My wife and I originally met when we attended Western Washington University in Bellingham, WA. We lost touch with each other and then found each other 25 years later after marriage and divorce. We purchased the Birch Bay Cabin from my mother-in-law and we rented it to my sister-in-law for 5 years and now have made it a vacation rental.
Owner purchased this House in 2003
Why Owner chose Birch Bay
My mother-in-law purchased it several years ago and we wanted to keep it in the family. We love the area because of its beauty, peacefulness and closeness to Canada and Bellingham. The beach is great and wonderful for crabbing, clamming and walking. The views are awesome and the wildlife spectacular. It is one half block from the beach, one hour 15 minutes from Mt. Baker Ski area, 5 minutes from the border and 45 minutes from Vancouver, BC.
What makes this House unique
The cabin can sleep 6 to 8 people, beautiful views of Birch Bay, Canadian San Juans, eagles nests and the beach. It has direct and wireless internet, Dish Network TV and easy access to the beach, a block from the waterslide, close to the State Park, 5 miles to the Canadian Border, Close to golf courses and Semiahmoo Resort, 25 minutes to Bellingham and 2 hours from Seattle.

Cabin at the Bay
We enjoyed our stay here. Aside from a few shortcomings, we had a great time. The location was great. The dryer needs some attention and a sharp knife or 2 would have been a bonus. (and the oven worked one night, but not the next) Loved sitting on the front deck and the furnishing were nice, a true beach cabin. Connected with the owner on a few points and he was very responsive.
Glad you had a good time/ Sorry about the oven. First time we had a problem with it.
Whimsically wonderful, refreshing and relaxing. Clean and spacious cabin.
I'm glad you had a good time and appreciated the uniqueness of the cabin
Good location but the cabin could be better.
This cabin is in a good location, very close to the beach and the water slides. The cabin itself could be so much better.
It was not clean when we arrived, we found a lot of dirt under the rugs and furniture including old bits of food. Many of the lights did not work and we found that there was too much stuff (nicknacks ) for our liking.
Most of the window screens were missing or broken, the weather was hot so we ended up with a lot of flies in the house (the screen on the front door was good).
If you intend to cook then it would be best to bring your own pans, the ones provided were not clean. We ended up leaving a day early from our stay. Some basic maintenance and a clean up could make this a great cabin. Please fix the dryer, it has been noted by others and did damage some of our clothes.
We did like sitting out on the front porch where there was a view of the bay and a cool breeze.
I'm sorry you had problems during your stay. The cleaning person said she cleaned the cabin prior to your stay so we are perplexed you found the cabin "dirty". The dryer has worked fine. The comment from last year was another dryer and not related to the dryer there now. We will check the dryer as we have had no prior complaints. We have new pots and pans and again, have not received this type of complaint before. The front screens were being repaired and our now in place. Also, it is important to note you received a 50% discount prior to your stay.
Very well equipped
Glad you had a good time and thank you for leaving the cabin so clean and doing the laundry!
