About Greg & Nicole

SF Bay Area resident and frequent Tahoe visitor.

Greg & Nicole purchased this house in 2006

Why Greg & Nicole chose Bijou 1

My husband and I love the West Coast skiing in Tahoe. After staying too many nights in lousy motel rooms, we decided it was time to buy our own place. We soon discovered Tahoe offers endless summer activities in addition to winter skiing. We spent much time remodeling to get that 'cabin' feel, and even got married in the backyard.

What makes this house unique

Within close proximity to the San Francisco Bay Area, hiking, skiing, mountain biking, and relaxation are all within easy reach.

Our trip to Tahoe 9/9/17 to 9/16/17

  • 5 of 5

I want to say THANK YOU to Nichole, and Greg.

My husband and I took an 11 hour road trip to Tahoe to celebrate our 13 year anniversary.

But let me rewind just a moment. See back in December 31, 2016, I was injured and had to have major back surgery. But in a nut shell it went wrong very wrong. I cried to my husband when I get out of here I want to get away. Well 9 months later he kept my promise. We first found a lodge to stay in but at the last minute we had to cancel and look for a cabin, that would let us bring our pups. One of them must have medication 3 times a day to stop his seizures.

Fast forward

When we arrived to the cabin open the door we were so excited to be in Tahoe. The home was clean and ready for us to use. It was everything we expected and even more. As far as the TV's not working that false, and the oven from the other review. The TV work yes in the living room and we did not watch TV in the bedrooms. The oven worked like a champ. There was no rats or mice running in the attic or wall only pine cones hitting the roof. We saw squares up down the trees having fun. There was no cigarettes smoke neither and we are non smokers I would smell it, we had a blast. The cabin is located in a great spot very close to a supermarket and drug store. We were only about 5 to the main road. The Cabin back up to a beautiful bijou setting. I am very grateful to Nichole to let me bring my pups with me at the last minute. Nichole is very accommodating, and work with you closely.

Thank you for making our stay very memorable on our anniversary. I am back to all my daily actives including mountain biking and hiking.

We will love to come back again to Tahoe and if and when we do, I will stay in Nichole and Greg home again.

Would definately rent again!!!!

  • 5 of 5

This was a great getaway for our whole family, including our dogs. This was the first time to the snow for our grandson and the dogs. The backyard is completely fenced in so we were able to go out with them to play. There was plenty of room for all of us. Very quiet and cozy. There were some extra toiletries in the upstairs bathroom. The house smelled fresh, no smoking is an obvious in this house, thank goodness. At first I couldn't get the upstairs tv to work, then realized the power cable to the back of the tv wasn't plugged in all the way. It worked fine after that. The dvd player wasn't working and realized it wasn't connected to the tv. Worked great once connected. The only thing I would change, would be updated, larger couches and tv in the living room and a few more drinking glasses. Other than that, it was awesome.

Also Great location with Safeway right down the road and close to the Casinos, restaurant's and lake. Our family will definitely rent this house again. Thank you Greg and Nicole!!!!!

Guernville, CA

zero stars - disgusting place, rodent infested, unhelpful owners, never stay here!

  • 1 of 5

At night, you can hear large rodents running in the ceiling and walls, mice run around in broad daylight, TVs don't work, stove is broken, couch is ripped, carpets are filthy and torn, walls are filthy, there are no toiletries not even hand soap, the smell of stale cigarette smoke bowls you over when you walk in, the heat doesn't work it stays at 75-80 no matter how you try to turn it down, drive was not cleared of 9 feet of snow when we arrived late at night and owners claimed it was scheduled to be cleared at 10 am the next day even though they knew we were arriving the night before, the guys who cleared it said they were just called that morning, I could go on and on . . . suffice it to say that we left as soon as we could pack up and find a hotel. Owners did not respond to requests for refund. This place should be banned from VRBO. DO not stay here ESPECIALLY if you have children. Yuck just yuck.

Owner's Response: This is an extremely dishonest review. Most telling are the experiences of other renters. This renter stayed Jan. 20-29. The prior renter checked out on Jan. 15 and the next renter checked in on Jan. 29, both of whom were pleased. The reviews on the VRBO site are unanimously positive. There was a large snow storm the night the renter arrived. The driveway was plowed 3 days earlier and there was not 9 feet of snow that night as alleged, though we did experience unreliability with our snow removal company due to broken down equipment from the record setting snowfall in January. When the renter informed us the drive had not been plowed when she arrived, we immediately called someone else to remove the snow. We apologized and offered a refund equivalent to nearly 2 nights’ rent for the inconvenience. On the 8th day of her 9 day stay, the renter sent an email with a list of complaints demanding a full refund. None of these issues were raised earlier and appear to be a pretext for her refund request. For example, despite a light on the stove that remains on when the stove is off, it is fully functioning. All of the TVs are fully functioning, as confirmed with the next renter. The thermostat is also fully functioning; because heat rises and the thermostat is downstairs, the cabin will necessarily be hotter in the upstairs bedroom than downstairs. We had a third party view the cabin immediately after the renter left, who confirmed there is no smell of cigarette smoke (it is a non-smoking cabin) and her other complaints about the state of the cabin are unwarranted. Out of an abundance of caution, we had an exterminator set traps, though he confirmed there was absolutely no evidence of large rodents in the ceiling (he climbed into the attic) as alleged. The cabin was never advertised as having toiletries, but it does include dish soap, garbage bags, toilet paper, paper towels and laundry soap. Starting in spring, we will add shampoo and soap. We told the renter it was unreasonable to ask for a full refund on the 8th day of a 9 day stay, but our offer for a partial refund due to the snow inconvenience still stood or we would be happy to discuss another mutually agreeable solution.
