Nestled in the beautiful Napa Valley, this warm and welcoming home was built in 1924. It has been in the family for three generations.
Surrounded by many landscaped and forested acres, the view from the front screened-in porch is unparalleled in it's serenity.
The home is comfortable and comforting, like taking a trip back in time. Enjoy complete privacy. Spend the day by the extra large pool then venture out to world-class restaurants and wineries Downtown is a fifteen minute walk or a short drive away.
This comfortable home served our family well during the week ]of our son's wedding activities in St. Helena.
It was spacious inside and out, affordable, homey, near enough to town so you could walk or jog there which we did. The rooms were clean and had ample linens and kitchen equipment. It was mid-July and we had no air conditioning, which worried me, but with fans (I counted 8) and cool nights we were absolutely fine.
The 4 bedrooms (2 twin beds, 2 queens, 1 double) and living room couch easily slept the 8-9 of us. Having 2.5 bathrooms was helpful with relatives of all ages staying there.
We were attracted to the informality of the home. It is not fancy—not a new kitchen, no modern furniture, not “decorated.” The lovely camp-feel of the living room—with dark wood walls, floor to ceiling fireplace, leather furniture—made us nostalgic for a home in our past. This room easily held about 20 people eating brunch and watching the big screen TV for the World Cup Soccer Championships one morning.
The pool was very clean and the owners provided all sorts of pool gear for young and old. We explored the nooks and crannies of the property and think people of all ages would enjoy it although we accompanied the younger kids because we didn’t know what they would find around each corner.
The owner's agent was most helpful and responsive before, during and after our stay. I would definitely recommend this property to others. It felt like a well-loved home that had been in the family for a few generations and that they were loaning it to us for our stay and we appreciated the ease of staying here.
Things we recommend in St. Helena: Wedding venue/Rust Ridge Ranch, Reception at The Farmstead Restaurant at Long Meadow Ranch, groceries at Sunshine Foods and Safeway, casual dinner at La Condesa downtown, take-out pizza from Tres Vigne, Heaven and Earth beauty parlor, visiting wineries, Charlies BBQ (caterers), Dean and Deluca (caterers), nearby Crane Park (good for large group picnic, for children’s equipment, bocce ball, tennis, Friday Farmer’s Market), hiking at Moore Creek Park. Have fun if you get to stay there and thanks to the owners!
We had a 4 day stay in this grand old house in September 2011. We were a group of 7, including our 2 kids under 3 years old, and our our parents in their late 60's. The house was really spacious and was able to accommodate all of us very comfortably (including massive grounds, which allowed the kids lots of space to run and play). The kitchen was well stocked with all the cooking essentials, and plenty of linens and towels etc were available. The house was far enough away from the tourist crowds, yet only a 2 min drive into downtown St Helena (or 15-20 min beautiful walk). If you are looking for a modern house with the latest finishes, then this is not the place for you. But, if, like us, you appreciate a place full of character and life, then this house is just perfect - it really felt like being at home, and we thank the owners for allowing us to share in their special part of the world!
