About Alice Lunt

I moved to Hawaii in 1985 and got married. My husband and I bought this house on the beach in 1987. Our two daughters are now grown and have many happy memories of their time at this house as they grew up. I enjoy managing our house and meeting people from all over the world.

Alice Lunt purchased this house in 1987

Why Alice Lunt chose North Shore Oahu

We bought this house because of it's location on the North Shore of Oahu.

What makes this house unique

Our house is right on the beach-there is always a beautiful view of the ocean. In the winter there is surf and in the summer you can swim and snorkle. The beach is usually empty-your own private beach!

There are wonderful restaurants in Haleiwa and Turtle Bay.

Waves..really BIG, LOUD waves

  • 4 of 5

The house is wonderful, everything needed to feel like you are at home has been thoughtfully provided. The location was just exactly the experience we wanted..RIGHT on the sand. The outdoor shower was the bomb and everyone fought over who would use it first. What wasn't just as perfect was the type of beach. We traveled with our grandchildren and the shore break waves were just too much for them. Having previously lived on the island I thought we were prepared for the rougher beach experience but it turned out that maybe we weren't. We spent a lot of time driving to other beaches so that the kiddos could enjoy the water more. I think this beach is perfect for those that want to surf or just want to watch the surf and listen to the very loud waves. Great house, great place, just have the right expectations about the surf. Aloha!

Owner's Response: Barbara-thank you for your wonderful review! The surf is always an unknown on the North Shore. The surf has been relatively low this winter with a March surge. So glad you had a good time.

Perfection!

  • 5 of 5

Alice's house was incredible. Right on the beach, beautiful inside and out, and the outside (hot and cold!) shower is awesome after a swim at the beach. The sunsets are unbelievable and you can watch them everyday from your balcony. The house felt very safe and cool at night to sleep in even though there is no air con so that was a relief after a hot day. Only thing to note is the house is near pipeline so the swell is large. Perfect for surfing and swims but maybe not for small kids. The house looks likes it's been done up recently and is in great shape. It has all the necessities and then some. It is a fair drive to Haleiwa but there's the food trucks and plenty of other options near by for food (try the elephant Thai truck and on the side of the road the purple acai truck!). Overall we (2 couples 2 kids) could not recommend this place enough.

Perfect views well equipped

  • 5 of 5

Great location. Beautiful blue water views until a rare heavy storm dirtied up the waters for a few days. Sounds of waves are non stop. Nice layout with cooler sleeping rooms downstairs. Saw a gecko hanging in the place...beyond that no problems with bugs or wildlife. Whales always viewable every day from the deck. Bring your binoculars for best viewing. Surfers and great ways seen daily. Overall perfect place for our vacation.

Location is amazing

  • 4 of 5

This is a traditional beach house, the view is amazing and the house beautifully appointed with the feel of your own home. Would definitely recommend this property to anyone wanting to get away from the busy atmosphere of Honolulu and experience the North Shore.

Another fantastic stay at Lohi Kai

  • 5 of 5

This was our third stay in Alice's beautiful beach house & it was perfect as usual! The upgrade is wonderful, we loved the new wooden floor downstairs & were happy to see the familiar comfortable furniture upstairs, complete with beautiful new coverings. I think the new windows in the bedrooms are great & love that you can still hear the ocean, just not as loud as before.

There is nothing better than having your morning cup of tea out on the deck watching the ocean & the occasional beach walker. I was surprised one morning to see a stand- up paddle boarder catch a wave in to shore with a freshly caught fish between his teeth! How good is that?!!!

We reluctantly packed our bags to come home, filled with fond memories of our time here once again,we can't wait to come back.

Thank you Alice for providing us with the perfect place to spend our holidays.

Beautiful House on the North Shore

  • 5 of 5

We just had the most perfect vacation in Alice's oceanfront Home. The view is outstanding. The surf was up and the surfers were so thick it was hard to see the waves! The house is actually on the shore of the famous Banzai Pipeline! Cars and tourist were parked all along the streets; but we had a front row view with a private place to park our car in the enclosed yard.

Alice takes pride in her beautiful house and it shows. There were so many fluffy white towels we could not possible us them all; and there is a washer and dryer if you could. The outside shower had hot and cold water and a view of the surf...just great!

We recommend; and can not wait to stay here again. Thank you Alice... and VRBO.
