are quite peaceful. Als also has the mildest climate in Denmark. Als is situated on a busy sea route and at the same time is an oasis of peace. If you listen carefully, you can make out the different nuances of the South Jutland dialect, even among children.
