Why Arlene chose Barnegat Light

Our parents purchased this property and had this home built back in 1959. We feel so lucky to have grown up, spending our summers in Barnegat Light. We learned to swim, fish, crab and so much about living by the Ocean and Bay which we have passed on to our children. Barnegat Light is truly a relaxing, wonderful beach vacation. No boardwalks, or chain stores....none of those big souvenir shops.

What makes this apartment unique

Barnegat Light is quieter than some of the other communities on LBI. We so enjoy our days at the beach just relaxing, reading and swimming. It's so nice afterwards to come home and chill out on the sundeck with a cold beverage before dinner.

If we don't feel like cooking, we order from the take-out restaurant on the next block.

I cannot say enough about this place- we have rented it twice and my family and I absolutely love it! The pictures do not do the apartment justice. It is clean, spacious, light, bright, cheerful, and very tastefully decorated. The deck off the back is very private- a perfect spot for morning coffee or a cocktail in the evening. The apartment is stocked with everything you could possibly need and more. The location, in my opinion, is absolutely perfect. It is quiet and peaceful, yet a very short walk or bike ride to the beach, bay, Viking Village, lighthouse, restaurants, shops and markets, ice cream, etc. If you head towards the bay, there is a wonderful neighborhood to go bike riding or walking. We were there in June and saw a number of terrapins that we helped to cross the road- my teenage daughter and her friend were very excited about that! We even found a path through a wooded area to a lovely, secluded, obviously little known bay beach. We enjoyed biking over to the produce market in the morning and stocking up on fresh fruits and vegetables for the day, and the fish market in Viking Village or local grocery/meat market on the days we decided to cook dinner on the grill. On our lazier nights we opted for takeout from Fresh Off the Hook , a delicious seafood takeout that is also in Viking Village, or sitting outside at Old Barney's Restaurant by the lighthouse. If you wanted to park the car for the week everything you need is absolutely within walking/biking distance, which I love! The owner is a wonderful, delightful person, as is her sister, who lives in the downstairs unit (so no having to worry about what kind of people are going to be staying below you! She and her family are respectful of your privacy yet very accommodating and ready to assist if needed). We have rented other places on the island but this is the one we will be coming back to. Can't wait to be there this summer!!

A Hidden Gem....

  • 5 of 5

My family and I have been renting this 2nd floor unit for approximately 3 years and it has been the perfect vacation spot for our family of 4. The apartment is very clean, spacious and comfortable. The kitchen is large and fully equipped. All of the windows allow for so much natural light. One of my favorite spots is the deck off of the kitchen. It’s a peaceful spot to enjoy your morning coffee. The apartment is located on a quiet street and very close to the beach, bay, and local shops.

Nice place to stay

  • 4 of 5

We very much enjoyed our stay in this duplex. The owner was very responsive to questions ahead of time, and we found the home just as described. Although the outside appears a bit dated, the inside had fairly new carpet and ceramic tile. The central air worked very well, and it was obvious that both the front door and the door to the deck had been updated with new metal doors. The decorations were bright and cheerful, and the beds were very comfortable (especially the queen and double). We cooked several of our meals, and found all that we needed in the kitchen. It is also very convenient to the boating and fishing areas that our family enjoys. Our security deposit was returned within less than 2 weeks of the end of our stay. I would stay here again and recommend it to family and friends.

Great little find!

  • 5 of 5

This will be my third summer renting this apartment and I couldn't be more delighted! The kitchen is well equipped, the furniture comfortable, the neighborhood quiet, yet accessible to the beach and Viking Village, lighthouse, etc. The owners are delightful and very attentive to the needs of the renters. Love this place!
