"Mockingbird Hill" is one of the few private, single family homes available that are actually located within the boundaries of Four Mile village, despite what the internet tells you.
Four Mile Village is a tiny, gated community with only 35 home sites on approx 350 acres. Two thirds of the property in undeveloped and held in trust as the Coffeen Nature Preserve.
Stay in 'Mockingbird Hill' and enjoy breathtaking Gulf views accentuated by the many sliding glass doors.
Large, light and airy rooms with interesting artwork and comfortable mattresses await you. The master king bedroom has a private bathroom.
This home has a completely separate Studio Apartment downstairs which is accessed by an outside staircase only. This can be added as a fourth bedroom and bathroom for larger groups and for older children responsible enough to sleep down stairs unsupervised.
The gazebo and deck, situated on the east side of the house is very private and offers cooling breezes as well as fabulous views of the surrounding dune vegetation. You can watch the groups of deer come and go on their daily walkabouts.
Bay trees will complement your seafood suppers which can be prepared on either the gas or the charcoal grill.
Step back in time and enjoy a preserved, natural, coastal dune habitat, complete with a 50 acre globally rare freshwater lake. Private beach access leads to one of the most secluded beach areas in the County. The property is gated and has no through roads.
Turn east along the shore past the last Village home and you are on the secluded, pristine, preserved 2 mile stretch of beach within Topsail Hill State Park Preserve .
The beach can not be accessed from the private lot shown in the view directly below the house. The community beach access is just over 1/2 mile by car where there is parking. You can walk down the dune from the home and follow the beach road east to the private community access (approx 250 yards.) Many guests rent a golf cart locally which makes getting to and from the beach a breeze.
This home is individually owned, but professionally managed by Susan Paladini for David Walker Realty, Inc. Susan is the Resident Caretaker for Four Mile Village and the Coffeen Nature Preserve.

Four sisters and our husbands enjoyed Mockingbird Hill during Thanksgiving week… The weather was absolutely PERFECT!!!… and the view from the lovely covered raised deck, as well as from the entire house, was really spectacular!!.. The master suite is especially large with a nice large bath in two sections… The house, in the Coffeen Nature Preserve and Four Mile Village is quiet and it feels secluded though once you go through the main gate you are close to anything you could want… I would LOVE to go back soon ….
If I were to design and decorate a beach house,it would be "Mockingbird Hill".Built high on a dune with clear view of beach and gulf, it has charm, character, and comfort. We spent the month of March in Four Mile Village and the Coffeen Nature Preserve--a very unique 200 plus acres with a few houses tucked among the trees and dunes with a spectacular beach. It is a Florida treasure. Highly recommended!!
This is a very beautiful, very comfortable home. Lovely furnishings. The living area is very large with a large dining table. Perfect for vacationing families to gather. My favorite part of the house is the gazebo, where you can sit on summer evenings and enjoy the wonderful gulf breezes.
We absolutely adored our stay at this Four Mile Village property. The rental agent was very nice and spoke more than once with us about the interesting history surrounding this area. I feel like the photos of this property do NOT do it justice at all. It is a HUGE, beautiful home with tons of space. The beach is so private and we hardly saw any other people the whole week. There were never more than three groups of people at once on the whole stretch of beach, which is very long. I wouldn't really recommend this for those looking for the party beach vacation. It's very calm and relaxing though and perfect for a couple or family retreat. The water here is VERY calm and crystal clear. I get a little woozy if I stay out in hard waves for very long, but I stayed out in the water for hours on end without a single difficult wave. We had a wonderful time and would definitely come back again!!
Four Mile Village was a missile test site during World War II. Stay onsite and visit the Caretakers Cottage, the original mess hall for the barracks. View the historical photos from the then Army Air Force.
Hike up the launch ramps with the metal rails still intact and explore the concrete bunkers from which these JB2 missiles were lauched off into the Gulf.
Enjoy the flora and fauna surrounding Lake Fuller, a unique and globally rare coastal dune lake and rejuvinate in the beautiful peaceful surrounding.
