Want a great family vacation place? Our house is located directly in front of Haystack Rock in Pacific City, Kiwanda Shores development. Perfect Family house, remodeled recently. Sit on the deck and watch the kids surf, or get in the water in a few short steps. Nice private location with Sand Dune buffering one side of the house - wide open views of Kape Kiwanda and the giant dune on the other. Numerous activities in Pacific City, or no activity at all - it's an easy place to just relax on the deck and watch the ocean.
A few notes: No Smoking inside or near the house - we like clean smelling beach and ocean. Owned by Surfer and Snowboarder, so it's not your grandma's beach house - but not party central either! No shoes in the house at all - in keeping with Island customs of respect for household.
PLEASE NOTE! THIS HOUSE IS LOCATED ON THE OREGON COAST - WE CAN NOT GUARANTEE SUNNY WEATHER AND A CLEAR VIEW OF THE OCEAN!!! While our house IS located on the front row - with nothing but sand between you and the ocean - the winds can reach up to 100 mi/hr creating a berm in from of the house. Most of the time we are able to shovel the sand out of the way, making for a perfect view of the ocean from the house. But other times, we have storms moving in and out - especially in the winter months - pushing the sand, blocking the view.
A beautiful place - for having fun with family and friends!

I bought this house many years ago, with a dream of having a little place to go with the family and learn to surf better. Still a crummy surfer - but if I ever get better, I'll walk right off the deck and be in some of the best surf in Oregon. I prefer renting to families and small groups.

Pacific City is a great little beach town that doesn't have that trashy tourist look that most of the other Oregon Beach towns have so lovingly acquired. A real fishing town, with seriously good beaches and waterways.
Crabbing, whale watching, beach walks, giant sand dune hikes, surfing, sand boarding (which never works as good as it should), Bingo at the senior center on Wednesday nights, good restaurants and coffee house.
There was an 8' sand burm blocking the entire water view of the beach. You can see the Hay Stack Rock stick out, that's just because it is so darn big. I later read they use large excavators to take down the natural the burm for the summer months, but that wasn't noted in the advertising. The wind and water naturally create this burm, they have to maintain it to keep it at bay, not with a hand shovel as they note in another comment.
The kitchen basics where not stocked very well: no dish washer soap, no cookie sheets, no cooking spray, spices ? and the two small fridges are a no go for a three bedroom house. You anticipate bringing food, but not kitchen basics when you travel to the beach.
They have a really great spot here, it's walking distance to fish tacos, The Pelican and Coffee shop etc. We have been to Pacific City many times and will come back to the area. Just not sure this home is worth the money without the summer view and has slightly dated feel.
Comfortable well stocked beach house. The beds were really comfortable. The property was well maintained and clean. The owners were REALLY good to work with. When we arrived the property was not cleaned. We contacted the owners, they answered the phone immediately, and took swift action. The owners contacted the housekeeper who was there within a few minutes. They reduced the charges a fair amount for the inconvenience. One disappointment was that we could not see the ocean very well because of a the large sand berm that was in front of the house (this is different from the grassy berm beside the house.)
The location is amazing! Right on the beach. A few caveats include: be aware there are two very tiny mini fridges ONLY for your refrigerating pleasure. We did not read the ad thoroughly (our fault!) and showed up with ten tons of food. Which did not fit. Not even close.
The beds are very comfortable except the thin mattresses on the bunk bed, do not recommend larger people sleep on them.
The home was lovely- nicely decorated, nice open living spaces, fully stocked kitchen. The bunk room was great for the kids. Spectacular beach-front property. We will stay again!
We took our son and his family to this beach house to celebrate his graduation with a Masters Degree from Oregon State University and it was perfect! Great location, perfect weather for the Oregon Coast and we had a great time. Could not have picked a better place!
