Space 1,350 sq. ft.
Property type condo
Minimum Stay 1 - 4 nights

About the property

2 Bedrooms, 2 Baths, (Sleeps 5)

Pawleys Island is the oldest seaside resort in America. Our condo is located within the gated community of Pawleys Plantation Golf and Country Club and is about a 7-8 minute drive to the beach. There is also a beautiful nearby swimming pool available for residents and guests. Pawleys Island has long been known for its beautiful beaches and superior golf courses - all moss draped and Low Country lush. Other nearby attractions are Brookgreen Gardens (massive sculpture set in acres of flowers and trees), Hobcaw Barony ( FDR stayed there !) and the quaint seaside town of Georgetown. Myrtle Beach is just thirty minutes away with more golf, themed and theatre restaurants and its own beach attractions.

This property may be booked by credit card through the secure and convenient PayPal invoicing system at no additional VRBO charge to you. You need not have an existing PayPal account.

Our condo is upstairs in a Low Country style fourplex. We especially like being upstairs because of the great view - a long vista of nothing but green - trees, shrubs and grass. The best part of being upstairs is the sense of being in a tree house - a very comfortable one with privacy, shade and seclusion.

You enter the condo from a wide front porch. There is a small entry foyer; on the left is the closet that houses the stacked washer/dryer. As you proceed further into the condo, you will see a good-sized galley kitchen. This is equipped as a “cook’s kitchen.” There is plenty of good quality cookware, bake ware, cook’s knives, utensils, and food preparation equipment ( food processor, steamer, crock-pot, coffee pot, toaster).

The kitchen contains a regular sized refrigerator and a four burner electric stove with oven. Above the stove is a microwave oven with a stove light and exhaust fan underneath. There is a large dishwasher, a double stainless steel sink with disposal and adequate counter and bar area for food preparation and serving. In the large cabinets both above and below the counter, you will find good quality dishes, glassware, and serving pieces. Across from the galley kitchen, is a large storage pantry. This wide and multi-shelved unit provides plenty of easily accessible storage for food and supplies. Moving beyond the kitchen, you will see the dining area on your left. There is an expandable antique oak dining table with 4 cushioned rattan armchairs.

As you pass the dining area, you enter the comfortable living area. The 3 large double-hung windows on the left afford light and wonderful tree views. At the end of the living room are 4 glass full-length sliding doors, which open onto the screened porch ( roughly 8’ wide and 15’ long ). The porch – in fact the whole living room – offers a beautiful green vista, which includes the 10th fairway and tee box. We have a black wrought iron day bed/couch - comfy with its plump mattress and many large pillows. There are 2 large cushioned armchairs for relaxing and/or TV viewing. The television is a 32 inch HD Samsung with Time Warner cable stations.

On the way to the Master bedroom is one of the 2 identical full bathrooms. Each bath contains a large sized bathtub/shower, toilet, and vanity sink with cabinet and drawer storage. In this bathroom, there is a small linen closet.

The master bedroom is a spacious room with a large picture window view of the 10th fairway. The furnishings include a very comfortable king-size bed with coverlet and reading and decorative pillows. There are night tables on each side and reading lamps. On the opposite wall from the bed is a tall rattan entertainment unit, which contains a 26” television with DVD and VCR and bookshelves. The closet is large with room for two and has 2 small 3-drawer chests on the floor for clothes storage.

The second bedroom is at the front of the house overlooking the wide front porch. It opens off of the entry foyer. This affords ample separation and privacy from the rest of the condo. There is a storage chest and a small desk with drawer storage. For internet users there is high-speed broadband cable connectivity on this desk for use with your laptop computer. There is also a 19 inch television. On the way to the 2nd bathroom is a large closet and a small lighted vanity shelf. Underneath the shelf is a small storage area. This bathroom is almost identical to the other with full sized tub/shower, toilet, vanity sink with cabinet and drawer storage.

About Bill Cross

Long time married and long time retired - love the freedom that retirement has given us to travel and play golf both in Texas and South Carolina. On our trips to and from South Carolina and Texas, we can take the southern route along the gulf coast (I-10), the more direct route (I-20) through Atlanta and Columbia, SC or the northern route into Virginia, where Bill grew up, and visit old friends and possibly see a Va. Tech football game. Bill spent most of his career with IBM and EDS. Sue is a native Texan, born in Wichita Falls. She spent 25 years with the Dallas County Community College District. Besides golf, Sue enjoys cooking, art projects and reading.

Why Bill Cross chose Pawleys Island

Choosing a place in South Carolina was really a homecoming of sorts because Bill and both of his parents were born in South Carolina. We are avid golfers so we liked Pawleys because we get golf and the beach, too. And we are only an hour and 15 minutes away from one of our favorite cities - Charleston. This condo is great because it is surrounded by mature trees and because we have close proximity to the golf course, driving range and clubhouse amenities.

What makes this condo unique

Since we now live in Pawleys Island, we have the benefit of really getting to know the area. We also love to take short trips up and down the coastline visiting other resort areas in South Carolina, Georgia, Florida and North Carolina.

Love the condo, owner and pawleys island ❤️

  • 5 of 5

My family and I truly enjoyed our stay at the Cross's condo in Pawleys Island SC! Such a beautiful area! The condo it's self was beautiful and very well maintained and stocked with anything one may need, from the fully stocked kitchen necessities to the beach equipment! It is just a very short drive to the most beautiful beach I've seen in South Carolina, the beautiful salt marsh and many little shopping centers that have just about anything one could need! We are so impressed with not only the condo but Pawleys Island that we hope to one day soon to relocate there!

Thank you so much Mr. And Mrs Cross for allowing us to stay at your beautiful condo we look forward to visiting many many more times!

A wonderful condo

  • 5 of 5

We loved this condo especially because it was quiet, very clean and very well located. We were able to bring our small dog along for vacation which was so important to us. A short drive to the beaches (Pawley's and Litchfield are great choices), ample shopping and dining as well. Easy drive to Charleston for the day (we always make at least one trip there every year). Bill is extremely courteous and kind - we had a death in the family less than a month before and did not know if we would be able to make it till a couple weeks before - fortunately we did and plan on going back.

Relaxing Vacation

  • 5 of 5

My wife and I spent the month of May at this condo and loved it! Pawleys Island is a small laid back community. Kind of reminded us of the Florida keys or the non commercial villages of Cape Cod. I challenge anyone to find a more pretty, family friendly beach than the one at the South end of Pawleys Island. You can body surf on the ocean side and raft or kayak on the calm inlet side.We are not golfers, but this condo is on a very pretty and challenging course. We brought our dog, and loved daily walks on the beach and around the golf community. We had one very minor plumbing issue, that the owners had fixed on the day that we reported it! I cant find anything negative to say about this pretty condo or the community that it is in. We have already made reservations to go back again.

Just what I needed!

  • 5 of 5

It is a wonderful thing to wake up in the morning to a place as nice as this. It was right off the main road and easy to find, had courteous staff and nice facilities. Bill was extremely kind and accommodated every need. My family was blessed to be able to have a time of fun and relaxation and were able to get to a beach within minutes or use the pool which was just a short stroll. Vacations are so much better when I can bring my sweet pups along! Pawleys Island is an awesome place to bring your dogs as well as Huntington Beach State Park. I definitely would recommend this condo to my friends and family. I would love to come back when I am able to get away again. The hammock I purchased from the Hammock Shop just down the road will help me remember the peace I felt while I was here! Thanks Bill and Sue for allowing me the privilege of using your beautiful condo!

great vacation

  • 5 of 5

Condo was exactly as pictured and described with all amenities, very quiet, located within extremely well maintained grounds. Although we are not golfers, we enjoyed walking and biking on the low traffic roads inside the community. Location was very close to local places suggested by the owners (Brookgreen Gardens, Hobcaw Barony) and the public beach was just a few minutes drive and absolutely beautiful. A wonderful experience overall, we would definitely recommend this property.

Lovely Escape

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I stayed here for our honeymoon, neither of us ever having been to Pawley's Island before. The condo is in a lovely gated community with beautiful homes and golf courses. The pictures posted are very accurate. The unit has beautiful views outside the living room and master bedroom. We loved the granite counter tops in the kitchen, and had plenty of everything to prepare meals. We enjoyed our breakfast on the screened in porch as golfers played through the 10th hole. The community is quiet and laid back, but just a few minutes from great shopping, restaurants, and the hustle-bustle of Pawley's Island.

The owners did a great job of communicating with us and the transaction was flawless. They were terrific to work with. We're already talking about a first anniversary trip!
