House, 2 Bedrooms + Study/Den plus 2 Convertible bed(s), 2 Baths, Sleeps 10
After visiting the Crystal Coast for several years we purchased this property in 1997 to be close to our favorite locations; Beaufort, Morehead City and Atlantic Beach, and for immediate access to Bogue Sound for the great fishing and water sports. We love to travel and this boating neighborhood reminds us of some water communities in Europe. We enjoy family reunions here and some family guests travel from as far as the UK and Netherlands to take advantage of the peaceful waterfront setting. We joined VRBO for the first time in the summer of 09 and have enjoyed sharing our vacation home with other guests. We love to hear about their varied activities, and have even learned about some great attractions that we had overlooked, such as parasailing and horseback riding on the beach. We enjoy boat trips to Cape Lookout, Shackleford Island and other nearby sandbank islands for picnics on the boat, followed by swimming, shelling and sun bathing. We also travel by boat to the nearby waterfront shops and restaurants, and love the many street fairs and the live music on the waterfront. Cycling along the water view roads to the local store for the morning paper is a great way to start the day and we like to kayak from the boat dock to cruise up and down Bogue Sound, enjoying the sunsets, bird life and waving to the boats passing. We sometimes see Dolfin while kayaking or traveling in the boat. The cottage is suitable for young children, teenagers and adults. We love sharing this home with our guests and hope they will enjoy all the extra conveniences we have included to make this their own vacation home away from home.
Anita purchased this House in 1997
Why Anita chose Newport
We believe this is one of the best locations on the North Carolina coast, ideal for boating, sailing and fishing, close to the beautiful beaches and close to 'rainy day' activities such as movies and waterfront shopping. Jet skiing, kite surfing and wind surfing are also popular water sports. Parasailing and horseback riding on the beach are also available. The neighborhood is quiet and peaceful while still being close to all the shops and points of interest.
What makes this House unique
Enjoy the benefits of have the boat docked in the back yard for fishing trips, cocktails on the boat, spontaneous picnics or to travel to the many waterside restaurants nearby. We also enjoy meals on the lawn by the water under the shade of a large tree, or on the sheltered brick patio. We enjoy the immediate access to Bogue Sound from the boat dock to kayak on the the waterways and enjoy the views.

Loved this cottage!
We throughly enjoyed our stay at this picturesque cottage! It was very clean and beautifully decorated. We spent most of our time relaxing by the dock enjoying the wonderful NC weather. There was lots of outdoor furniture to lounge in under the sun. Our kids loved paddling around the canal to the sound in the cottage’s kayaks. We took a day trip to the beach and used the cottage’s beach chairs and umbrella! This cottage offers lots of extras! Highly recommend this VRBO!
We stayed at Surrey Cottage for our annual fishing trip this year. The house was very clean on arrival. A group of 6 guys had room to sleep, bathe, and relax after spending 2 days on the water. There were plenty of towels without having to do laundry for the 3 nights we were there. Anita was responsive to any messages I sent or questions I asked. Hope to stay here for our 2020 trip.
Thank you Nick, we enjoyed having you stay and hope the fishing was good!
Great place for relaxing. Place was very clean and well decorated. Very comfortable and on a great location.
Thank you! We hope you had a wonderful stay.
Great Weekend Away
This was a great place on the water and will definitely look to stay again
3 TVs but only got one to work. 5 lights with burned out bulbs. We delt with it.
Neighbor on right are Creeps. I walked out to canal, he came out screaming at me with insults. Stay away from him.
Thank you, we apreciate the feedback.
We have since verified all TVs are operational and all burnt out bulbs have been replaced with long life bulbs. In future we will also ensure we clearly identify where replacement bulbs are located should they be required.
Wonderful house, thank you Anita.
Croquet, volley ball and kites are available for our guests. There is a tree swing and basket ball in the yard. Board games also available at the cottage. The N. C. Aquarium and the golf driving range, miniture golf and bowling alley are popular nearby activities. The Brandywine golf course is within a few miles and a diving school/center is in nearby Beaufort.
