Guestbook comments from the manager

So far Kailua is our favorite place we've been to in Hawaii. The beaches are amazing. The food is amazing. The town is really cool and not overrun with tourists. Laura's Studio was clean and beautiful and the view was like a matte painting from a movie. The unit had its own entrance and gave us all the privacy we needed. The bed was huge and super comfy. The room was bright and cheery. The shower was awesome. We had a driveway spot for our jeep. Laura is really nice and she was always closeby in case we needed anything. She hooked us up with a sweet discount at a local kayak and paddle board rental shop. It was awesome! We were sad to leave Kailua. We will definitely be returning and wouldn't hesitate to rent with Laura again!

Ideal getaway for a couple or small family.

Visiting Oahu in mid October can be tricky, especially when the trade winds are in.. But, the weather aside we had a very comfortable and pleasurable stay. Our hostess was very sweet and accommodating. Many different items were available for us to use at our leisure including: fins snorkel gear and boogie boards. The location was absolutely perfect with a Safeway and Starbucks just around the corner, who could ask for more? The property was clean, and the Linens were fresh. The only thing this location was lacking was a sink to do dishes in that we were able to manage with the small bathroom sink. I hope you have a wonderful stay here...we did. Mahalo-

The room and property are lovely - just like in the pictures! Jacqui is a great host!

  • 5 of 5

We loved the ambience of the Aloha guest cottage. The lanai area is spacious, opening onto a beautiful garden and pool. The garden and pool made it perfect for a four-year-old - so much better than being cooped up in a high-rise hotel room. We were able to barbecue in the evenings and enjoy sitting around the pool. Kailua is far from the bustle and crowds of Waikiki - a real Hawaiian beach town - and has one of Oahu's best beaches - white sand, clear waters, gentle waves. And Jacqui provides just about everything needed to take full advantage of the setting: kayaks, boogie boards, snorkels and fins, beach towels, even a small cooler or two. And it is an easy drive to explore the north shore or the glamour of Waikiki.

Awesome vacation in Kailua

  • 5 of 5

We stayed in Aloha Tropical Hideaway from Mar 27 to Apr 4, 2017. This was our second stay in this vacation rental and it is our most favourite one on Oahu. It was so relaxing and we enjoyed every minute of it. It pushed all right buttons for us. The rental is attached to the main house that is a residence of the owners. The owners are very pleasant and helpful if you need something. Otherwise you barely see them and you have plenty of privacy. You can use a huge, covered patio, a swimming pool, and a backyard. The backyard is right beside a canal where we were feeding fish or we took kayaks and paddled to Kailua beach and back. The rental is quiet and at night you can hear wind in palm tree tops and birds singing in the morning. The room is cool enough and we never felt hot. If you feel like it you can also use a ceiling fan. It has a king bed, a sofa queen bed and a single bed. It was very comfortable for us - 2 adults and 2 children. It has a rather small fridge and only outdoor kitchen. You can use an outside BBQ with a side burner as a stove and all necessary kitchen supplies are in a cupboard in the studio. The kitchen sink is also outside. Cooking outside actually adds to the overall romantic character of a stay. When we go next time to Oahu we will definitely try to book it again.

Great experience!

  • 5 of 5

Our family (myself, husband, and 12 & 8 year old kids) loved everything about our stay. The pool and kayaking were the kids favorites. I enjoyed my morning coffee overlooking the canal. So peaceful! The house had all the supplies we needed for a day at the beach. Jacqui made sure we always had fresh towels available. We would certainly book this house again when we return to Hawaii. Mahalo Jacqui and Jeff!!

My favorite place in Kailua

  • 5 of 5

I love Jacqui's place. This hideaway is so perfect. It's quiet, clean, and super comfortable. I look forward to returning every year for my studies and vacation. It's become my Kailua home. I honestly can't stay anywhere else, unless I'm forced to. Jacqui herself is lovely and warm. She has the whole place filled with fun things to do - snorkels, kayaks, boogie boards ... there's even a pool and grill for your use. I adore Jacqui and her family. They're wonderful people. If you're in Kailua, I highly recommend this place for your vacation. You won't be disappointed.

Wonderful stay for active family

  • 5 of 5

The two of us and our kids (8 and 11) stayed here in June 2017 and had a great time. The pool was great for the kids and we enjoyed kayaking and SUP on the canal. With kids, moving slowly, I'd say it takes about 40 minutes to kayak down to Kailua Beach. The beach is also about a 5 minute drive by car.

Local outrigger canoe club teams come up the canal to practice which was really fun to watch.

The huge covered outdoor patio was great-felt like a huge living space.

Very kind hosts who totally respected our privacy. Comfy sleeping arrangements for all four of us.

This property's location, just about 5 minutes from Highway 72, makes it quick and easy to go visit Waimanolo and Hanauma Bay. We learned that if you go to snorkel at Hanauma before 7am it is free and much less crowded.

It's also just about 30 minutes over the mountains to Honolulu.

Island Snow is my kids' favorite for shave ice. We like to walk over to Kailua Beach and watch the windsurfers while we eat it!

We've traveled to Kailua several times, and the beach is always pretty windy, in my experience. But that's part of the whole scene, with kite surfers and windsurfers to watch. Kailua Beach has smaller waves usually for kids, then Kalama Beach park, about 5 min drive up the street or 20-30 minute walk up the beach-can have slightly larger waves that are better for boogie boarding. The whole beach is a beautiful white crescent. Someday I'll spend all day just walking up and down it and people watching!

As a field trip my kids always love Tropical Farms up Highway 83 toward the North Shore, about 45 min drive. They love cracking open the macadamia nuts with rocks and the guy who cuts your coconut open with a machete so you can drink the coconut water. They also love lunch at the Waiahole Poi Factory.

We are primarily take-out eaters so Whole Foods, Fatboy's and Hibachi were our favorites. Most nights we would bring home dinner and eat it on the beautiful outdoor patio.

Thanks again for a lovely stay!!
