Why Russell Rich chose Smoky Mountains

The Lodge was built in 1997 by the four Resch brothers. Two are from Florida and two are from Cleveland. This was in between our homes. We have had an annual family reunion for the past 12 years and have truly grown to love the beauty of the mountains. There are so many activities available in the area and every single age group can be happy from the youngest grandchildren to the grandparents.

What makes this house unique

We always spend many hours on the lake. The children especially enjoy tubing. We also love the outdoor fireplace on the deck. The hiking in the Glenshore community is particularly beautiful.

Amazing views, wonderful house for a big group vacation

  • 5 of 5

We had a WONDERFUL time at Russell's place, don't hesitate to stay here. The house is really thoughtfully set up for a big group; enough bathrooms for all, a good amount of space for both group activities and quiet times on one of the two huge porches. The views out to the lake are amazing, and there were even a number of inner tubes, blow-up rafts, and a canoe for relaxing on the lake. (The lake is right by the house - from the pictures we weren't sure how near the lake access was, but it's right out the back, down the hill from the porch side). We were a big group visiting NC for the eclipse, and couldn't have asked for a better experience.

Beautiful location on Lake Glenville

  • 5 of 5

We had a family gathering on Lake Glenville, and Muskoka Lodge was a perfect gathering spot for us all. The living space, kitchen, and decks accommodated all 15 of us very comfortably, and the dock was great and made our boat rental convenient. The kitchen was well-equipped for cooking for a crowd.

Pros and cons

  • 3 of 5

Pros: Very Clean and incredible view. Kitchen well stocked. Cons: Beds were uncomfortable. Only one hot water heater. 100 steps down to the lake. This challenged the 65 and older crowd.

Beautiful mountain getaway!

  • 5 of 5

Our family has been having our reunion here for the past 10+ years and it couldn't be more perfect! We range in age from 80's down to under a year and there is plenty for all of us to enjoy. You can do as much or as little as you like. It's a quiet, peaceful setting for those that like a slower pace and the lake has plenty of fishing and water sports for those that like more activity. Hiking, white water rafting, horseback riding and shopping are all nearby. The lodge itself is beautifully decorated and clean and comfortable. There is plenty of "public" space for all of us to be together to eat, play games, enjoy the fire, etc., but also plenty of private space to enjoy a nap, reading or just some quiet time. Most of us end up spending the majority of our time in the rocking chairs on the back deck enjoying each other's company and the stunning views of the lake. There are bedrooms upstairs for the families that have infants and our older family members and there is dormitory style sleeping downstairs, which our older children love. We won't go anywhere else for our reunion and look forward to each summer at Muskoka Lodge!
