Gorgeous newer home (completed and furnished in June 2009) located at 193 Governors Drive with over 2,700 square feet, 5 bedrooms, 4 ½ baths, and 8’ x 29’ lighted private swimming pool located in the coveted Vanderhorst Plantation (behind the second gate.) The home is an architecturally accurate Charleston style home with French Quarter influences boasting a working gas lantern mounted above a hand made wrought iron railing, vestibule entry way, multiple French doors leading to a covered lanai, multiple outdoor porches and a French balcony. The architectural design offers an elevated 9 foot perimeter wall to create a very private elevated courtyard-style sundeck and pool area.

This home sits on a wooded lot with a screened porch facing the natural wooded area to enjoy an early morning breakfast or evening dinner outdoors but still under a roof. This stunning home has two separate master suites and two living rooms (one on each level) to make a perfect vacation to suit multi-family needs. There are 5 bedrooms in total. The two master suites have Queen-size beds, the 3rd bedroom also has a Queen-size bed and the 4th & 5th bedrooms have two single twin beds in each bedroom. There are also 2 sleeper sofas for overflow sleeping. It can sleep 12 very comfortably if the couches are used. There are 4 full baths and a powder room off the foyer area. The two showers in the two master suites have multiple shower heads for a spa-like experience and one has a fashionable iron claw bath-tub for relaxing bubble baths. We have two Rennai instant hot water heaters so there is always hot water which is a must have for families vacationing together. The house has 2 living rooms so you can send the kids upstairs to watch TV or a DVD movie while you watch something different downstairs. There is an outdoor table in the screened room that seats 6, a granite bar in the kitchen that sits 2 and a dining table inside that also sits 6. This does not even account for the patio set poolside that sits another 5. There is a commercial gas grill outside for your cook-outs. The kitchen is gourmet with a Subzero refrigerator and a Wolf gas range/oven.

The beach is a short bike ride (1 mile), fishing and crabbing is near by and the Preserve is around the corner for kayak/canoe launches and picnics.

AMAZING! Everyone there was incredible from the start and to the finish of my stay. Whether it was preparing the house for my arrival at the last minute, showing me the house, speaking to the owners and helping us have a dog in the house while we studied for the bar exam etc. Further, the members of the team were extremely considerate of my situation, i.e. studying for the South Carolina bar exam and respected our privacy/need for peace and quiet. At the same time they were on top of any issues which arose (almost none). When the gas ran out for the stove on a Saturday, they had someone come out within an hour to fix the issue.



Property:

All I can say is that the house was beautiful and was perfect for my needs. Equally important was the fact that the team at Sweetgrass went above and beyond to take care of everything during my stay. I feel lucky that I found such a great management group and I would gladly do business with you again.

Beautiful house with a great pool

We stayed at this home with 4 couples and two young children and we were very comfortable. The layout was great for everyone to have their own bedroom and bathroom. The centrally located living areas (both upstairs and downstairs) were extremely convenient and comfortable. The pool was great for cooling off and had a great shallow end for the kids to wade in. The house is very secluded and private.

The folks with Sweetgrass rental agency were very quick to respond when the construction workers doing some line work cut out cable/internet. They had someone out the same day and even brought another DVD player for us to use.

Great time!

We had a great time at 193 Governors Drive. We were sad to leave. We are still in beach-mode on a Tuesday morning, back in the office. The pool set up was great. It was a wonderful part of the property. The upstairs master bath was great too. The team was very kind and personable.

Not Happy

Unfortunately, we did not have a good experience with renting this house. It was our first vacation with our 6 month old baby and we were hoping for a relaxing, fun time. When we arrived at the house, it smelled of cigarettes and wasn't very clean. We noticed there were spiders (big spiders) outside of every window of the house. To make matters worse, there were spiders inside the house, EVEN IN THE BEDS!! Considering the price of our stay, this place should have been immaculate!!! We were not happy, to say the least. Between the smell, the spiders, and the air conditioner breaking, I believe this was the most stressful vacation ever.

Wonderful Stay

We were nervous about our rental as this property recently sold and a new owner came on. Everything was exactly as promised and we enjoyed ourselves very much. This home offers ample space and is very secluded. The pool and sun deck are perfect for lounging around after a morning at the beach. We will be back.

Fabulous Island Getaway

This house behind the second gate on Kiawah Island is beautiful. We had only four adults and two dogs, but the property can easily accomodate 10 to 12. The architecture is beautiful. The pool is cleverly located and extremely private. The amenities are very high-end. The showers in the master suites are to die for. It's a short ride to the beach, which is simply magnificent. And I can't get over how lush and tropical Kiawah is compared to anywhere else I've been along the Atlantic Coast. There's plenty to do on the island, but it's also just a short drive to the fabulous restaurants in Charleston. The owner was great, too, We highly recommend this property.
